Great, well structured video. Ignore the guys arguing with you, saying it's because of abuse. There have apparently been material changes in later iterations of the controller to prevent the deterioration you've seen; obviously it was an issue. The L1/R1 really irks me, the Dualshock 3 really had it spot on; why the hell did they change it?
You just got a defective unit then. Mine is doing just fine when it comes to the thumbsticks. However, the face-plate has come loose about a week after purchase. That's what really bothers me...
Fantasy Fangs no the same things happening to me to, they need to fit this shit asap, i send my first controller to sony, to fix, in the mean time i bought one, and i got it back 1 month after lol so long, and now both of my controller need to be send back to sony. bs

With an excellent controller you shouldn't have to worry about all of this. For example the 360 Controller, it lasts forever, I use mine for PC since 4 years and it is still like on the first day. But the PS4 controller has such an inconsistent built quality, its like playing poker when buying one. Sony did a terrible job on the materials and built quality. I woke up to purple LED on the DS4. The only buttons that register are the PS hpme button and X. X only works when the screen prompts me to put it in rest mode (since I cant use the dpad or L3. My PS4 is 9 months new and the ds4 is 2 months neq
Honestly this controller seems to be really badly designed and a downgrade from the DS3. It looks cool and everything but the actual functionality seems very shoddy and so many people are already having issues with the analog sticks or L1/R1. Not very promising, they better make a new batch of the controllers soon with upgraded parts.
The DS4 is a big upgrade from the DS3 in almost every way. There are a few issues I am experiencing with the DS4 and I just wanted to share them and expose them. Hopefully Sony does something about it and improves upon the design and materials used.
I definitely prefer the DS3 and it's still my favorite controller. I bought a DS4 to use on my PC and I just do not like how the thumbsticks feel. It's almost like there's barely any range of movement from the deadzone to the outside and there's too much resistance. I didn't like the thumbsticks on the 360 controller either for this reason and Microsoft fixed them with the Xbox One pad. I'll continue using my DualShock 3 on my PC until Microsoft come out with the dongle and drivers for the XONE controller.
Give sony a break it was their first time changing the controller after around 20 years its an upgrade in everyway besides analog material, button funtionality and the battery life is bad
triggers sucks mine are sweaky and annoing. the light is bright and pointless and annoying. the sticks are cheap and wear out quick and the touchpad is more of a gimmick than anything. the xbox 360 controller is still the best out there in my opinion xbox shouldnt have changed the controller at all
You need to change your way to play as well. Be careful with your gear. Don't be rough with it. You point problems, but they aren't really that harmful. *1st* The stick material is the same from the previous (DualShock3). Obviously the grip of the texture will wear off, like any normal material. But that takes a lot of time with the quality of the DualShock4. Your buttons are damaged because of the placement of your fingers. Learn to play with your fingers placed at the top. That bad placement also creates health problems like *Playstation Thumb* ... I think it's pretty self-explanatory. *2nd* Even when the R1 and L1 buttons are stuck, if you press them, they accept the command so don't worry. And all the people I know press the both buttons on top. *Altought I gotta admit that angled buttons would be a cool concept and idea*
I take good care of my stuff. Trust me. Also, I do place my thumbs on the top and do not push the sticks from the side. I was just doing that in the video to demonstrate how rubbery the sicks are starting to become on one side. You should check out some display units at BestBuy, GameStop, or Walmart. Take a look at the controllers and you'll see what is happening to the sticks. It looks like this is not happening to all controllers.
Admiral Adi mine already summed a really big time usage, but still no issues. Maybe that doesnt happen to all. I just hate when they become a little greasy after a long pause period like coming from vacations. That is annoying. The same happened to dualshock 3. At least they created a new controler, not like Xbox which is always the same thing.
