Those vices are super cool!! I love the color choice and they are gorgeous to look at! Thanks for your efforts and see you Sunday. Have a great rest of your week.
Nice little vises, nice paint color combination, and also how you got it to look like a decal on the vise, sweet!! Thanks for sharing the restoration and painting process with us, enjoyed watching.
Thank You Terry! I had a lot of fun with these and am quite happy with how they came out! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the compliment I appreciate it.
Thanks Big Brother! I was gonna do Roll Tide Red but went with the blue and orange instead. I'm not sure about all that about the painted vises but it was fun mixing it up with these.
Hey !George vraiment une très belle restauration de ces deux étaux, la couleur bleu et orange leurs va super bien. Et deux de plus dans la collection. ❤
Nice pick for the color combination George. I like when manufacturers put USA on the products right out in plain sight. PB Blaster really works well, and the aroma drives the women wild just like gun oil.😂 Nice work and a great outcome. 👍🏻 Stay safe!
Mike,Mike,Mike! Thanks Brother and yes it is nice to see the USA right up front.. Oh Ya that drives the ladies wild so much that The wife won't let me out in public until I wash it off! I'm sure that's why! 🤣🤣. Take it Brother!
Thank You Patrick! I thought they would be a fun change of pace, or they could go play for the Mets LOL. Not too bad a week around here..Hope yours is going good. Take care brother Catch up with ya later.
Thank You Mr. John! I was gonna do these in red! But then when I looked at the lines I decided to go with these colors instead. Take care and we'll talk to you soon.
Outstanding paint job brother. A break from tradition for you mate but he two tone paint scheme really makes them pop. Are these keepers? Whoever ends up with one or both has a magnificent tool in the workshop. Take care brother. Big hugs to the family from all of us.
Hello My Brother from another Mother! Well you know just gotta mix it up sometimes and I'm not keeping these they are up for adoption now. Thank you for always being here and encouraging me it has meant so much to me. Love to you and yours! Take care. Talk to you soon.
When you said you were going to change the color, I thought, naaaah, don't do it. The blue and orange really does look better though. You did a nice job on those vises. Good video.
Thank You Kid! I was going to keep the red but I thought Nah, Let's do something Fun with these since they have the great lines for two tones. Take care brother and catch up with ya later.
I take little interest in light duty vises. I purchased a Craftsman around that it was a good tool. When I broke it about a decade later, the Craftsman replacement was even cheaper than the first one. That was when I went on a real vise mission. You are vastly more informed than me about vises. I have long been a a Wilton vise guy. I have purchased Tradesman and machinist versions, and I am perfectly satisfied with both versions. I have purchased several other industrial vises as well, and know that other makers can rival what I like with Wilton. I like the keyed round slide that so effectively eliminates jaw slop and protects the screw and nut. My son is a vise nerd that rivals your interest. I think that every shop deserves and demands a quality vise, so I have given and sold at least 12 vises to my boys. I don't know anything about Scout vises. You made them look very pretty. Who made them? They look light duty like a Littletown. I did a Littletown vise restoration for my son that wanted a light duty vise for his bedroom office/gun smithing desk/bench. I have a machine shop, so I can do the milling operations that you do by hand. I was pleased with how it turned out. I cheated and filled some cosmetic drill pecker holes with JB Weld before painting, since the pecker holes didn't affect his intended use. I recently completed my second round of introduction to machine shop with homeschool boys. Our project was to machine and assemble a woodworking vise. The vise design was my own, but I borrowed concepts from others. I made the design operations purposely simple since my students were novices, but I incorporated as many operations to involve methods, machines and tools that I thought I could. They used vertical and horizontal bandsaws, drill press, mill, lathe, surface plate, height gage, belt and disc sanders. We used a variety of inspection tools like mics, calipers, indicators, scales and squares. We did layout and dimensioning, operations, saw operattiobs, turning, drilling, tapping and threading, milling, counter boring, deburring, grooving, etc. We did a wee bit of wood shop too, since we faced the 6"x6" jaws with sacrificial hardboard jaws. This was a blast! Each boy took home their own completed vise. 17 boys completed my shop class. My second group of two brothers and their grandfather was easier to manage. My first group ranged from ages 6-17. That was fun, but it was a challenge to keep the littles focused. They also needed stools. I learned that 6 year olds are naturally face high for hot chips that normally hit my belly. I had to make adjustments to protect short people.
