Brilliant tutorial, very clear, steady and pleasant narration. Just finished my first lampshade which i'm really pleased with thanks to your clear instructions. Thoroughly enjoyed making the lampshade and will def do more in lots of different fabrics. Thank you :)
Thank you so much - I am afraid to say that I had one your your lovely shade kits in the cupboard under the stairs for a year, it was a Christmas gift, I was afraid to start it in case it all went horribly wrong. Not anymore, thanks to your user friendly tutorial I am confident enough to "get it done" and I'll be buying more - once again, thank you, thank you, thank you :0)
Another comment by me. I just ordered my first lampshade kit from your website and I’m excited to receive it and make my custom lampshade. I’ve always wanted to do this but without a kit with all the supplies I was intimidated by what I had to buy.
Only thing I would add is to leave an extra 1cm at one end, so you can fold it in. Its slightly thicker when you tuck it into the ring, but you have a nice tidy edge on the shade which wont fray
Lovely tutorial, simply explained and I’ve had a fab afternoon ,well a few hours making a lampshade.BUT i made the mistake that.......i wanted my lampshade to be put on a lamp NOT a ceiling light. This meant that i needed to put the wire frame with the light figment at the bottom not the top of my lampshade. I put it at the top so when i went to put it on my lamp i had a lovely shade but there was 6” of bulb showing! I couldn’t turn it upside down as the material was directional. So ive not wasted it it is now hanging from the ceiling. I’ll make another one and avoid that mistake now. It maybe worth mentioning in your video unless you did and i wasn’t concentrating! Thanks anyway so much easier to watch someone before making it yourself.
Just used this to make some lampshades. Used pillow cases to make lamps to match the bedding. Look fantastic. Only question I had was that the tape provided did not seem quite wide enough to cover all of the metal. May be me. Does the tape have to cover the whole metal rim? Also struggled t use teh tool to tidy up the rim. I presume this was because the glue was not on the rim? Still look fantastic and will do definitely try again
Thank you so much. I have been waiting for dates for a one on one course in Brisbane, now I dont have to go. I wonder if an Empire shade is much harder to make.? Thanks again great Tutorial.
Thanks for the comment we have made a video for the empire shade as well, it's much the same as the drum shape www.dannells.com/30cm-empire-lampshade-making-kit-duplex-fitting-2862-p.asp hope that helps
If the panel has been rolled up in the box for a long time it may not lay flat, if you want the panel to be flat you can roll it up in reverse, or you can lay it flat and put some weight on the panel. Unfortunately, the only way to get the panel in the box is to roll it up. In the manufacturing packs or the workshop packs the panels are supplied flat as the box is 140cm wide. Hope that helps
Ridiculous ! I dont see Sam trying to make a lampshade with a tightly rolled panel !!!! hers is flat ! 100times easier................. very unrealistic, good thing I have lots of pebbles to use as weights
I have just seen your Ad while watching RUclips. ( Feb 2021) Omg 😱 I couldn’t even concentrate on what the video was about, as I’ve never seen such rotten lampshade and lamp bases. They don’t even go together. The only good thing was the presenter explained things very clearly. Please remake this Ad, so it doesn’t look like it was made in the 70s or 80s

That is good I like how it is all prepared

The tape should be 9mm and its wide enough for the rings, watch our tutorial video above to see how its used in full
thank you! can you help me make a very shallow conical lampshade? i think i could do it if you made me a pvc self adhesive template....
You can create your own template here www.dannells.com/lampshade-designer-73-w.asp and you can also order one here also
Great video! What is the name of the triangle finishing tool you are using?
It is called " Rolled Edge Tool " more details can be found here www.dannells.com/rolled-edge-tool-165-p.asp
Can you use wallpaper with this kit ?
Yes, you can use wallpaper, but some (easy tearing) may be a little tricker than others (Vinyls)
brilliant, whats the width of that slim piece of pvc you pull away from the top and bottom once you have stuck the fabric to it?
Its 15mm each side Liz
Boa tarde gostaria de saber se vc vende alguma cúpula
Which type of paper is used?
No paper is being used in this video, its fabric, you can use paper though, wallpaper is good
Boa tarde quanto é o kit

Is it ok if we use polyester fabric?
No problem
How do you get the rolled!! PVC to be flat!!

You really need a USA distributor.. Love the kits but unfortunately the shipping makes them too costly.
Hi Stephen, we are talking to some distributors at the moment so if you send us your details we can keep you updated when we have one in place, David
It's too gud..👌👍.. superb vedio!! What is the tape in pink color and the white one that used on fabric..

Perhaps they should have consulted with you first?
What a strange thing to stress about 🙄
@@JAB941 lol. Your right. So true. I’m obviously watching way to many decor videos. I’ve moved onto gardening. Less stressful !

To much talking !
