I wished Toyota put temperature guages on their hybrids AND for traction battery. Thank u for telling us around mileage to change them. Great camera/instructions work.👍
Great video! My high-temperature warning light came on randomly one day at 150k miles on my CT200h. I replaced the water pump using the Aisin from Rock Auto because I've been burned too many times by Amazon counterfeits and didn't want to take a chance with my car. The tip about turning the wheel to the right and accessing the bottom bolt from the wheel well worked really well! Personally, I found it easier to get the three bottom bolts from that area and the top two from above. I also went to O'Reilly to buy a radiator coolant hose to connect to the drain hole for the coolant, so I didn't have to completely remove the panels. I used a bucket when I removed the water pump and placed it behind the pump when looking from the bottom.
I just had my head gasket done 4 months ago go and just got the same light today, came one and off now I’m thinking my pump my be going out.I haven’t had any codes but haves ur light came back on since replacing the pump.? Did you have any symptoms before changing it out.?
@@justinaaceves8437 no official codes popped up just the high temp light popped up once on a hot summer day. The water pump is known to fail in these cars after 100k-150k miles. Check fluids to make sure its not coolants levels dropping. I also did coolant drain and fill since i was gonna be messing with the pump. So far the car is running great 2k miles later. I monitor it every once in a while with an obd2 scanner and temp levels have never gone above 198F.
My ct200h has been the most expensive and troublesome toyota I've ever owned, between the headgasket failing, and hybrid battery replacement in 6k in the hole. Now the waterpump failure.
Ok great thank you . Im sure u will get a good amount of views with that one there is really no information on the sending unit or float . Car is great had it for a year also . Thank you for all your videos .
I ordered a water pump from the amazon link you provided but I think they sent me a fake water pump? It didn’t come in a Aisin box and the gasket was preinstalled. The toyota logo is not scratched off either. Thoughts?
This is so easy id change it every 70k with no problems, hard to believe that Toyota charges more than a couple hundred bucks to do the work. If your not good with tools id say an independent owned shop can do this work for half of what toyota would charge.
Should this be replaced at intervals or when it is about to fail? I have 178k miles on my '12 CT200h and thinking of getting coolant replaced so maybe best to get pump replaced as well? Thanks for any advice.
What symptoms did your car presented that you knew it needed a new water pump? Today I was driving on the highway at about 50m and the temperature light went on for about 5 seconds or so. My car has 150k miles and replaced the HeadGasket when it had 120k
@@AutoScholarwithMrB Thanks for you help did just water pump . But now il getting code p0117 , but i don't where is it locate ? . Can you please help me to locate it ?
Awesome, thanks! Super easy, barely an inconvenience. I removed all bolts from the top
how did you manage to remove the middle bottom one ? Thanks a lot !
I have a video on this same job on the Prius and I show you how to remove the bolt from the top on that video.

I agree, the lack of a gauge has doomed many head gaskets on these cars.
Done. THanks for the info, and the link for the pump.
¡Gracias!
De nada!

There are many fakes on Amazon, but the link in the description is Aisin’s Amazon store. Thanks for the other tips and thanks for watching!

mr b my sending unit is out no video's on how to change out the fuel pump assembly .
If I come across a car needing that repair, I will film it.

Great video! Will the ECU be operational when plugged back in or will it need a diagnostic tool from the dealer to program it to work?
No, it’s plug and play!

No symptoms, just preventive maintenance. Overheating and codes normally represent a faulty pump however.
Is the procedure and part the same for a 2015 CT200h?
Yes, everything is the same.
@@AutoScholarwithMrB Thanks! What else would you change out on a '15 with 145K miles?
@becvd1 I would do the thermostat while you are there definitely.
Thanks! Also, how would you check the status of the hybrid battery and if it needs to be changed?
@@becvd1 Dr. Prius app works okay but it is just an estimation.

Do you think change the water pump rotor is good idea ? 😊

@@FranciscoGonzalez-ou4jv check your connections to the coolant temperature sensor. The sensor also may be faulty.
