Roots rock reggae artist, Nature Ellis, had the audience rocking and singing along with him at the Kingston Night Market. A must-watch.
International Reggae Artiste Nature Ellis, born Andre Ellis, birthplace on the western side of Jamaica in the parish of St. James.
He attended Glendevon All Age, St. James High, and also did some music theory at Herbert Morrison High, with a teacher there by the name of Mr. Mathew after winning a scholarship in singing and writing music in the year 2002 at the Pier One Party Centre in Montego Bay, show which was put on by the Record Label Danger Zone Production, while at the same time being taught how to control my voice by Mr. Bob Williams. But it did not start there, the first time he held a microphone in his hand was at Glendevon All Age School at about age nine (9) after being selected to represent his class with a singing piece at the school’s yearly concert, and that’s where he first realize his talent on stage as an Artiste and Performer.
Within that same period he was handed a microphone at a street dance in his community (Glendevon), where he grew up and the rest was history after his melodious voice excited his small audience which was mostly community members, credit to the sound system owner mostly known as Rocky who owns the sound system call Black Arrows which said: “Give the youth a chance to hold the microphone and do a song”.
Shortly after the 2002 scholarship Andre Ellis now Nature Ellis had to get a job at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Rose Hall Montego Bay, where he was a Machine Operator in the Laundry; because it was a tough time and Nature Ellis needed money to help support himself and help with the bills at his family house where he was living and grew up in, but after a few months to a year he could not bear working in a hotel when all he could think about was music and singing on some major stage, ministering to the people with good music - said Nature Ellis.
By that time he had about three (3) books filled with lyrics (songs) that he wrote in late 2004. He went to Kingston for the third time to stay in Kingston no matter how tough it may become.
After a few months of being in Kingston, I did some recording with Mr. Lloyd James (King Jammy’s Label) where I gained a lot of experience regards to recording.
In 2007 things started to look much brighter when I was acknowledged by the great Footballer and humanitarian Records Bibi Gardener who released two (2) songs on his label called Heart of Love Production along with two (2) videos, songs titled: Wasting Time/Searching for Love and Hold on, which did very well. In that year I traveled to the United States of America for the first time; to be exact, Atlanta.
By 2009, I toured Europe and countries such as Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Australia, and Italy; just to name a few.
In 2010 I toured Europe again and in 2011 I did some shows in Australia, with the help of a friend and partner Chris Lindsay/Chris Rock.
In 2012, Nature decided to do some promotion in Jamaica so that his fellow Jamaicans could be more aware of him. By the second half of 2012, Nature started doing some recording with D.S.R. from which songs derived such as World Peace, Revolution, Trying Man, and Love You; just to name a few.
Between 2015 and 2016, Nature Ellis performed in Brazil, opened for UB40 in England, and Ziggy Marley in California U.S.A.; just to name a few.
Nature was also awarded Ambassador for the WNO, for his single which was produced by Raz and Biggi; as the song titled: Preserve Nature is the official track for the Switzerland-based World Nature Organization (NWO).
Nature Ellis is known to be among the Top Five (5) Best Performers out of Jamaica up to this time.
This Montegonian, Andre Ellis, started performing at Glendevon All Age and on local sound systems in his Community, he didn’t realize that the approval and popularity would lead to a lifetime career as Nature Ellis, especially with the support of his 6 siblings and parents.
What you can never do is put Nature Ellis in a box musically, he considers himself a world artiste and will record tracks considered as R&B, Ska, Dancehall, and Reggae. This is evident in his recent album called Awaken released in 2020.
Nature Ellis's music is about social commentary, love, and overall about bringing people together to unite through equal rights and justice. His music is catchy and relatable, touching on topics about everyday life and situations that occur globally.
Other notable tracks for Nature include; World Peace and Love You, these were recorded while Nature was signed to DSR and released on his album Lifes Journey..
Now Nature under his Preserve Nature Entertainment brand stands as an independent artist.
