    Dale's spinal column was severed at the neck due to the impact into the wall. What are you fools talking about that it did not look bad. Prior to the race numerous drivers, officials, journalists and others were talking safety but Earnhardt chose not to use the HANS (head and neck support) had Dale been wearing the HANS most likely he would have servived that fatal accident. The device was originally co-developed by sports car racer and Jim Downing

    • @yojoeski
      @yojoeski 2 года назад +5

      @@_aragornyesyes_7171 Think about it though. Of the accidents he had over the years, the ones that injured him the most are the ones that didn't look that bad. Look at his accidents in 1999 at Atlanta, 1998 at Charlotte, and 1995 at MIS, those accidents hurt him far more seriously than his Talladega wreck in 1996 (or 1998) as well as his Pocono crash in 1982. None of the 3 former wrecks I mentioned looked remotely as bad as the latter ones I mentioned, but they all involved sudden stops as did his fatal wreck in 2001 whereas in the latter wrecks, while violent and terrible looking, the car kept moving and scrubbed off some of its energy and forward momentum. The wreck in 1995 at MIS actually broke Dale's neck (this was not known until Dale Jr. revealed it years after his death) and as I've understood it, the car in the wreck was so utterly destroyed that nothing was able to be salvaged from it. Again, the wreck doesn't look that bad, but it's a sudden deceleration at extreme speeds.

    • @easyenetwork2023
      @easyenetwork2023 2 года назад +1

      @@yojoeski You forget he broke his sternum and some ribs at Talladega and it likely weakened his neck too. It took him until 1997 just to heal fully from that crash. He was hurt from 1997-1999. After he had surgery in the 1999 offseason, that allowed him to be himself again in 2000. But a lot of damage has been done, which did not help in the fatal crash. The HANS would have probably saved his life as you said.

    • @yojoeski
      @yojoeski 2 года назад +1

      The HANS device would likely not have saved him because the hit was so hard that his seat came loose from the brackets which bolted it to the chassis. This has been shown to be due to improper installation of the seat itself and some of this is on Dale himself because he wanted it installed a certain way. Also his lap belt snapped in half as well. He died from the impact of his head against the steering wheel of the car and with the seat moving forward along with the belts breaking under the stress, the HANS would've been useless at that point since it is attached to the seat itself.

      The sudden deceleration is what kills you, not the violent barrel rolls or spinning rapidly after hitting the wall. Going from 140-150 mph down to almost 0 mph that quick is unloading all the force onto the driver’s head and neck. With the HANS and SAFER Barrier, I think the belt might not have snapped or the belt snapping might have been survivable because the HANS would have kept his head from coming that far forward.

    It should have been Rusty Wallace in 3rd instead of Marlin and Rusty was the beneficiary of Dale's wreck he avoided the carnage and finished third when all hell broke loose as he put it. I thought when seeing the race live, I thought Rusty was the car that crashed but then I saw Rusty going across the line and Dale was in the crash with Kenny Schrader.

    This is NOT accurate AT ALL. In turn 4 of the last lap Marlin wasn't directly behind Earnhardt as this depicted. That was Rusty Wallace's position. Marlin was on the low side of the track just off of Dale's left rear fender. Ken Schrader was in the same position opposite of Schrader on Dale's high side. To this day idk if Rusty got Dale a little loose causing him to move low into Schrader or did Dale take himself down low to block Schrader as he had been doing to him and other drivers during the race protecting his teammate's lead ahead of him. I would like to think him moving low at that point of the race was inadvertent as both Waltrip and Jr had widened the lead gap and had the race well in hand. Nobody was gonna catch Waltrip at that point except Jr and a block by Dale on the other drivers was unnecessary!!

      He got in Sterling, went on the apron, and straight back up the track into Schrader’s path. I wished he had just spun the car out and not tried to save it.

    There are a lot of accuracy issues with this reenactment. Just to name a few, Earnhardt and Schrader slid off the track and apron together but this video shows Earnhardt spinning into the infield seconds before Schrader. Also, this shows Marlin going on to finish 3rd right behind Waltrip and Jr which is not accurate.

    Reenactment is very close however the number 2 car Rusty Wallace what's besides Sterling Marlin Sterling Marlin did not hit Dale Earnhardt has Dale Earnhardt enter the corner he was coming down lower and the number to car that did not touch him actually took the wind off Dale Earnhardt's spoiler and got him loose
