Thank you for the review! With the slider and the pan/tilt motor, when when setting waypoints in the app with different camera positions, does the slider move through those positions smoothly, or does the slider get to the position and then abruptly change angles to the next position? For example, I want to be able to “orbit” from left to right around a subject smoothly.
Yes it slows down at the way points, but doesn't drastically change direction when it gets to the way point. You can orbit around a subject perfectly smooth using just two way points with one at each side of the subject sort of thing. For example if the camera is all the way on the left of the slider you can aim the camera towards the subject with the various pan's then set Point A. The move the camera to the other side and aim it how you want then set the B waypoint. The slider will then go from A to B perfect smooth only slowing down at the waypoints. U can also have it go back and fourth in a loop, and it only slows down at the way points. I try to limit my movements to only two way points for most work.
Superb overview, thanks for all the hard work you've put into making this excellent review. It's amazing value hey, and the speed of being able to switch from manual to powered is awesome. Other than weight/bulk, the only potential downside for me for interview set ups is motor noise, but I think with a longer lens that should be manageable.
Thanks you! The small battery lasts about 2 hours I would say, but now I use the much larger batteries geni.us/qTxhqd2 most of the time when out and about, or I used the PD Power source geni.us/Y9ByFn on the main motor when in the studio.
Thanks for the review! I am thinking whether to buy E500 or E700. The difference is 90 mm in the slide, but 180 mm in the construction... Will you really use the entire slide length? I already have one 100 cm slider and I want one more for traveling. Thanks for the response.
I don't really see the need for longer than what I have for most purposes, but if filming larger items and doing really long time-lapse stuff It could make sense to go longer...
Have you noticed any stability problems or shaky footage when it gets to the end of the track with the stabilizer arms? I’m considering buying this tripod in the next week or so and searching for an answer to this.
I have not, but if you look thru the comments you can see others complaining about that and the horizon going slightly off level due to some sag. I think this is highly dependent on the payload amount though, because I did not notice much...
Just saw the comment@@Jason_Hermann Now it's making me consider the AXIS series over the Micro3 series. The only problem with the AXIS series is that it's not very travel-friendly so that could be a problem for people who intend to take it with them on an airline and do timelapses in a location other than home or by car.
Great slider and motors but I get regular freezing of the app requiring phone restart especially in time lapse mode. Anyone else get this problem? Find a fix?
Depending on how close the mic is, yes you can hear the motor in the video. When It's going slow it is much less noisy than when going fast as well. When using this slider a lav mic or another off camera mic would be a better option than on top of the camera.
Hi MJ, Yeah it makes some noise for sure, so unless your mics are a decent distance and direction you will prolly hear it. The faster it goes the louder it is, so at super slow speed it is noticeable less loud...
Very little I would say Derek. I used it for my last video and I did not notice any issues, but my unit is very lightly used only by me, so it's pretty much brand new still...
What do you think about the way that speeds affect the scene between the way points. I mean, the differents speeds between the tilt and the pan for example when you work with ponz pt. Sometime the the tilt is moving faster than de pan so we lose the subject. Good video, thanks.
Great question and I was wondering about this also when testing. As long as you have two way points set and the subject is not moving, the lens did stay on the subject the entire time it was panning, but the distance to subject changes of course... I did not try and mess with the individual speeds when using the pons PT, just the main overall speed slider.