Uwot Matte I've had the material on the Dualshock 4 thumbsticks split on the sides of 4 different ps4 controllers with under 4 months of heavy use, and the tab of the Right Trigger (R2) break on 3. Both of which I've repaired myself but it's definitely an issue with Dualshock 4 controllers and a little research can easily prove it's a common complaint of consumers worldwide. I have 4 Dualshock 3 controllers that have 9+ years of heavy use with 0 issues and am a diehard PS fan... My point is the differences between the DS3 and DS4 are significant and have created some common complaints that should be addressed and reengineered for future manufacturing.
chris hardt yeah but the feel on dualshock3 is really "sloppy" I might say. Maybe yes, it is more fragile but I suppose that is normal on new equipment. iPhone vs. Old Nokia for example. The Nokia is though has a brick. iPhone screen can crack in one fall.
***** ds3 had multiple versions and the first line of production was short bc of the internal construction issues later reported. So yeah, DS3 had problems like this. 1.5 year has passed and my only DS4 still looks fresh and feels great. And yes I use it a lot.
May I say to all with this problem, contact your supplier, the analog stick coming apart should be covered by warranty. Mine was and Amazon refunded the price of a controller.
NinjaHamsters101 Well I'd had the PS4 for a few months so it wasn't the 30 day warranty, and I haven't bought any extra warranty. All I did was to speak to someone from Amazon on their web chat thingy, and they gave me my money back on the controller.
What method did you use to wipe down the controller before filming/recording this video? I first thought it was just taken out of its packaging for the first time.. impressive maintenance..
Xbox will always dominate when it comes to controllers my brother has had his ps4 for a year (it runs great :)) I have had my Xbox one for 2 years I still have the controller from the box while my brother has gone through 3 controllers! His first had both of the joystick rubbers ripped off he had blisters in his thumbs he got a white one which flat out would not charge he went back to the old one but he put on control freaks that's one was broken by accident he got one more and it has been really good!
Theres tons of forums of the grips doing this. So its not how he plays. Its happened to two of my brothers controllers. Not me personally since i always put grips on my controllers (the same ones he shows). Something i never though of is putting them on inside out so they go right on. My dumb ass struggles for like 30 seconds whenever i take them off and put them back on.
Just wait till your R2 button goes.... The hinge breaks making it not snap back. AS soon as mine broke, I Googled "broken PS4 controller" and most results were about the R2 button, and the analog sticks, along with the R1, L1 buttons you mentioned... Really bad on Sony's part. As a long time supporter, since PS1, I now have to ship my controller in, along with pay for shipping, and go through this hassle, and then wait 7-10 days so they can repair the controller, (their incredibly expensive, yet incredibly flimsy and cheap controllers might I add). These things should cost $10 with this kind of build quality and battery life.
Compilation .King Yeah, both systems have their ups and downs. Just go with what your friends play most. That's what I did. Nothing beats playing with your best buds.
You need to love and respect it. You can't go around roughing it up. It's not there just to be used, but to bring you joy. You only need to lightly nudge it to the side with your thumb placed directly in the middle.
I had the issue with R1 on two different Dual Shock 4 controllers. Sticking like that in fact the they would stay in. I found them quite poor and the battery is terrible too I have to agree. On XB1 the controller is amazing battery life. I have rechargeable batteries in and I have not charged them for over two weeks as yet.
Another issue is sticky R2/L2 buttons. And I know this may be isolated, 5 months after buying the PS4 my sprinting button which is L3 is damaged, I can barely sprint because the analog stick is almost unresponsive when I do so, this problem happened to me on PS3 but after long time of use, nearly 3 years, I've only had my Dualshock 4 for 5 months, this is unacceptable. They will accept the controller in since it's under warranty, but I would have to wait weeks without playing, furthermore from previous complaints they charge you for shipping, I do not want to pay twenty bucks to replace a faulty controller and wait weeks without playing, this is awful, I might as well just go buy a new one before sending this faulty one in, it comes with two years warranty and you can just return it right away if something happens to it and it's from a retail store.
