So sad. Knowing he last saw his son in front of him. Knowing that the equipment he refused to wear most likely would have saved his life.. so so sad..
Rest in peace.
There was an article that came out that said the safety equipment of that time still wouldn’t have been able to save him
I just have to say turn to the LORD and have all amen hallelujah praise GOD
Had he survived, he would the first to tell you he should have taken safety more serious.
@@carsonfarist8590 The lord that sent 2 bears to kill 42 children? That lord? The lord that killed a man's family to win a bet?
@@strat458796yes it was something to do with the car his death saved lots of drivers im a dale Earnhardt i guess u could say geek 🤓 lol but you are right my freind but he said he could see the wind with his open face helmet idk if you know this but on like amazon prime TV and RUclips TV there's a thing we're Micheal Waltrip (im not sure if the last name is correct i have watched it in a minute) but it gives some info and thank anybidy who read this for their time
I was working and watching the race and remember seeing the accident never once thinking he's been injured that bad. Was mortified when they announced he had passed on.RIP.
@JPT my brother was there but majority of the people wasn't concerned because it looked like a minor crash they only found out something was terrible when dale was still in the car for 27 mins after the crash. u say he doesn't know anything about racing if u where there u can't say its because if it happened u would know what happened but if u know what happened because they already announced it ur gonna be like "why u didnt know u dont know anything about racing" that's because he was there in present so it was real time but u already knew what happened because it was announced when u saw it.
@@Antwan_R yea it wasn't looking that bad but it is probably because he wasn't wearing Hans :/
@@Antwan_R Those kind of wrecks don’t look bad because they look like less severe damage to the car. But the head-on sudden stop is more force on the driver’s body. If he had flipped and spun more that would dissipate energy away from his body.
@@easyenetwork2023 yeah thats why we start to look at more severe crashes instead of barrel rolls and stuff I look more to the crashes that just goes right in like instant hits everywhere like denny's crash in Auto club California and noah gragson's dega crash
@JPT Hind sight is 20/20. Don't act like you knew it was serious. I've seen horrible wrecks where I thought no way they survive and they walk away. That looked harmless at the time.
That feeling of confusion in Darrel's face when it happened. Such a sad day.
Got this recommended 20 years after it happened. Great reenactment. Boy us nascar fans surely miss dale.
i agre
@@Brendan_57 yep
@Don Vu i get what you mean but i dont think there will ever be a good reenactment of a fatal crash
Nascar fans comment says translate to english🤣
But the reenactment is completely wrong..he didn't spin like that at all
Dale's spinal column was severed at the neck due to the impact into the wall. What are you fools talking about that it did not look bad. Prior to the race numerous drivers, officials, journalists and others were talking safety but Earnhardt chose not to use the HANS (head and neck support) had Dale been wearing the HANS most likely he would have servived that fatal accident. The device was originally co-developed by sports car racer and Jim Downing
Tbf this wreck looks like he could’ve survived it considering that he’s been in worse
@@_aragornyesyes_7171 Think about it though. Of the accidents he had over the years, the ones that injured him the most are the ones that didn't look that bad. Look at his accidents in 1999 at Atlanta, 1998 at Charlotte, and 1995 at MIS, those accidents hurt him far more seriously than his Talladega wreck in 1996 (or 1998) as well as his Pocono crash in 1982. None of the 3 former wrecks I mentioned looked remotely as bad as the latter ones I mentioned, but they all involved sudden stops as did his fatal wreck in 2001 whereas in the latter wrecks, while violent and terrible looking, the car kept moving and scrubbed off some of its energy and forward momentum. The wreck in 1995 at MIS actually broke Dale's neck (this was not known until Dale Jr. revealed it years after his death) and as I've understood it, the car in the wreck was so utterly destroyed that nothing was able to be salvaged from it. Again, the wreck doesn't look that bad, but it's a sudden deceleration at extreme speeds.
@@yojoeski You forget he broke his sternum and some ribs at Talladega and it likely weakened his neck too. It took him until 1997 just to heal fully from that crash. He was hurt from 1997-1999. After he had surgery in the 1999 offseason, that allowed him to be himself again in 2000. But a lot of damage has been done, which did not help in the fatal crash. The HANS would have probably saved his life as you said.
@@_aragornyesyes_7171 it’s because of the angle that he hit. I remember being 10 years old watching this race live. And dw said those are the kind of wrecks that hurt you.
The HANS device should’ve been mandatory for all drivers to wear.. not pick and choose if they wanted to wear it.
R.I.P. Dale Earnhardt Sr. 4/29/1951 - 2/18/2001
Cause of death: Basilar skull fracture sustained in racing accident
wow i never knew this but i have e same birthday as dale, honored to have been born on the late legends bday
if he had worn the HANS device that he was protesting he could of survived. :(
@@SlaughterSlayer actually, the HANS device requirement was put in place because of Blaise Alexander's crash in ARCA in 2000. Earnhardt's seat belt snapped, which sent him head-first into the steering wheel. That's what killed him.
@@CoasterMan13Official Wait really?? I've always been told it was lack of a HANS device! Do you have any source so I can read some more about this?

