  • If the player killed Griffin, the final showdown ensues between Konoko and Muro's new self as he has accomplished to pass to the next stage of Chrysalis evolution - the Imago stage. This choice makes the game somewhat more difficult to complete, as instead of fighting a large number of weaker enemies, one must face a superboss -- periods of invunerability, massive size and damage, etc. However, if the player chose to walk away, then Muro stays in human form, he and his henchmen face Konoko, upon which Griffin comes along to help her. The overall plot remains the same, the ending included.

    Oh, l really love this moment. How it's built, how the game advises you that the "Hint : Often the best demonstration of strength is mercy . Choose carefully!", how you can let Konoko be consumed by vengeance or not. l may not have played the game to its endpoint but l have seen some moments that l really loved. The fact that, if you let Griffin live(he is the adopted father of Konoko), he will help you in the final boss and Konoko will behave quite differently in the last level(even though it is few but critical lines). While may it seem is just a binary choice, spare or kill, how it itself is built up from the story is what amazed me, how Konoko says different lines after the choice, especially the hint that you get when you choose to kill or not.
    l love this game, even though it is dark, l like it, it has a 'truthful' theme to it. Doesn't shy from showing the truth.

    I killed Griffin the first time because I figured he'd keep hunting me while I was trying to finish the job and kill Muro. I didn't know letting him live changed the final fight until my brother told me.

    I'm surprised at how responsive and smooth the gameplay here is. My experience was nothing like that; to the point anything but basic punches felt like rng for if it would work or not. Makes me worry if my PS2 is dying... or maybe it's just my controller?
    Regardless, that only makes me want a modern remake more. Oni's gameplay was good (when it worked for me), and the game's story and premise are actually pretty good despite lack luster delivery. Cyberpunk martial arts, future tech guns, corrupt government, shady crime syndicate, global environmental crisis, Konoko's personal troubles, the entire concept of the Chrysalis. The pieces are all here for a good game; with a fresh coat of paint and some more story details, it could be a great game.

      It is not the fault of your PS2 or the Game itself. The Port of the Game to the Ps2 was horrible. The PC Version was much better. The PS2 version islamost unplayable and was one of the reasons why it was not successful, unfortunately.

      I'd love for a remake or sequel, thankfully there is a spiritual successor in the works around the Oni server titled Reikoneo

    It's been like 10 years since i last played, i'm a teenager now.
    I see something very very weird with this ending now, something i didn't notice when i was a little.
    WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T WE JUST DESTROY THE ANTENNA THING ???

    • @newgameld2512
      @newgameld2512 Год назад +1

      Probably because the systems the antenna was transmitting to were already active, and Konoko had to overload the systems so that the antenna would be useless.

    • @TonyRedgrave
      @TonyRedgrave Год назад +2

      @@newgameld2512 Yep. The antenna was just an antenna. Any antenna could have sent the signal. The poison systems built into the atmospheric processors were the problem but they weren't fully set up.
      By sending the signal prematurely, Konoko broke the poison systems by turning them on too early and to a higher level then they could handle.