TheShockerKnocker I already got a new controller since this comment. Yea it's an issue that occurs with a lot of controllers, and you still have to pay like 10-20 bucks to ship it to them even if it's free of charge. It looks like this will keep re-occurring a lot faster than it would occur on a Dulashock 3, and the controller is supposed to be built to last longer, shame on Sony.
Good video, just a heads up, Sony have announced they will replace Dualshock 4's at the retailer you bought your PS4 from or if you send it back to Sony, for completely free, until the problem is addressed.
Admiral Adi where did you get those grips... and do they pop up during play as I currently have the Orb Thumb Grips, one of my mates style of play causes it to pop off.
I got them from Gamestop for $7.99 for 2 pairs. (2 blue and 2 black, a total of 4 grips) They do not come off during play. They are called GelTabz. They have them for the Xbox as well. I am not sure if there is any difference between them other than the color. On the back it says its for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii U Pro, Wii. www.gamestop.com/accessories/geltabz-performance-thumb-gripz/112741
Not true, depends on size of your hands & how you hold it, you may actually activate from the side (unknowing or otherwise). To expect people to only activate at the direct top is not good engineering, & I know a thing or 2 about controls as an developer for the car dashboard. There is no way you can tell your client that a certain button should only be tested & use by pressing at a specify spot. I have a PS4 also, but the 360 controller allow the bumper buttons (equivalent of L1 & R1) can be pressed on the side & top without issues, & I had it since 2007.
Hey, I used a link to your video in an email I sent Sony regarding these issues. I too am having these problems and I want to bring it to their attention. I hope this is okay. Thank you.
The first two problems i had and agree are disappointing but both have easy work-arounds as you have shown. The last two points i never really noticed.
what about the dead zones in the xone controllers analog sticks, what about the terrible bumpers, what about the fact that the only console seller (halo) is a dying series
+Mitchell Staley hahaha bro it's all about popular opinion... if Xbox was more popular this year and u had and Xbox instead, I could bet u money u would defend Xbox, and btw if u think ps4s bumpers are better, u have never used an Xbox controller
+Nathaniel Hartley I will defend the Xbox 360 tooth and nail over the PS3, I almost hate the PS3. I got the ps4 because of better hardware and better exclusives. Im as unbiased as possible.
The thing With the light being constantly on îs the problem for short battery life, Hope they în the next update they Will fix this, and Yeah you r wright. We don't need that light,at least we have the option to dime it,the ps4 it has alot of room for improvements,Hope they Will listen to us, great video, spot on With all the issueses.
My ds4 got sent bk to Sony for the left stick wearing and the right analog which started grinding and became very difficult to move from dead zone. Shipping was free, so I can't complain, and it took 9 days to get my brand new Ds4 bk. New one seems to be made of better quality parts. Touchpad feels different and the analogs aren't as stiff, which I like better. Wish they kept the analog stiffness the same as on ds3. Went back to playing bf4 on ps3 while ds4 was away and really enjoyed the feeling of my old ds3 pad and felt like controlling my bf4 character seemed smoother and faster paced.
hey guys...my ps4 controller switched of 5 min, after i started the system and wont connect anymore...the led lightbar blinks white..what does it mean..software issue??
I just recently got a PS4, but hearing about the thumbsticks losing their rubber coating so quickly, I instantly bought some controller caps. Mine were € 6 for 4 pairs, Speedlink Stix. Can't go wrong with that.
This is huge! over 7 million controllers that are garbage. its not like they didn't have enough time to test. this is why I'm getting Xbox! This has never been a problem with any Sony products! Xbox tested their controllers vigorously. Sony had to know this was a problem.
all is great about this controller except for: 1. Battery Life is much shorter compared to DS3 lasts about 6-8 hours 2. the thumbsticks wore off overtime when playing shooters. Fortunately there for me, I got an extra controller, a charging station and thumb grips to fix these problems
Where do you buy the rubber thing for your analog stick? Mine is really starting to wear down and that seems like a great idea. All i play is FIFA and I wish I had time to play for 6 hours. haha, I bought my PS4 when it came out, I wish I would of complained about the remote long time ago to game stop but I thought controls were not under warranty.
hey, thanks for the video... tonight i noticed that my two controllers won't charge unless i put the control upside down... it sounds crazy but true. also where did you get the plastic caps? thanks
OMG SAME! I was taking cafe of the controller and it stopped charging randomly. I thought my charger was broken (Maybe is) but putting it on a different angle helps it charge
There always has to be SOMETHING with the Dualshocks, for the first two it's the sticks disintegrating and sweating, for the third it was the sunken-in triggers, and for 4 it's... well, this. Eh, still like its layout better than the Xbox's.