how can you say this as a kyle busch fan
Dale Earnhardt sr was an amazing racer. I'm 13 so I didnt see his races but I heard about them he was such a nice man
He definitely wasn't "such a nice man". He was passionate about his job, that much no one can take away from him.
he wasnt really a good dad either, cared more about racing than his kids
junior actually got into nascar just to be closer to his dad
@@IAmTheMonarchy I think he was a good dad, but he did not know how to be a good father for a long time.

20 years ago today.
I watched this race, saw the accident and did not think it looked life threatening considering the horrific crashes I witnessed. I was happy for Mikey and Die as a whole. Turned off tv and went out to garage work on my 1968 ford bronco, after about a hour I popped a beer and turn radio on, in about 5 minutes the music stopped, this is breaking news it was just announced the Dale Earnhardt was killed in the Daytona 500. I was shocked! Not only because he was my favorite driver but that crash did not seem bad. I understand he did not wear hand device , sure wish he would have, be alive today for sure! Crazy!
Well u were right the first time crash wasnt fatal they lied to us u do know the illuminati is out there right?
Yeah it didn’t look bad at all, I think it was because of the open face helmet
Well Dale Earnhardt died because of a big hit causing his neck to be snapped so he cannot look left and right And a skull fracture causing the skull to be like in a horrific crash of Ryan Newman but Ryan did not have skull fracture he got minor injuries but Dale did not survive because it was causing the skull to break because the gravity was high it might 49 or 53G Maybe of a big crash there is no way he can survive he only have 4% chance of surviving but he didn't make it
The HANS device would likely not have saved him because the hit was so hard that his seat came loose from the brackets which bolted it to the chassis. This has been shown to be due to improper installation of the seat itself and some of this is on Dale himself because he wanted it installed a certain way. Also his lap belt snapped in half as well. He died from the impact of his head against the steering wheel of the car and with the seat moving forward along with the belts breaking under the stress, the HANS would've been useless at that point since it is attached to the seat itself.
@@gladiatorindonesia5222 Plus his lap belt broke which caused a fatal blunt force facial hit to the chin. HANS and SAFER Barrier would have been maybe what saved his life.
Really didn’t look like a fatal crash. Crazy to see guys roll 10 times & walk away
Don’t let one bad moment ruin a good moment
After Dale's wreck in '96 that he walked away from we were sure Dale was gonna be fine nobody thought this would happen

He was so good he was hated. There just was no social media to amplify that. Noone has gotten to his level. Sure JJ but I was lucky to be young enough for both and I can assure you Dale was bigger. The one race I went to was Dover in like 1994 and I was just hoping itd be anyone but him. My dad was a big Kulwicki fan so it was cool seeing Jimmy Hensley run the 7 that race but guess what?

With less than 20 days to go for 2022 Daytona I will be sitting at turn #4 that Man is so missed by millions.
Nice reenactment. Remember how Dale's car spun around several times? That was crazy.
It feels like he died yesterday R.I.P the Intimidator 1951 - 2001
Not a bad recreation. But it is still sad what actually happened that day.
I worked for Ford, and was at the race. Being a dale Earnhardt fan, I was listening to his pit crew and when he hit the wall he kept on asking Dale, talk to me, talk to me are you OK are you OK and of course no response
''I hope Dale is ok.''
Hes dead
Still so sad!
What a marvelous tribute
Wasn’t Alive when dale died I was born a year later but man watching my grandpa like him as a favorite driver made me like dale
And I just realized this was beamng lmao
Never knew he was so loose at 0:19

