DEX CHANGE UPDATE - Build works great, it may even be stronger with the recent DEX changes. I run the same attributes 116 STR, 200 DEX, 200 CON but now I am only going to be using energizing runeglass to return 5 stamina every hit every 3 seconds. I also swapped my amulet to the Champion's Amulet to give myself stamina incase I am pressured while low (think of this as a safety net) and the shirking empower on the amulet will synergize with the guaranteed critical damage from the new 150 DEX passive. The 15% rend on the 3rd Sword light attack chain is insane. Sets up big burst damage potential!
how about the 300 con build? does it not work anymore?
@@Tarrabah It works just fine. Same sustain just would have grit on all light/heavy attacks and be more tanky!
@@Krotha sweet as. I assume its better to run energizing runeglass with the 300 con build as well now?
@@Tarrabah Yes. If you have a bloodletting ring, drop the extended bleed on skewer and pick up strong conditioning on the left tree for more regen when low stamina.
does this build work still? have you got an updated link to it on paper?
Your guide is impressive, from the first day in new world I have loved the concept of Spartan sword/spear, it has been a bit difficult for me to understand all the guide since my English is not very good but constantly pausing the video and translating some things I have achieved get items not so perfect but optimal for a first attempt to replicate your build, I send you a hug!.
Now we just need a season 3 update 😎
As many have mentioned in the comments, one of the best, informative, no BS way, of not only explaining the build but more importantly, how to use it in combat. Excellent work. I would also say this gear layout, is a dream for the most part because of the crappy way NW system for crafting gear. The markets generally have nothing that you can make this gear set from and rolling (crafting) for this gear is a joke. Let's hope they follow through on their promise to give more control over gear creation back to the players otherwise, this gear is a at least a million gold coin away.
such a sick build love it and the explanations are all amazing thank you
Thank you. This video has helped me in so many ways, enhancing my skills and overall knowledge as a new player.
Awesome to hear that. Thank you!
Really good video for explaining perks, gems, runes etc. Thanks
I've always thought about how to include Cyclone in my spear build. Not a lot of people are seeing its potential. This is a very helpful video!
Glad I could help!
You have to drop CC to get cyclone and this usually is tough decision to make. SnS has CC so it's easier on that weapon combo. But good thing is, with the changes there is a good alternative to all spear abilities, each has place and it should be like this with all weapons.
@@FinchFinley Right now, Im using Spear/Hatchet. Having Cyclone makes it easier to fight close range but I had to drop Javelin. I miss the long range of the javelin but at 150ms I wasnt always hitting it anyway and with the way I fight I always hit Cyclone. Still deciding if Im keeping the 3m pushback though because it does interrupt combos.
@@Krotha Can I also ask why you dont have Empowering Leaping Strike on your weapon?
@@1ucky1ux Because it only buffs the damage on the target for 3 seconds. Most the time when you land leaping strike the target will dodge so you might get 1-2 light attacks off. When leaping strike is off cooldown, the perk is useless! Plague strikes is better utility because you can keep weaving heavy attacks to reapply plague strikes on the same target or on multiple targets.
Would love to see you post or recommend some INT build. FS+IG, FS+Rapier.
You are very informative in your videos and its first not clickbait video with builds
Subbed
I'll see what I can do. I mainly play Melee and the landscape for INT builds is going to change dramatically with the Abyss artifact allowing ice/fire/void builds access to a greataxe.
@@Krotha wow looks like huge changes. Currently I play Rapier+Musket because I can't synergize myself with FS and IG.
Leaping stike is very good especially for slow heavy users . Seen lots of tanks in pvp not use it and never understood it.
Love it! As a new player I absolutely love the explanation for everything.
Informative and fun. That ending credit scene was loaded.
I was able to snag some very cheap dex gear with bis perks for this for pretty cheap last night. Looking forward to trying this.
Subbed - This is the best new world build video - Keep it up
Seen you on kristofers vid your a monster man. I definitely need this build but idk you seem nice with most of your builds you put together
Alright day 1 of running this was a massive success. I honestly feel like the 300 con tank version ends up being more dps from your sustain and ability to stay on target longer even in PvX situations
Yeah if you are solo, definitely. I tend to do the 200 con setup when I'm in a group with heals since sustain is covered by the healer
I highly underestimated what the leeching gems brings to this build overall. You knocked it out of the park with this one. Sorry to spam comment, this is just the legit most fun build ive played in my 3k+ hours.
