    For clarification: I should have simply said that Gun was a Xbox 360 Launch title that re-released mere weeks after it was already on all major platforms, so no it's not exactly "exclusive" but that higher fidelity version on consoles is. Also, X-Men Origins Wolverine funny enough is on PS2, but "uncaged edition" is only on the more powerful platforms, it's almost a different game.

    X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one of the only video game movie tie-ins that is almost objectively a better product than the film it’s promoting. Considering it was developed by Raven though, it shouldn’t come as a shock. That team is beyond underrated.

    Now that Microsoft owns Activision, what are the chances they can or will add both Gun and X-Men Origins Wolverine to the bc list on Xbox Series X?

    • @RetroMediaRoom
      @RetroMediaRoom  4 месяца назад

      I'd like to think so, but hard to say since they claimed they're officially done adding games to the BC program, I wouldn't count on it, but you never really know.

    Someone needs to update all those classics...and put them on Game Pass. They're better than a lot of the games we get today. Oh...and I think Brute Force could be included with those classics that aren't backwards compatable.

    Chronicles of Riddick EFBB is way better than Assault on Dark Athena.
    Those story elements, story building, pacing are all way worse.
    It's just way more generic run and gun game.
    I played the original EFBB through on OG Xbox (still have it of course) and then the re-release on Xbox 360 but that Assault on Dark Athena was just so far from EFBB that I never completed it.

      A multitude of technical and licensing issues across the board, unfortunately the days of say a PS2 or PS3 playing virtually 100% of any and all PS1 games and the Wii doing the same for GameCube games are in the past.

    I bought Stranglehold 10 years ago from Gamestop for about $9.99, and it's a lot of fun. I'm a fan of both John Woo and Chow Yun Fat, I've also seen Hard Boiled. He's basically an Asian Max Payne, and I would love to see a Stranglehold remake like how Max Payne 1 & 2 are getting a remake.
    I bought X-Men Origins Wolverine [CIB] for Xbox 360 almost 3 years ago from Facebook Marketplace in a 4 game bundle for $45 ($11.25 for each game)

    The games would be "forward" compatible (older gen games playing on newer gen hardware), The newer Systems would be described as "backward" compatible (a newer gen system able to play older gen games)

    • @RetroMediaRoom
      @RetroMediaRoom  2 месяца назад

      Xbox literally calls it the Backwards Compatibility Program, that's generally what I'm referring to, which includes backwards compatibility of OG Xbox games through Xbox 360 games across Xbox One and Series X/S consoles. Forwards Compatibility generally refers to hardware compatibility such as how an Xbox Series X controller works on the Series X as well as any Xbox One consoles and vice versa. You'll virtually never see anyone refer to Xbox 360 games being compatible on Xbox One consoles and above as "forward compatible."
      The Wikipedia definition:
      "Forward compatibility or upward compatibility is a design characteristic that allows a system to accept input intended for a later version of itself."
      In conclusion, for a game to be considered forward compatible it would have needed to have been intentionally designed with future hardware compatibility built into it from the start going forward, rather than the newer hardware having to adjust to go backwards.

    • @dustanglx50
      @dustanglx50 2 месяца назад

      @@RetroMediaRoom Yes the newer Xbox systems are called backwards compatible to the games. When they are describing "backwards" compatibility, they are talking about the system to the game.
      A backwards compatible game would be a New Xbox Series X/S game that you can play on a 360.
      Think of it on a timeline. The SYSTEM can play the games behind it (Backward). The GAME can be played on the systems in front of it (Forward).
      Don't worry, everyone wrongly calls the games "Backward Compatible". So much so that it's become an accepted term.

      @@nathanchambers985 Thank you for agreeing with me. Like I said in my previous comment, The term has been used wrongly for so often, it's become an acceptable term. I don't know how it's an "L" if we agree on that.