Hello, Zeapon claims on the website the Pons PT can handle 50kg horizontal load... it doesn't give much more detail than that: www.zeapon.com/products-detail/i-47.html
Thanks great video. I bought Zeapon Micro 3 E700 and Zeapon PONS PT Motorized Pan Head 2-axis Gimbal Stabilizer . It works good if I use only slider or PONS PT, if using both, I always pop up that "PONS Head must be upgraded tot the latest version to ensure that your device can function properly" I upgraded latest firmward for both Slider and PONS PT using Zeapon Lab app, but still popup windows is there always, I could not ignore this popup and the use the app. Can you please provide your suggestion
@@Jason_Hermann Thank you so much. I installed the app in 2 different iphones with latest version same issue. Also I did sent email to zeapon tech support, it seems they responded from china and asked me where I bought, I replied but I did not get any response and also I sent Zeapon facebook group request, not yet accepted. Thanks for the response
Thank you Pete and the slider motor does make noise that you can hear. Its high pitched and gets louder the faster the slider is going. At any speed the motor can be heard in the camera footage. The Pan/tilt motors are harder to hear, but yes they make noise also. I hope that helps, Jay
My wife just bought the zeapon micro plus 2 slider a week ago for my birthday. And i am truly impressed with how powerful the motor is. You can do angled poles all the way to vertical pole and the slider. Don’t skip a beat. Now I seen reviews with people having issues with the app. But I have used it with my iPad Pro and my Samsung S 22 ultra phone and they both work fine. Actually the Samsung connects to it much quicker. I have found out my 2 tripods are not strong enough that it shakes from the quick release ball head or it wobbles once you go so far to one side and you see it in the video. So i bought my first video tripod i and since it was just Christmas, I was not spending much money on a video tripod and picked up Neewer 74 inch tripod with a fluid head, and holy cow thing is rocksolid and holds the camera slider and my Sony, a7iv fully rigged out with the Atomos ninja V and you can go any angle and go completely side to side and the tripod doesn’t budge or shake. But I wanted to start out with just a slider and learn how to use it and maybe this summer I will buy the pan and tilt head. Right now I’m getting some pretty nice shots mounting a fluid head to the top of the slider and then mounting my camera and manually turning it with the motorized slider back-and-forth. Also, I picked up a cheap shutter release cable off of Amazon and disconnected the little remote button and just use the cable with the 2.5 mm headphone jack into the camera slider and the micro USB into the shutter release slot on there camera and know the time lapse feature in the app is usable. I have not used it yet because it’s been nothing but snowing here. I know I don’t have the same model as yours but they’re pretty similar but I have been really impressed with the craftsmanship and what the sliders can do with a nice size heavy load on them. Thanks for the great video. Love the channel. Hope to see more videos with some of the shots you take with your new slider.
Hello Jason, very nice review I am a fan of your work and now a subscriber. One question. Why is it that no one is reporting that this slider does not have 30" of travel distance as advertised. The travel distance is only 24" from left to right. The slider is a very nice slider just not 30" of travel distance.
Honestly, I never measured the travel distance and just assumed it was correct. I just measured it and it appears to be about 26" if you measure from the camera mount point full extension left and right, but the slider extension itself measures 30" total travel. In other words you need 30" of space to use the slider at full extension, so I am guessing that is why they chose that number. Sneaky.... I hear ya Morris, that travel distance should be what it is I agree.
How about ease in and ease out graph controls Zeapon USED TO HAVE in the previous interface? They just killed it on an unsolicited "update", and totally ignored my requests of reinstalling it back to the previous version. Zeapon´s customer care is disgusting.
Yeah, no idea and I agree not the best support over the years based on the comments in this and other Zeapon reviews I have done. The sliders are still really awesome though in my opinion, but I do wish the app had way more control like you are talking about. I have the Axis slider now and it is really impressive, but still does not have the ease in and out feature which limits using more than to waypoints for a single clip. I know look at it as separate video clips if I use more than two waypoints.
Hi Jason, you did not mention that the slider stops in between each waypoint if there is more then 2 waypoints selected. It really bothers me. Is there any solution to this problem yet?
That is just how this unit works, so I only use 2 way points for the most part, or plan out he footage so I can cut in a B-roll angle when the waypoint delay happens. I don't know of any fix, but a firmware update is a possibility...
Yes I think this is the perfect length for me. I also have the older micro 2 which is much smaller and I find that limiting at times. This one can mount on my current fairly beefy tripod with no issue, but the E1000 I feel like would be pushing it on my current tripod and would really need a heavier duty one. I appreciate the comments and best of luck, Jay
Hello Jason, thanks for your great in-depth explanation! We recently bought the micro3 e1000 slider and got reallty disappointed by the performance. The slider bends while the camera travels from end so we end uo having a tilting horizon in the shots. that's not something we expected, expecially because the maximum payload should be 12kg and our camera+accessories was just 4-5kg! Did you ever notice such problem? I've seen cheeper sliders not having this kind of issues. We contacted Zeapon support but still no answer...
I did not notice this with my smaller payloads, and that sucks! I guess you can go for shorter distances, lower the weight, or fix in post is all I can really offer as a solution....

Well, no I did not experience this with mine, but you are pushing it way harder than I did by using a 100mm macro lens! That requires a level of precision that I honestly don't know if this is capable of to be honest. Were you also using it in a macro scenario? You must understand that when shooting telephoto or macro, the vibrations will be exaggerated compared to a wider angle lens, also you are shooting both telephoto and I think macro which makes it that much harder. This beast is extremely smooth, but like I said, I don't know if it is able to work at that level of accuracy. I would suggest reaching out to the manufacture if it persists to get a answer to your situation. I really don't know if this is designed for that level of accuracy. All the best, Jay