Have you managed to get all legendaries with all these perks or are you making do with purples?
@zergnub7426 I got nearly bis but missing the medium chest. Only got a purple resil/freedom.
The build is very cheap to put together since heavy dex gear is worthless to 90% of the servers.
What server are you on?
@@RossOnTop2 Nyx. Hmm, I've looked for the gear, but it's either not the right attributes, missing a perk, or not the right weight. Might be that I'll have to craft the chest and feet, which is a shame because RNG is a nightmare and I'll end up with purples.
Any new updates to this build?
perforate is applying weaknes from each hit landed, not only the 3rd one
Precisely
I love the concept of the Spartan build but I can't get past not having any sort of ranged option. I wish Spear had Aimed Throw like Hatchet. Then I probably would never put the weapon down. Great Video though. Honestly, probably the best build video I have ever seen.
Thank you!
Javelin…….❤❤
@@nodeflection5827 this actually made me lol. i hope this was just him joking. like, my brother in Christ. it's right there!
Loved it! Thank you !!! 😉
Such a great video, ty
This update has definitely allowed cyclone to really shine!
Javelin 4 ever in all citations)
What changes are you going to make for season 3? Why is Spear better than Rapier for this build?
Butcher sword artifact, 350 strength, 200 con, 50 focus if no divine amulet, 50 dex with divine amulet. Still need to test out armor artifacts but that's the quick and dirty path for the build for now. Need to wait for dynasty shipyard to cycle through mutations before I can make a video.
I was reading that Dex may scale better for damage seup than strength
@@Krotha
What's about the artifact spear and the pull ? @@Krotha
Amazing guide.
Why don't u use Lifestealing perk on weapons? do u feel like u gain enough hp back? how about attunement perk on the spear for non-300 con build?
You definitely could do that on the spear, so replace Thwarting Strikes with Leeching and sit at 15% lifesteal in total. I've found the tank setup is actually better than the damage setup for lifesteal, simply because of the consistency of hits you can land without getting staggered. Yes, attunement would be good for non 300 con build but remember, I made this build in the anticipation of cyclone getting buffed by 35% dmg. So I wanted to take advantage of buffing that hit as much as possible (since it has grit) along with the light and heavies on a tank setup. Thwarting strikes would also buff the damage setup cyclone a bunch since damage cyclone will get 11% from thwarting, 5% from strike dmg increase, and 10% bonus backstab damage.
Are we going to see an update from you for season 3? Maybe even a flail build?
Yes and yes
So I through a junkyard build together mostly solid 2 perkers and mostly 600-610 gs pieces and man the build I like a lot. What server you play on

Awesome video. Where do you get those timers right above your health bar. Thank you

@@Krotha ok tyvm 😊
i see most ppl who run s/s say not to take any of the improvements to shield rush due to the animation lock that the improvements come with. thoughts on that?
edit- i am new; i understand the basics of course but more nuance things like the importance of certain animation cancels is something i'm trying to figure out
the debuffs that shield rush applies are great. a strong weaken and slow debuff is great for peeling a target and when you get fortifying shield rush you will buff your armor when landing it. the reason why people don't get the buffs is so they can shield rush into a shield bash quickly to do a CC chain that the player cannot break out of. This is more used in a shield/spear build that uses javelin/sweep to continue the cc chain. I've played sword/shield for almost 5 years (since early alpha) and I can tell you that doing shield rush into a shield bash is an absolute waste

@@Krothafun fact, this was recently patched out i discovered. With any/all upgrades to shield rush, you can still chain a shield bash or light attack after :)
Bro excellent build! one question: why y use jagged on both weapons? they not stacks, what idea of it? TY
For constant dot pressure which will help generate heartrune faster. Sword jagged counts as a debuff so will buff spear's damage by 10% when swapping.
@@Krotha yeah, logical understood, TY! and about 4-5 resi , u use 5 or 4 resil? i guess 4 not enough. due to spear, bow and fire meta
@@vasilijsvoroncovs4586 I actually run with 4 resilience but ideally you want 5. Overall resilience will mitigate a ton of damage.
