- Teardown, review and passive component testing with the ISO-Tech LCR-1701 LCR Meter (similar to the LCR-1703). The meter is OEM from Appa (The Appa 701 and Appa 703). It is also distributed as the GW Instek 915 and 916 LCR meter.

I think is is also rebranded under a company called CML with models CMT-417 CMT-437 . A Germany company i think.
very good job man
Excellent review thanks. Just bought Tenma 10465 with same chip set. Yours seems to have a better implementation however. Nicer screen for instance.
really good...
nice one!
Thanks for the useful review. One question. I want to measure a 5H inductor to within 2.5% and will be driving it at 20hz in my LC circuit. As the meter only goes down to 100hz, do you think it will measure a significantly different inductance compared to 20hz ?
Hi pete - apologies for the delay in answering. The inductance of an inductor should not change too much with frequency. Having said that - some inductors have core material that retains magnetism and will influence the inductance behaviour. It all depends on the specific inductor.
I just measured a 1mH inductor without any core material at 100Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz and the inductance stayed within 2% of the value at 100Hz.
pete_dl for to have the same inductor value with any frequency, you need to use a " on air" inductor. In fact it really depend of the magnetic properties of the core in the inductor. Each type of core have a special behavior with the frequency changement. This LCR can be used to control the linear value with rise of frequency.
Why you don't make rezrdown for fluk
05:48 - When you tapped the screw with your probe, it was loose!
Is this take 2 of the video, or did it arrive like that? I am a retired electronics engineer, so if there are no fracture-seals, I take everything apart and check screws for tightness. At 05:31, 07:18, etc, I can see solder fragments large enough to come loose and short between processor pins. The accuracy is great and intuitive interface makes it look well worth buying.
I'll start saving!
Very well spotted! While this was not the second take, I had it open before so I could script my words for the "reveal". I'll have to do a better job next time. :-)
Eu gostei deste Iso-tech LCR - 1701 LCR Meter.
Eu pesquisei no site, e ele aparece como descontinuado. É uma pena pois eu queria comprar o ISO-Tech LCR - 1701 LCR Meter mas não vou comprar.
It's also sold as Voltcraft LCR-400:

i want to have it. because i need to build a professional passive crossover for 3 way speakers.
mr jn a 10 dollars component tester is perfectly enough to do that. This LCR cost very expensive.
thanks for the video.
Always a pleasure.
TechBench i have a 1 KHz version of this LCR meter and managed ro read the contents of it ROM flash. wondered you can do the same and send me flash dump, so i can have a deeper inspection and compare them and hopefully hack my own to 10 KHz or may be 100 KHz version.
Hm, did you dump it in-circuit or did you remove it? Shall we perhaps start a thread on the EEVBlog forum, then we can carry on there?
in order to read the flash contents, i had to desolder it from the PCB and using TL866 , i dud the dump rather straight forward and simple process. i'll create a new thread and keep you posted. what is your forum ID?
Good day - good plan. Find me as 'deckert'
Why same transformer inductance is changed according to applied frequency .it gives value 8.7H at 100 Hz. And 1286 mili henary at 10 khz frequency in same transformer coil.... Because inductance shuld be fix value
Only in an "ideal" conductor. The transformer has other factors (intertwined capacitance) and a non-perfect laminated metal core as well as a secondary unterminated core.
where is the fuse place?
Hi Mr jn, this device does not need any fuses, since there are no lethal voltages or high currents being measured.
@@TechBench oh.. so which means it can only use for dc voltage section and at the same time to measure those henry of inductance?
@@TechBench sir. i want to have it. someday. I'm planning to build 3 way passive crossover for my professional speakers such as compression driver unit, mid range speakers and at the same time mid bass woofer speaker for low frequencies.
@@mrjn6940 Important to understand that this is _not_ a multimeter. It is an LCR meter - so only inductance, capacitance and resistance. It will not measure any voltages or current.
@@TechBench ok I understand. that's a big thing for my future project such as crossover and speaker rewinding.
The price in$ please
Thanks