Such a horrible day for everyone involved:
Michael: First win EVER at the biggest race overshadowed by the death of (arguably) NASCAR's greatest driver.
Junior: Loses his dad.
Kenny: The first to know, scarred for life by what he saw in that car.
Sterlin: Unjustly blamed for Dale's death, had to deal with harassment and death threats from "fans".
Darrell: Also knew, couldn't happy - cry for his little bro long enough before focus shifted entirely onto Dale.
Blackest day in NASCAR history.
The commentators are so happy on a day counted as one of the saddest in nascar history
Great reenactment, but the m&ms car that dale crashed into beared the number thirty six
a legend never dies Rest in peace Dale Earnhardt (1951-2001) you will forever be remembered as the greatest Nascar Legend
This was posted on my birthday R.I.P The Intimidator
Oh that sad
If you can recreate Dale Earnhardt SR. Then you can recreate Ayrton Senna's crash.
He hit the wall so hard so fast man that’s crazy
The sudden deceleration is what kills you, not the violent barrel rolls or spinning rapidly after hitting the wall. Going from 140-150 mph down to almost 0 mph that quick is unloading all the force onto the driver’s head and neck. With the HANS and SAFER Barrier, I think the belt might not have snapped or the belt snapping might have been survivable because the HANS would have kept his head from coming that far forward.
I think you could've done better job with the crash but other than that everything else was pretty good
R.I.P Dale Earnhardt, the 7 time champion, Daytona 500 champion.
Rest in peace to my favorite driver ever Dale Earnhardt senior
Dale Earnhardt should've made a pit stop when they got down to 2 laps to go on the Daytona 500 back in 2001. He'd probably finish in 25th place. He would've retired in 2004 from NASCAR. He was 71 days away from his 50th birthday.
Or Half A Century
I never did like Dale Sr but I missed him after that because I didn't have a "bad guy" to root against! NASCAR was never the same after that day ❗😓😥😢
the announcers celebrated for micheal waltrip. Yet once they figured out the death, it made them lose all their happiness.

And to illustrate the forces involved, they wrecked I believe midway in turns 3-4, but ended up in the tri-oval probably nearly a half mile from where the crash first started.
Edit: maybe more like 1/4 mile as he needed up in the grass exiting turn 4 right before pit road entrance.

The biggest change in NASCAR happened because of his death. Use of the HANS device was mandatory starting with the very next race. It probably would have saved his life.

Perfect but sad
Should of blacked flagged Dale, driving so reckless he killed a guy
All because he wouldnt wear a HANS device
They hadn't been implemented at that point
The Hans device was made mandatory after his death
Dale was knows to push back against these safety devices saying that it obstructed the drivers view and mobility
That’s not even a valid reenactment of how that happened.
It should have been Rusty Wallace in 3rd instead of Marlin and Rusty was the beneficiary of Dale's wreck he avoided the carnage and finished third when all hell broke loose as he put it. I thought when seeing the race live, I thought Rusty was the car that crashed but then I saw Rusty going across the line and Dale was in the crash with Kenny Schrader.

Well rusty wallace did get revenge on dale
This is NOT accurate AT ALL. In turn 4 of the last lap Marlin wasn't directly behind Earnhardt as this depicted. That was Rusty Wallace's position. Marlin was on the low side of the track just off of Dale's left rear fender. Ken Schrader was in the same position opposite of Schrader on Dale's high side. To this day idk if Rusty got Dale a little loose causing him to move low into Schrader or did Dale take himself down low to block Schrader as he had been doing to him and other drivers during the race protecting his teammate's lead ahead of him. I would like to think him moving low at that point of the race was inadvertent as both Waltrip and Jr had widened the lead gap and had the race well in hand. Nobody was gonna catch Waltrip at that point except Jr and a block by Dale on the other drivers was unnecessary!!
He got in Sterling, went on the apron, and straight back up the track into Schrader’s path. I wished he had just spun the car out and not tried to save it.
YOU GOT IT 15 NICE JOB WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This reenactment is off by miles!
He came down on Sterling, tried to block him
Poor reenactment but I suppose video games need a bit of auditing to make things more intense.
Shouldn't have been blocking...cost him his life
Why the fuck would you reenact this?
That was the day I stopped watching nascar I was a fan of Dale Sr. for year's after he died I lost all interest in it.
How long did it take to make this? I play beamng and I can only imagine how long it took to get this down.
How you gonna recreate something and not have a single slow-mo clip. 😂 I feel like it’s a no-brainer
Good thing Family Guy hasn't came across this yet. They'd have Dale yell FUCK for a minute straight.
Not funny.
Grow up.
Just saying.
The day NASCAR died 😔
Wait a second is that a 25 M&M's car?
really nice job
Was not born when happening i was born 2 days after I miss him
Would I be correct to assume that trying to slowing down to keep another driver from advancing caused him to buy it?
Rip Dale Earnhardt
You got it mikeeeeeeeeey
How did rusty wallce just spun around
There are a lot of accuracy issues with this reenactment. Just to name a few, Earnhardt and Schrader slid off the track and apron together but this video shows Earnhardt spinning into the infield seconds before Schrader. Also, this shows Marlin going on to finish 3rd right behind Waltrip and Jr which is not accurate.
He tried his best
How the hell do you die from a fender bender like that? 😆
Reenactment is very close however the number 2 car Rusty Wallace what's besides Sterling Marlin Sterling Marlin did not hit Dale Earnhardt has Dale Earnhardt enter the corner he was coming down lower and the number to car that did not touch him actually took the wind off Dale Earnhardt's spoiler and got him loose
RIP Dale
What was the equipment he refused to wear
He didn’t slam the wall that hard in real life this is garbage. He practically kissed the wall