My controller started to suffer the analog stick rubber problem yesterday, Amazon were nice enough to refund the price of a new controller and let me keep the original. I'm now going to fit protective nubs on the old and new controller.
yes, i found it is an issue on thumbsticks too after a long-time play of Watch Dog.I start to miss the texture they make for ps3 controller's thumbsticks.
I play for four hours each day and my controllers battery lasts for 4-6 days. Also, cut you're fingernails so you arent ripping the hell out of the sticks. And the L1 button hasn't stuck once.
Oh and you can change the brightness of the led light on the controller. There is dim, medium, and bright. It makes a huge difference even though there was nothing wrong with it.
The L1/R1 stuck for me when I bought a second controller. I had to pop them out and clean off the crusted lubricant from the manufacturing plant. Popped them back in and they were fine. There are videos on RUclips that explain how to do it--or you can skip to about 5:30. My brother had issues with the analog stick peeling/ripping with the first generation controller. Mine seems fine but it appears they used cheaper rubber with his. Sony was replacing any of the 1st gen controllers (serial numbers on the back that start with a 1--if your serial #/model label is worn out, you more than likely have a 1st gen controller like me) that had this defect at the cost of the consumer for shipping. They've never actually admitted it otherwise we would all have new controllers.
After little usage? um i have my PS4 for over a year and it is still like it has been since day one. Maybe it's from you pushing down too much. I would put it down to user abuse not ps4 control problem. The fact this video was published about 4-5 months after the ps4 came out shows you really must have treated it like shit
+Patrick Tuohy I have treated it with great care, trust me. I do not push the sticks from the side. I was just showing how the rubber is wearing out. The rubber started falling apart within days of usage. I had my PS3 controller for 7 years and this has never happened to those before.
regardless of your experience I can say that there are a lot of problems with the controllers. I've had 2 break in 18 months. I had my PS3 for years and never needed a new controller
No, you are not the only one. i have the same issue as well. it's usually the camera or my character moving, only after pushing down L2 or R2. ive used those buttons so much, all 3 of my controllers have that issue. a lot of FFXIV and DCUO tens to use those buttons a lot (me, in my case) only way is to replace the buttons or spend another $60 :/ but i went on to pc so i dont wear out my buttons like i usually do.
yeah, stop using the control, that's a great way to fix a problem that shouldn't have occurred in the first place, for the players, who can't game, because the control needs to be rested pmsl
well, the reason for the 1 buttons is that, there are people with different hand sizes, they cant go by your hand, and the light and the battery are both one reason in a way, so three reasons in all not four
my ps4 dualshock 4 problems:ruber on the analog sticks becomes slippery when used a short period of time,L2 trigger moves felt and right easily, makes like scratching noises, moving the analog sticks makes a grinding noise, everything else seems fine
Great vid, I agree with everything you said. The controller the is best one i've ever had with the exception of the problems you listed. Let us disable the shitty, gimmick light, and let us use AA's instead of a shitty 1000mah battery.