Hello Paul, I think every shop needs a vise that suits their needs and should get the best one they can afford.. I'm pretty sure the Scout vise were made by Wilton. Sounds like you had a wonderful class . Maybe you need to make a short people addition/section for your shop.
Nothing says you can't be creative in tool restoration. I think this is the first two tone vise restoration I've seen, and it looks great. The natural finish has its place, too. Did you do anything to straighten the slightly bent screw on the 4 inch vice? Those vises are cool attention getters.
Thanks Pat! Exactly! . I will probably always prefer a natural finish for my own collections but I also think it's fun to mix it up and everyone should do what they like. I just gave it a few taps to straighten it. They are eye catching that's for sure. take care Brother.
Dude . Those turned out amazing.. I appreciate the Syracuse Orangemen colors.. lol I caught a glimpse of those two big old vises on the floor ..are you going to restore those soon? Stay safe man
CC!!!! Thanks Brother! Ya I did that just for you! 😁. I don't know when I'll get to those..You know always more projects than time! Take it easy Buddy.
Thanks Alex, This is why I thought it was funny when you said orange vise...I'm not keeping these but my feeling won't be hurt if they stick around a little while. Take care buddy..Catch up with ya later.
Dude, the paint job is awesome, I just love them. They look so much better than just one solid color and you've given me some ideas! Hey, did you replace that same funky screw retainer ring on the 4", or did you use a normal snap ring, what was that thing?
Thanks Fred G! I thought I'd take these up a notch. Oh I'm curious now about what you're up too. I didn't replace it..I just put it back on the correct way.
Can’t think of anything that I have more trouble with than the jaw screws and the locking washer on the main shaft of vises. Managed to live with’’em but always hate it when they won’t budge. Do you think purple power is a good cleaner? Great video!
Thanks John! Ya man The struggle with them is enough to drive ya batty sometimes! The Purple Power works really good and it's not too expensive.. I usually pick it up at Dollar general.
A lot of RUclips content creators should take a lesson from you, George. Every danged video doesn’t have to be epic, astonishing. I didn’t need to see both vises being restored. I didn’t need to to you clean with wax and grease remover before paint. Good production decisions, good editing. Beautiful outcome for both items. 👍
Thanks Guy! I appreciate that! It is really hard to know what to show or not. On my vise videos I do try to show the disassemble and/or the reassemble though since some are ones I haven't worked with before and I know it helps others working on theirs too. But ya the rest of the work is pretty standard stuff. Take care buddy catch up with ya later.
Nice job, George! I liked the two-tone design. Kinda looks like the old Gulf Service station colors. 👍
Thank You Joseph! The lines on these made them perfect for going with the two tone look..They do look a lot like the old Gulf Stations.
Fantastic. Always love the blue and orange combo, stands out. Thanks again George
Thanks Brother! These vises had the perfect lines for a two tone look and i do like the way blue and orange go together.
Wow that turned out awesome I like blue and orange colors. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
Thank You! I had a lot of fun doing these. Their lines were the perfect canvas for a two tone paint finish.
Those vices are super cool!! I love the color choice and they are gorgeous to look at! Thanks for your efforts and see you Sunday. Have a great rest of your week.
Thanks Mike! i really like those colors together and if I'm gonna paint a vise I might as well go over the top. Take care see ya later!
Waoooooo! Beautiful work on those vices.👌👌
Thank You! I appreciate the compliment!
the paint job on those vices turned out great! 👍👍
Thanks! I thought they had great lines and the paint scheme would look cool on them.
Very nice they look better than today's vise's.
Thanks Brother! Yes they do. Today's vises don't have much style. Hope all is well over your way!
Nice little vises, nice paint color combination, and also how you got it to look like a decal on the vise, sweet!! Thanks for sharing the restoration and painting process with us, enjoyed watching.

Thanks Big Brother! I was gonna do Roll Tide Red but went with the blue and orange instead. I'm not sure about all that about the painted vises but it was fun mixing it up with these.

They look awesome Super George! Wow! Nicely done brother
Thank You Captain Ivan! Just mixing it up a bit. But I am happy with how the colors came together. Take care Brother!
Turned out great! Love the color combo!
