It was a matter of time that a company make it right. I believe the only thing is still missing is that the earbuds automatically detect and switches to others’ languages, that would complete the experience
Bone conduction device would be more hygienic than earplugs, if you want to give it to a stranger in the street and chat with him about directions for example, and then give it to the next person, etc. What about confidentiality of the conversation since it is cloud based computing ? Otherwise it looks like a great device, we are leaving in the future, I will buy one asap.
Dude this is awesome. I work with a co-worker who only speaks Spanish and I mean she has to see by the look on my face I have no clue what she's saying when she's talking to me the whole full conversation. I know enough Spanish to maybe kind of understand what she's trying to tell me combined with her hand movements. This would make work so much more easy. I want to have to stand there just looking like a deer in the headlights and I'm not understanding what she said.
If they can find a way to make this an app, where we can just pull out our phones and start talking, I think this would be promising. The earphone idea is smart, but not sanitary. People don't wash their ears enough to be just giving my earphones to strangers!
Google Translate - it's free - and has a conversation mode that's identical to this. I lived in Japan for 4 months and every now and then i had to rely on the app (barbershop, dry cleaner) - worked like a charm. It also has other amazing features - works with the camera. ruclips.net/user/shortsWvy4aVws5yw?feature=share
while i think it could be helpful, i do believe if you plan to live in a foreign country. it's best not to use this unless absolutely necessary. you will learn more, and faster by not having the option.
The tag of 300 euros seems excessively steep given its utilization for just a few minutes during a vacation each year. Essentially, it's a real-time translator for a phone call. Considering that almost everyone already owns an in-ear device, the additional hardware appears redundant.
Does Listen mode work in a lecture format when you are not able to place your device near the presenter? For instance, if you are far from the stage but they are speaking through a microphone with speakers audible throughout the room?
I’ve tested this, and it does work in a lecture or large hall format provided the presenter is using a microphone. I do find that the translator has a difficult time catching up if there are not short pauses during the presentation.
@@kaikidance_ Approximately how long does it take to pause and then translate? I need this device to listen to my supervisor talking so I can respond quickly, but I don't want to give one of this earbud. Do you think this device can do that? Thanks for your feedback
@@farahglavana1922 if it’s 1-2 sentences at a time and there is a pause, it can translate pretty quickly. I found that if you’re watching a speech or a monologue, that’s when it has issues catching up. It could have been that my internet was slow too as I was in a large venue. So if there is a language you use often, I would recommend downloading it to make it available offline so you don’t have to worry about slow WiFi.
I purchased the WT2 Edge and it hardly works at all. The microphone picks up your speech for a few seconds then it abruptly stops working for the next 30 seconds. I tried it on another iPhone and it did the same thing. Perhaps I got a bad unit or perhaps this product is not all it is made out to be. I have a email and a voicemail into tech support and no response as yet. I packed the product up and am awaiting a response before I return the product.
Looks like you were editing the video to take out the time delay when translating. I have a set of these. If there is background noise the translations turns into gibberish
Nursing homes & hospitals in the USA should be required to have this technology! A friend of the family is in nursing home & has no translator in 2023!!
🎉Can i use it to translate foreign RUclips shows as I watch on my phone? Like, can I run the time kettle app and have it translate spoken words from RUclips or Netflix?
I am wondering if you could use them in both ears to self teach yourself a new language. I speak English and German fairly well but I would love to use them for Spanish, French, Hindi, and Chinese.
Hey, thanks for that video. Do you know if, Let say i'm speaking with someone on zoom or messenger, It can translate too? Or if I watch some youtube video in different language then it can translate too?
Do these earbuds link to the T1 mini and become even more flexible with offline translation? Did you notice any speed or latency differences between the T1 and T1 mini? Have you used the ZERO microphone with your phone and find it more helpful or faster than using the phones own microphone? Thanks...
❤ I'd really like the answer to this too! ¿Can these or, other products do translation on a voice call? That wasn't mentioned. Most translators need to be local, and both speakers in the same space.
I sing in a choir at church in Spanish. I can read espanol, but don't know what I'm reading. Can I use it while I am singing? Will it translate the words for me?
I just received mine a year after this video and likewise surprised English/Filipino translation was quite good but not perfect. Much to do with the person talking also.
Just got them and testing them, honestly, this review seems a bit misleading, there is a real noticeable delay until the translation is complete. More realistically, you say a statement/sentence, wait up to 3 seconds, then it starts to speak into the other earphone with the translated language. In this video, most of the time, you can see that the video has been edited, my assumption is to move faster in time to make seam more 'real-time'. This is not the case, I'll be doing a real review video of this with a stopwatch and audio output from each channel in real time so you can see the delays.
Question: If someone is speaking a language behind me in Walmart. WIll I be able to hear what they are saying in english? (And them not know I'm understanding)
It's very good, but can it be used in a way that you wear both and it just translates what someone else says. Otherwise not sure it will work for like on holiday, wouldn't be great handing one of them to each person you speak to if you're in a restaurant or shopping etc.
With my job we come in contact with a lot of people from South America. I want to know if this works with them just talking and the earbud just translating it in my ear or do they have to have the other earbud?
Hello I would like to know if the software also supports accents, for example I want to make a call in France, my interlocutor is French, when he listens to the translation will he receive the French accent?
I wonder if they have a device now that can translate without you having to change the settings to the language being spoken. Just auto identifies the language and translates. That would be awesome.
Great video. I’m looking through the comments to see anyone that has actually purchased this expensive device and had great success with it. Anyone care to share their experiences with this device other than the video creator?
Only having 8 offline languages is a major downside. I find that when traveling abroad, network connection is slow and unreliable. I would never buy a translation device that doesn't prioirtize smooth offline operations with many hosted or downloadable offline languages. For hikers, trekkers and long distance cyclists, you are rarely in internet cafes talking to strangers. You need to be able to talk to that Kyrgysh sheep herder to ask for instruction where to find water. Or negotiate the price to repair your scooter in a less common eastern european language.
I got mine from Amazon and had English and Greek set on earbuds but it failed bigtime to pick up and translate the correct meaning of what was being spoken. I dont know if I had a faulty purchase maybe I was just unlucky. can anyone say what the 8 offline languages are and what is this Fish Card
Does anyone know if they have this for multiple. Example, my pastor would wear one speaking English and those in the pews could wear them and hear him speak in their own language. Please let me know. Thank You.
Yes, I just got back from Rio de Janeiro and worked OK, I have had the WT2 Plus for a couple years, this new upgraded version looks much better, I will buy.
I was hoping for a device that picks up what the other person is saying without needing to give them anything. Just as long as you are wearing the device. It will work.
It would be more "real" if you did NOT cut the video everytime the pods translate. So that we could rate if it takes too long to translate to have a normal conversation.