Please reply to this post; i have been using my ps4 controller for over 6 months now and recently i have started facing seriously annoying problems with it and i just wanted to know if its happening with other people as well. So whats happening is that for inexplicable reasons the audio from the speaker on the controller is breaking quite frequently( when i am playing games like gta5 or killzone), the audio jack is facing issues(The voice starts breaking) and the most shitty problem of all is that for no reason at all suddenly my controller starts working very weird. LIke when i am playing Gta or fifa or any other game the analogs don't seem to do what i want them to, like the camera rotation from the right analog gets stuck and the camera keeps on rotating for 5 to 6 seconds more than i actually use the right analog. the characters seem to go anywhere and to anything but i want them to do(SOMETIMES I CAN'T EVEN DO THE FRIGGIN CROSSOVERS PROPERLY IN FIFA).......this is kinda hard to explain but its seriously annoying, its just a serious malfunction...so pls reply to this post as soon as possible
Nah, that happened to me too after 1 month of using the PS4 controller. The solution, which is going to sound like blasphemy, is to buy a set of Xbox One analog stick replacement parts. It's easy to replace them, and the Xbox One's analog stick material is more durable.
I don't know what you people are doing to your controllers but I had mine since launch and it's doing good still. The only problem i have is the battery life.
I have those same exact grips, and the sides of them hit the analog stick guard plastic, so it makes it hard to move them when they are against the edge. Did you have that problem?
u got a defective controller. i had mine for 3 and half months and have no issues with it and the battery last longer then 6 hours, iv played over 15 hours before plugging in the charger
+Tomas Chazarreta bitch boy that's because you have the newer version. Sony released a version that fixed this issue. you just so happen to have that one. maybe just throw it away and find a way to use the xbox one controller 🤐
WoW! I was about to upgrade the old PS3 to PS4 but seeing this I think I am going to hold fire and consider the XBOX One. A controller that goes tech within a short space of use and that only holds a charge for a qtr of the time of previous controllers is not what I want. Like any serious gamer, I do NOT want controller problems, I do not want problems nor do I expect them. When you spend £350 on a console you expect it to work and to work for years and to be reliable.
I have that exact same issues, just playing FIFA! Except that my R2 is also stuck!! I wish someone could help me with the R2 button issue, could I remove it like you did with the L1?
Hi my friend, i did follow every step as shown in your video, but my dual shock just does not turn on, the pad heats so fast, but doesnt turn on :( any suggestions?
Depending on what game you play any of the back buttons will go depending which button bashing u use most both R2 buttons have sticked on both my controller playing Bf4 only had it 3 months Sony needs to sort it. Reason y battery life is low is because they want u to have 2 controllers which I got mugged into buying its all about money money money
have the same problem with my controller the plastic worn out after use, especially with fifa2014 , only solution as u did to get plastic covers or else u will have to buy a new controller after months of use
Ive been having a problem with my controller, so my x button has been functioning as an x button AND a ps button, (the middle one that sends u to ps4 home) And really i cant play games that consist of the x button because it sends me to home and when i hold the x button it sends me to the menu that u would go if u were to hold the ps button and ive reset my controller and ps4 nothing has happened.
Day after ps4 launch I witnessed a ps4 left analog stick already falling apart to the point the rubber was missing on the lower half. This was in a Sony store by the way. I knew then I would most likely if not pass of this Gen ps I would only buy used 3 to 4 years out as the product was being cheaply made.
True. That feature wasn't available when I made this video. That software patch that gave you the option came way after. But still, dimming the light doesn't fix the issue completely. It just makes the light less intrusive. There is still absolutely no advantage or practicality of the LED light being on. At least not for me.
The light on the controller is badass
Till it drains the battery
i like this guy, there are problems with this controller, but he shows solutions and he doesn't hate a lot on sony like a lot of fanboys, good video man!

what are u doing chewing on your controller?
Actually it wears out like that after usage. You are just an idiot.
Asadmah Productions
only if your using to much force on it.. be gentle on the controller
i am not constantly focusing on being gentle with the controller. i am just playing the games and having fun not hard handed.
TheDutchOwner's Tech Channel i think the controllers fine its just you haters that want to make a problem of it
keenan allen Im a pretty big sony fan boy but i can say i was more than pissed after my controller wore out from a month of using it.
