I love this mode SRV etc. Love your channel, you are the guitar ambassador on youtube, i did learn the 5 major scales on the neck, but now I am boxed in, I am looking to learn the neck of the guitar, playing any where on the neck. Do you have a video that teaches how you move around on the neck easily?
Really helpful for me. I don’t know why I find it odd (I’m relatively new to guitar from a lifetime of drums) and have CAGED down - why do people use numbers instead of the CAGED letters to denote the various‘shapes?’ Are the numbers different for major vs minor? Thank you for the helpful lesson!

Marty, can you explain how you start on shape 4 for Mixolydian on the e string when it was shape 1 for the major scale? Thought it was all the same just the root changes.
It’s hard to hear the sound of the mixolydian mode when you’re only playing one chord. That’s the whole point of modal harmony- the tonal center is not “doh”

You only have to play the F Mayor or the D Minor Scale. C is the fifth (Mixolydian) of F. The Target Note should be the B flat. It's quiet easy....

Or just treat it as a major scale with a flat 7th based on whatever note you are using as a root.
Don't over complicate this. Just tell everyone the fingerings for C Mix are the same as G Dorian and D natural miner in the same position.
Simply cannot decipher the different shapes - based on this 2, 3, 4 are what I've always seen as 1, 4, 5 elsewhere.
You ever figure it out bc I am taking the course and I am lost.
