SAD. This escalated because Wagner started charging. That set the whole Camden side off. Not blaming just him but if you see actual footage boog didnt even react to getting punched was just gonna let the refs do their job. DJ is the leader of this team and the voice of the city, who’s watched generations of wagners play before him so when he reacts the whole city does the same. That’s why benches cleared. Once again not just blaming him but as a leader of a whole community you just got to be better. I hope this moment teaches the young brother a lesson man. I’m a huge Wagner fan and this is such a bad look to an illustrious highschool career and legacy to his name. 💜💛
Your right I love DJ,and I'm a Camden high alum class of 89💜💛 but after Boog hit the kid bacon, and the kid retaliated....Boog fell back, everything would of been ok from there?? But when DJ went charging after Bacon, instead of telling the bench to stay put and letting the officials sort things out, he made a terrible decision!!....It's like you said DJ is the one guy that s gonna get the team/ fans to react to his vibe!!....Whether its a peaceful reaction or a kaotic reaction,... and he took the wrong approach and kaos insued;..that's when the benches cleared and for all intents and purposes it was all over..... game/State tourney/season......damn shame!!!!!💜💛
Yes emotional management and regulation has to be piled on heavy especially with young Black men. There is a shortage of emotional stability in the Black community in general and DJ is hot headed. For the most part he is calm and level headed but when he feels him or his fam are disrespected he goes from 0 to 100. He's only 17 so I'm gonna give him some leeway. But unfortunately this ain't the first time he's gone off and charged a player from an opposing team. In Louisville at Nike EYBL last year he charged and started swinging on a player who was trash talking him during a game. This led him to being disqualified from a game the following day and NJ Scholars lost the game. His temper led to his team suffering. As a leader he has to be more selfless and think of his team and not just how he feels in the moment. These are 5 star recruits we are talking about with NIL deals, committed to D1 and D2 programs. They are out here winning prestigious awards. DJ is also a legacy and whether he likes it or not he may be targeted more when it comes to trash talking and kids are gonna be jealous and envious of that as well. It just comes with the territory. As a Senior in his final games for Camden he should be better at keeping his cool. And one of his other teammates was pointing the shooter sign when folks were trying to hold him back like they literally had to tackle him to the ground. That definitely could be taken as a threat. Like I said it just wasn't a good look especially given the area and the history of Camden. I just hope these young men are being talked to and Kudos to Aaron and Cian for keeping their cool and trying to descalate the situation.
I know they kids, but I need Cornelius Robinson to do some deep thinking after this. Might of costed himself his scholarship at UAlbany, almost had his future NBA lottery pick friend throw his entire future away in a split moment to defend him, and it’s looking like he cost his team another state title for the rafters. And Eastside who is also a reigning state champ another chance. All of that for what? One of the worst sports moment in Camden history. Stop trying to be a tough guy on the court and play ball.

Was at the game , I hope they can take something positive from this situation. They need to have the ability to control their emotions better because as they get older the consequences will only become worse. Some of those kids possible have futures, from my count Camden has 7 players who will play at the next level. A few may make it even further than that and at worst they will get a good education to help them succeed after basketball. They have to remember that they are not only representing their school but also the City of Camden. These kids have an opportunity to represent the city in a positive light , that didn't happen yesterday. The first thing I saw this morning when I hopped online was a story from the NY Post about the game...not a good look !
I completely agree. It's crazy folks across social media are trying to make these kids out to be victims. The only victims really are his teammates who were not involved and the ones who were sitting on the bench when it went down. Their opportunity of being robbed of a state title and exposure to gain momentum and offers. And the fact top 5 star recruits are involved is not a good look. They are at that age where emotional management and emotional regulation has be taught and piled on heavy especially young Black men because there is a deficit of emotional stability in the Black community. All it takes is a loss of control only for a few seconds and there could be serious consequences as we saw with them being disqualified for competing for the state title. Some of these kids got college offers, NIL deals, etc. They have to learn to rise above it and not allow trash talk to get to them. No one likes to be trash talked I get it but taking swings at people and being unruly especially this early when many of them have not even been recruited yet is not a good look. I hope this is a lesson learned for them for sure.
Exactly!! I watched to see what led up to it. They jumped on the floor to gain possession of the loose ball. Panthers #23 and Tigers #1 got flared up about.