I woke up to purple LED on the DS4. The only buttons that register are the PS hpme button and X. X only works when the screen prompts me to put it in rest mode (since I cant use the dpad or L3. My PS4 is 9 months new and the ds4 is 2 months neq

DS4 is leagues above DS3 its just its wearing out faster other then that its better in every way
Give sony a break it was their first time changing the controller after around 20 years its an upgrade in everyway besides analog material, button funtionality and the battery life is bad

GamingWithRobin HOW do u do that buddy??
Just go to settings, devices, controller, and than you can adjust the brightness :)
hopefully my battery will last longer thanks
B-b-but... the d-pad on the 360 controller...
this is actually a great video. thank you so much for this and for the fixes.
Is that under a 30 day warranty or a paid version? Or perhaps you had a nice deal for it or did they changed that? Just curious... :)
NinjaHamsters101
Well I'd had the PS4 for a few months so it wasn't the 30 day warranty, and I haven't bought any extra warranty.
These things should cost $10 with this kind of build quality and battery life.
so should I get xbox one? As far as I know both systems have cons but it seems ps4 has a bit more.
Compilation .King Get ps4 xbox one is worse
WhiteWarrior yeah think I will.
Compilation .King Yeah, both systems have their ups and downs.
Just go with what your friends play most. That's what I did.
Nothing beats playing with your best buds.
Joe M. friends? lol. I don't have many now but when I did they preferred the xbox.
for #3 you can't turn the light bar off but you can dim it to save more battery
sony must appreciate your video. very simple pointing out but very important investigation for improvement of ps4.
You can dim the led for the ps camera from the settings!
I have rechargeable batteries in and I have not charged them for over two weeks as yet.
on my ps3 i play straight for 10 hours before charge the controller

Nobody pushes the L1 button on the side
exactly
ikr
Thank you.
That is OK. Thank you for contacting Sony about this. I am curious how Sony responds to your email.
Admiral Adi I'll be sure to forward an email of there response as soon as it becomes available.
The first two problems i had and agree are disappointing but both have easy work-arounds as you have shown. The last two points i never really noticed.
Dualshock 4 Problems:
1. Everything
How to fix it:
1. Trash it
Ps4 + Xbox controllers= the perfect console
Ben doug Tru dat
what about the dead zones in the xone controllers analog sticks, what about the terrible bumpers, what about the fact that the only console seller (halo) is a dying series
Wow dude you are really hard on controllers! I thought I played a lot but to wear down a ds4 n 3 weeks... You deserve a trophy 🏆
Lol if it's not a platinum trophy he will make a rant video about it.
Is no one going to talk about how stupidly sensitive the L2 and R2 triggers are.
The thing With the light being constantly on îs the problem for short battery life, Hope they în the next update they Will fix this, and Yeah you r wright. We don't need that light,at least we have the option to dime it,the ps4 it has alot of room for improvements,Hope they Will listen to us, great video, spot on With all the issueses.
hmm, you actually brought up a few good points.
I will agree, the battery life is horrible, but you gotta consider, the light bar and headset puts a good strain on the battery.
Hey man thanks for this video
My square button stopped working
I disassembled the controller and cleaned it
And it's not working
Any advice?
yes its new design is called Xbox one controller which is rid of all the problem you mentioned
100% agree with you especially about the R1 and L1 been angled..
although the DS4 is much improvment than DS3.
Those grips are awsome i have some of those and there are nice
OK NOW I Can't press the buttons with those stupid customization.
I just recently got a PS4, but hearing about the thumbsticks losing their rubber coating so quickly, I instantly bought some controller caps. Mine were € 6 for 4 pairs, Speedlink Stix. Can't go wrong with that.
Great video, thanks for arming me about these problems
This is huge! over 7 million controllers that are garbage. its not like they didn't have enough time to test. this is why I'm getting Xbox! This has never been a problem with any Sony products! Xbox tested their controllers vigorously. Sony had to know this was a problem.
