I'm sorry to hear your volcano got upgraded. I was in high school when mount st.helen erupted. We were warned about acid rain when it would rain 4-5 states over. Please be sure to protect the lungs of you and all your loved ones. Thank you for your reports on this. You are a great reporter. 👍👍

An important thing to consider when a VEI (volcanic explosivity index) is issued is time. There is a huge difference between a volcano that emits the volume we have seen over 60 days in La Palma, and the exact same volume blown out in 10 minutes somewhere else. Both might be labeled a 3 on the VEI scale but have radically different effects on the landscape and human life in the area.
@@feralbluee There is a similar problem with the enhanced Fujita scale for rating tornadoes. The scale is zero to five but it is based entirely upon damage to structures. The most powerful tornado in history would rate as a zero if it rolled across the plains without damaging any man made buildings or infrastructure.
The one thing I have been hoping for is any rain that comes will not be too heavy, I think the islanders have enough to deal with as it is. Good luck BB, stay safe.
There may not be ash that you can see or feel, but there could be very fine ash in the air that you cannot see. Be careful that you aren't breathing any very fine ash into your lungs, because it could have a bad effect on you in the long term. Stay safe and thank you for your reports.