Yeah will it work with the Patch today !?... i dont know
Any new video's coming out soon as i do enjoy watching these vids 😊
Hey man with the new 150 dex change i was wondering is there any update on the build? cheers.
I will have an update video soon. Need to play the changes first
Nice guide 👍 what helmet or Helmet skin is he wearing?
Winged Knight's Helm
I really like this build. From the actual build to the "roleplaying" into a spartan soldier with his typical weaponry. My question is, does this also work for pve? Because alot of this build explains the cc into light attacks and chasing the enemy. But will this build go well in dungeons or raids?
Edit: i refer to the dps build for pve
I open world PvE with it all the time. You can hold your own in any elite area. I wouldn't use it for running M10 expeditions if you are going for gold/speed runs. There are WAY more optimized builds to do that. But for PvX it is solid!
hey so what should i replace resilient with since the perk has been removed liked and subbed awseome build
Shirking fort/shirking heal/freedom and then pick up leeching cyclone and enfeebling skewer on armor
@@Krotha thank you so much I have most of my gear with shirking and enchanted ward is that fine to ?
Do you think it will still be possible to play it after the nerf of leeching cyclone ?
Yes, typically you hit 1-2 targets so limit of 3 is no big deal. If you are diving into 4 or more you should have a healer. Even the old cyclone won't save you
@krotha is this build viable today? Doo you plan on making a build video for bruiser build?
Yes and yes!!! At Twitchcon will finish up those builds when I return
@@Krotha hell yeah!! enjoy yourself man!
Very nice guide!
What would you say for this build are the hardest matchups in a small scale setting? Thanks
Anything with blunderbuss since the weapon is op, medium rapier/spear
Cool cool thanks for the quick reply!
Do you prefer the tank build? Tested the other one and its really fun and strong :)! And Iam still missing some stuff in my gear...
But I have bigger problems with mages (ig / fs). The burst + mobility + cc combo really hurts. Not sure, how to play right against good mage players. Could you show some duels on that? :)
I swap between both attribute setups constantly. Depends on what I'm fighting.
Hey, did I missed it? Watched it 2 times... Did you mention, why a defensive Heartrune now? ^^
Defensive heartrune for healing/sustain but also to power through hard ccs, ice showers, ripostes, etc.
Atm Iam using Shadow's Edge (Rogue, Enchanted, Keenly Empowered). But I god a Predator's Brand Sword with Plagued Strikes, Shirking Flames and Vicious... What would you prefer in this build?
Did you do any testing with the Shirking perks? They look pretty cool to me. Iam playing arena a lot and your Spartan Build is really good working there! :)
Shirking dmg perk has too long a cool down, attunement works better with the tempo of the builds attacks
I like the Style of ur Video Mate, never seen that before...Great Job
^ x2
Feels like the Great Axe 101 video he made before, but 2 hours of explanations condensed into 16 minutes. Great video.
Dude this is awesome, even without the s2 update out yet. Just got the loadout on my new char (lvl 25), and a as i was watching your video to the end while standing around in pvp, a lvl 60 showed up. Sure enough he was waiting the pvp timer out. Left him with 10% hp when get killed me, if i didnt have lvl health pots, might've won lol. Not saying he by any means was good. The gameplay looks so fun!
Mistake here, he meant to say “aimbot” 11:58
Been trying this build as a new player and i'm getting obliterated. The only thing i miss are the runeglass gems and the BiS weapons, does it make that much of a difference ? Can i aim for similar weapons that don't have the exact same perks ? Very complete and comprehensible guide btw ty.
What is giving you a hardtime?
I’d say survivability as a whole, even with 300 con i tend to die very fast in most scenarios. I’m also nowhere near your damages but that’s probably because my spear has neither keenly jagged/enfeebling skewer (those are hard to come by) Any suboptimal spear i can try to obtain?
Thanks for answering btw; i appreciate
@@balatek3081 So a lot of surviving as a melee is based on positioning. You always want to protect your back from other melee so they cannot automatically crit. I always prioritize pushing range because the melee will follow me to that target. If I just sit on a melee (without a healer) I will get teed off on by the range which is not sustainable.