The Battery Low mean Call You To Stop Playing Bro
And Charge Him
He Ned a Rest
Just a tip: get thumb grids. they are mainly 7 dollars everywhere and you save the wearing down of the analog sticks.
can u give me a link where to buy those?
Yes of course, I personally got this ones.www.gamestop.com/accessories/geltabz-performance-thumb-gripz/112741
thank u
very nice video Adi, you addressed all my problems about DS4 controller in your video, thx. let's hope SONY will fix those issues before March -__-
all is great about this controller except for:
1. Battery Life is much shorter compared to DS3 lasts about 6-8 hours
2. the thumbsticks wore off overtime when playing shooters.
Fortunately there for me, I got an extra controller, a charging station and thumb grips to fix these problems
what's up man, what kind of camera are you using?
Where do you buy the rubber thing for your analog stick? Mine is really starting to wear down and that seems like a great idea. All i play is FIFA and I wish I had time to play for 6 hours. haha, I bought my PS4 when it came out, I wish I would of complained about the remote long time ago to game stop but I thought controls were not under warranty.
Is it just me, or do u guys controllers ever control itself because of the wireless is crap
yup
Agree
hey, thanks for the video... tonight i noticed that my two controllers won't charge unless i put the control upside down... it sounds crazy but true. also where did you get the plastic caps? thanks
OMG SAME! I was taking cafe of the controller and it stopped charging randomly. I thought my charger was broken (Maybe is) but putting it on a different angle helps it charge

Thanks a lot
Sony needs to fix there shit ASFP !!!
You have to respect the controller dude. As if it was your girlfriend.
Exactly my thoughts.
Once again, the light is not just for the damn camera. Its a power indication/player indicator. And the LED draws very little power.
True, how do you dim the light though? I got a plasma TV and the light shines back to me, which is distracting me a whole bunch :)
You go to settings> devices> controllers> brightness of dualshock lightbar.
Tyler Parker Nice mate! :D Thank you :)
They've never actually admitted it otherwise we would all have new controllers.
thats no problem all you need to do is dont play cod of fifa or eny rage games that rek your controller
My controller light is flashin but wont turn on help fast please
After little usage? um i have my PS4 for over a year and it is still like it has been since day one. Maybe it's from you pushing down too much. I would put it down to user abuse not ps4 control problem. The fact this video was published about 4-5 months after the ps4 came out shows you really must have treated it like shit
+Patrick Tuohy I have treated it with great care, trust me. I do not push the sticks from the side. I was just showing how the rubber is wearing out. The rubber started falling apart within days of usage.
I had my PS3 controller for 7 years and this has never happened to those before.
Ive had my ps4 control for a year and a half and the control is like new
It depends on the games you play that makes it tear like i Play NBA 2K15 but it feels like new
regardless of your experience I can say that there are a lot of problems with the controllers. I've had 2 break in 18 months. I had my PS3 for years and never needed a new controller
+Patrick Tuohy
The PS4 controller is horrible for FPS games. The R2 button is cheap & easily breaks from normal use.
am i the only one having the issue where the controller turns on its own when your running around and not at all using the R3 stick
No, you are not the only one. i have the same issue as well. it's usually the camera or my character moving, only after pushing down L2 or R2. ive used those buttons so much, all 3 of my controllers have that issue. a lot of FFXIV and DCUO tens to use those buttons a lot (me, in my case) only way is to replace the buttons or spend another $60 :/ but i went on to pc so i dont wear out my buttons like i usually do.
proud to say this they fixed this in newer controllers
Nice video man helped alot!
thanks
Yeah man I stopped using my controller and it went back to a hard plastic
yeah, stop using the control, that's a great way to fix a problem that shouldn't have occurred in the first place, for the players, who can't game, because the control needs to be rested pmsl
well, the reason for the 1 buttons is that, there are people with different hand sizes, they cant go by your hand, and the light and the battery are both one reason in a way, so three reasons in all not four
my ps4 dualshock 4 problems:ruber on the analog sticks becomes slippery when used a short period of time,L2 trigger moves felt and right easily, makes like scratching noises, moving the analog sticks makes a grinding noise, everything else seems fine
Great vid, I agree with everything you said. The controller the is best one i've ever had with the exception of the problems you listed. Let us disable the shitty, gimmick light, and let us use AA's instead of a shitty 1000mah battery.
i think u made sum great points i had a problem wit the anolog geting stuk onnthe side wen pushed left or rite had that problem wit the ps3
Please reply to this post;
i have been using my ps4 controller for over 6 months now and recently i have started facing seriously annoying problems with it and i just wanted to know if its happening with other people as well.
