This dude managed to replace one of the best vocalists in the industry, bringing a fresh sound while still maintaining the bands original feel. Give this guy props.
Stephen Winchell JC uses the same runs rhythms and tones in every song. He’s good. But Matt is way better.

Matt is a breath of fresh air for this band. They kept the groove and sound of the previous record and kept it healthy. It’s honestly amazing to see a guy you watched on The Voice somehow join the lineup of a band you’ve followed for years.

Reminds me of when Aaron left under oath and the next vocalist finished the album. I remember seeing them as an opening band and didn’t even realize that they had a new vocalist. Only when I looked up and realized he didn’t have red hair. Love it.

Heard this song for the first time this morning on SiriusXM’s Octane. As soon as I heard it I knew EXACTLY who I was sending this to. She told me that a couple days ago she sat with a rope in her hands contemplating on... well.. you get it.
Crazy enough... she was the one who, about 4 years ago, pushed me to go admit myself into a psychiatry unit. I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I ever made - and it was at her plea to me.
I LOVE the line: “I wouldn’t talk to a friend the way I talk to myself.” That is a heart-stoppingly brilliant and universal truth of anyone who has ruminated suicide ideation. That’s why it’s always “a shock” when family and friends never see it coming.

Matt isn’t Jonny...but holy cow are these songs good. “Bury a Lie,” “Prayers,” “Heavier,” and now “Talk to a Friend” have been straight fire. So much better than anything I was hoping for. Keep it up guys. I LOVE the sound and everything about the releases. Can’t wait for the new album.
It's better than everything previously including Beautiful Death. Whoever wrote BD and these songs were clearly the talent in the band.

You’re right, he isn’t Jonny. He’s better. More relatable lyrics that aren’t all about heroine, meth and cocaine abuse, with such a natural voice. To each their own, and respect for both vocalists, but I got into this band because of Jonny; 5 years later I’m an even bigger Matt McAndrew fan than I am of Jonny Craig.

@@Th3Freek They both Focus on different things in relation to their voices when they are singing, Though I cannot deny that because of Johnny's voice he is able to push emotion out, even if he isn't that way when he is recording. I do think that Matt sounds quite similar to Johnny in many regards however. Either way though they both have been able to make killer music in this band and I think to say one is better than the other is trivial.

Tbh thank god Jonny is gone . I’m so done with his shit over the past years . Matt honestly is doing a great job . I was able to see them live with Jonny and Matt and I prefer Matt’s stage presence . He did an awesome job and I wasn’t scared to approach the guy . He’s really sweet and nice . The amount of times I’ve had the opportunity to walk up to Jonny and take a picture the past 10 years and never did Bc low key kinda scared of his attitude lol . This is my favorite song so far . Matt is doing an amazing job .
You should have done it!! He played at a bar in Texas and me and my 2 buddies got pictures with him and actually had a drink with him. He proposed to his girl at the time there as well! All be aside he was beyond pleasant to talk to!

Honestly, I'd say Matt not only replaced Jonny but elevated this band to another level. They sound so damn fucking good and unique. Matt is the best vocalist they could've chosen without a doubt.

Heard this song for the first time today and it cut DEEP. Instant tears because I finally heard a song that described exactly how I was feeling. I haven't been able to put it into words, so it hit me hard in the best way. I shared the song with my husband and it sparked a conversation that allowed me to finally open up about my depression.
