A life sentence in Sweden really is for life, but after 10 years the prisoner may start to send applications to have it turned over into a finite-time sentence. There is no guarantee that ever gets approved (and if it does depends on the severity of the crime and how dangerous the prisoner is estimated to be for society), but if it is, the finite-time sentence must not be shorter than a total of 18 years. I can't believe I missed this one, my notifications didn't flag me. Oh what a horrific story this is, she literally destroyed an entire family for the sake of apparent love for a man who wanted nothing to do with her, she really was sick in the head. I think what got me was the fact the little boy tried to protect his mom. Emma will never ever get over this, so even though she survived, her life has been destroyed and that is heart wrenching.