A. Being torn because you play way to much fifa
B. You most likely threw your controller at a wall for missing a goal
B is more like me kkkkkkkkkkk
Nah, that happened to me too after 1 month of using the PS4 controller. The solution, which is going to sound like blasphemy, is to buy a set of Xbox One analog stick replacement parts. It's easy to replace them, and the Xbox One's analog stick material is more durable.
they fixed it, the rubber on the sticks are way more tougher i just bought a controller recently
nice man...hope Sony fix these problems..did u report it to Sony ?
I got my ps4 on launch day and the thumb sticks have not worn down at all for me. And yes I do play ps4 quite often
I don't know what you people are doing to your controllers but I had mine since launch and it's doing good still. The only problem i have is the battery life.
You can set the light to dim like i did but it didnt make it different which sucks :(
maybe they shud make the l1 r1 bottons like the r2l2 except for sideways facing in that a solve the problem wit the side problem
i for one like the ps4 light it helps in games to see health like in the last of us remastered and COD or battlefield 4
I have those same exact grips, and the sides of them hit the analog stick guard plastic, so it makes it hard to move them when they are against the edge. Did you have that problem?
Hopefully they'll make a newer model. They made a lot with ps1.
u got a defective controller. i had mine for 3 and half months and have no issues with it and the battery last longer then 6 hours, iv played over 15 hours before plugging in the charger
This is a warranty thing!!! Have Sony updated the controller yet?
How does one buy a $400 system, and not buy analog stick protector caps for the controller?
that attention to detail THO!
I gone through so many controller already, probably due to rage, but im surprised w/ how many ive gone through.
This problems happened to me back in the day with the first dual shock.
Take care of your shit then I've had my PS4 controller for a month and it is awesomely prefer condition
+Tomas Chazarreta idiot, he ment the PS1 controller
+Tomas Chazarreta the first dual shock wasn't called dual shock 4, amazingly. Cheers, mate.
+Tomas Chazarreta bitch boy that's because you have the newer version. Sony released a version that fixed this issue. you just so happen to have that one. maybe just throw it away and find a way to use the xbox one controller 🤐
The joystick are a problem but the the L1 and R2 are not the problem it just the way you press the botton
try using a control freak to not wear out the bottons
I wish someone could help me with the R2 button issue, could I remove it like you did with the L1?
you can disable the controller
Hi my friend, i did follow every step as shown in your video, but my dual shock just does not turn on, the pad heats so fast, but doesnt turn on :( any suggestions?
Depending on what game you play any of the back buttons will go depending which button bashing u use most both R2 buttons have sticked on both my controller playing Bf4 only had it 3 months Sony needs to sort it. Reason y battery life is low is because they want u to have 2 controllers which I got mugged into buying its all about money money money
L1 and r1 stick. Anolog rips sometimes
have the same problem with my controller the plastic worn out after use, especially with fifa2014 , only solution as u did to get plastic covers or else u will have to buy a new controller after months of use
I am afraid you are right. My L1 button is getting worse and worse. Cleaning it is less and less effective.
Try contacting the place you bought it from, this should still be covered by warranty.
You say that you cant turn o the light bar, but you can dim it if you want to save battery life
True. That feature wasn't available when I made this video. That software patch that gave you the option came way after. But still, dimming the light doesn't fix the issue completely. It just makes the light less intrusive. There is still absolutely no advantage or practicality of the LED light being on. At least not for me.