To do more damage, you need to recognize which moves apply empower. Sword heavy attack before a combo, sometimes I even do a double sword heavy, one fast heavy then a fully charged one and always aiming for the back if possible. Skewer can also provide empower if it crits so saving your cyclone for when you have empower and your target has the perforate rends will help increase your damage.
For being defensive, use gemstone dust to overcharge your magic resistance when fighting against mages or outnumbered. Most people will have an elemental attunement, chain, runeglass or shirking elemental weapon which will help mitigate this bonus damage. The build has many ways to give yourself fortify so when you proc that buff make sure you are getting the full value out of it. For example, if I use shield rush and get fortify I want to play aggressive and actually let the target land hits. If I did shield rush into a block the fortify buff would be useless. Don't waste those buffs!
The biggest advice I can give you is to record yourself playing and critique your mistakes and identify what you did well in a fight. Change your mindset when pvping, never go into a fight thinking you are going to lose because someone else is "better" or "has gear". F all that. Rise above and never stop fighting!!!
Man thanks for the detailed answer, i actually started playing around my empowers all the time and got lucky enough to find your exact SnS in a gypsum chest. WR dramatically increased. Great build, keep it up@@Krotha (mages are still a huge pain to deal with tho :'))
The game sound is make it dificult to hear what he is saying 4:20. Maby when you explain some thing you could turn that down a bit
I may have missed it but what version of stoneform are you running? I was leaning towards the lifesteal one but figured id ask as I dont even have stoenform yet lol.
Stalwart for the heal over time. Divine perk will buff the heal also
Great build. Can I ask, if I can't afford or find legendaries for the build, can I craft purples and upgrade?
Start with getting 2 perk gear which should be very cheap to buy off the market. Resilient/Freedom then acquire the weapon perks or shirking fort. For the weapons, you want enfeebling skewer or leeching cyclone on the spear with lifestealing or a damage perk like thwarting strikes or attunement. Any 2 perk combination with a weapon perk and a damage perk to start. For the sword you want attunement with plague strikes and eventually you will get a 3rd damage perk like rogue, enchanted, keenly empowered, keenly jagged etc. Which ever perk you get on your sword, you want to compliment it with the perks on the shield. I recommend rolling a fortifying shield rush, keenly jagged shield to start. Hope this helps!
@@Krotha Massive help. Thank you so much. There's nothing on trading post with those perks on sword, so I guess I'll just craft an epic with attunement and plague strikes. There are sword on there with auttunement and rogue, but no plague, which seems to be a major aspect of the build. Thanks again.
@@zergnub7426 Plague for Arenas for sure, attunement rogue for OPR since you just want to get quick kills and there can be several healers on 1 target. Plague still good in OPR but can be more easily countered when outnumbered.
@@Krotha literally the most helpful content creator I've known. Thank you so much.
@@Krotha I rolled a legendary sword with arboreal attunement, plague strikes and vicious. Don't think I can ask the RNG gods for more to be honest
Which named sword would you suggest to use before acquiring BIS one?
Shadow's Edge
Ok so I have this build almost done except for the runeglass but I am missing fortifying perforate. To get it I have to sacrifice a freedom or shirking on my gear and go down to 3(+1) freedom or 4 shirking. Is it worth doing it?
Atm I have
Skewer on wep
Leaping strike on gear
Cyclone on gear
Shield rush on shield
5 shirking
4 freedom
4 resilient
Shadows edge
Threefold Stormgore spear
I would remove the leaping strike from gear but if not possible, go for freedom over 4 shirking, more balanced playstyle.
@@Krotha thanks for the reply!
I noticed that you mention the round shield, but use the ogival, why?
It's a skin. So it makes my opponents think that I have a tower shield when I block.
Will Thwarting strikes still increase cyclone damage without having 300 con?
Yes!
Subbed
So charging the heavy and canceling with leaping strike I notice you said this for shield bash as well what does this due if it’s a cancel don’t it still trigger the heavy?
Great question.
Still triggers the heavy but it cleans up the animation by ending it early once you activate a skill. Basically any light or heavy attack you use can be canceled with an ability if the timing is right. There is an animation that plays after you land the basic attack and are returning back to a normal position. Using a skill on the backend of a basic attack will skip the final portion of the animation while still landing all damage. Make sense?
Awesome Ty seen ur vid and said yup this is my next build I personally love fa/bb and gs/ht but really want to try my hand at something that has more Survivability
Last question which do you prefer enfeebling skewer or fortifying perforate?
@@huddiezilla6643 If it's for the weapon, enfeebling skewer. You will get fortify from shirking and fortifying shield rush. The extra fortify from perforate is really not needed. If you land the skewer, that is a 44% weaken debuff which prevents the need for you to have mitigation to defend against the attack since you are reducing the incoming damage. Also great to use for peeling an enemy off a teammates.
Twarting Strikes on Spear just for the tank build, right? Else just Cyclone benefits?!
Correct.
hey Krotha is the dracula build still good ??? wanna comeback to the game
Working on the updated video. Just got the blooddrinker ring, waiting on one more artifact before I can release it. But yes, lifestealing is a great solo PvE setup for elite mob grinding and can potentially be decent in PvP. Still too soon to tell!

Not really when you have the full arsenal of sword/shield to carry. You don't want to waste time with spear CCs when you can be generate CDR with light/heavy attack dodge combos
Would this work for PVE?
Yes it can, I would swap shield rush for whirling blade to get more damage and the 15% rend debuff. Same passives, only go down to the rend on whirling blade.
did cyclone get a buff?
It will get a huge buff in season 2. What you are seeing is the unruffled version
any info on bis for named spear?
Great question. Unjustly Executer, Timberleech, Threefold Stormgore, Tempered Expectations
why not go 5 shirking fort, cuz I think 3 shirking really don worth it on med
Because we get fortify from Shield rush and perforate. Also, with all the weaken debuffs 5 shirking fort is unnecessary.

Hello, i want to ask you a question,is a ring with Leeching, invigorated punishment and sacred good for this build? using leeching runeglass in the armor, i found one in the market and buy it just in case is good. Thank you nice build im enjoying using it
Good question. Sacred doesn't help. If you can, get thrust damage, leeching, invig punishment.
@@Krotha TY VM
Seen a guy in my server run a similar build on OPR, mf just goes 1v5 backcap, breaks the door, breaks the spawn, breaks the war camp, and escapes alive every single time. Not a build for all players, but absolutely disgusting if you can pull it off. Cant wait to see it with all the buffs in Season 2.
This is me trying out your build with some variation. First I have gone for fortifying perforate on spear (with chain and rogue for damage and ulti charge), secondly I have skipped the additional stun second on shield bash and went for the extra armor and ”divine” in sns tree spec. I have shadows edge and fortifying rush on shield + heart of Aviva ring. My aim has been to try and bring some more damage to the 300 con build so I also run empowered leaping strike. With a sacred I literally can’t die. However, I am a bit worried about the upcoming changes to dex dodge and I think we will have to go hearty on ring for the 300 con build. Thanks for the build idea!
ruclips.net/video/iJbIPaAwFiw/видео.html
All solid decisions and good logic. The dex change will increase the builds damage since we will have a guaranteed critical after dodging. Hearty on ring is a surefire way to protect from stamina exhaustion or energizing runeglass if you are willing to sacrifice lifesteal
@@Krotha yea might have to switch to energizing tbh. The 5+3% with ring and weapon gem might be enough.
Nice
such a broken build, cant wait for it to be nerfed.
This has been a viable playstyle since launch. The only thing that changed was sweep to cyclone. What makes it strong is 150 dex in medium costing 30 stamina to move plus all the ways you can generate Stam and CDR on spear. This patch didn't really change much. The footage you are seeing is all before season 2.
@@Krotha thats what I mean its been broken ages ago already with the unlimited stamina bullshit in Medium loadout and now also the insane dmg + insane heals from cyclone… on top of that it also slows down targets like wtf…
@@Lexuuu997 It's not broken, they entire dexterity line is about stamina efficiency, mobility and out maneuvering your opponent. Making them miss their attacks, waste CCs. Whereas most strength builds are just about running over your target and dropping a payload of abilities.
