People dont make it because they think its an easy path. Theres so many aspects one could work on in their rapping whether its wordplay, punchlines, flow, etc. The thing is nobody tries to put in the work. And theres alot of competition.. you just have to find your way around it to stand out, have better marketing and keep working hard. Nipsey hussel rapped for over 10 years to get where he's at but independently. It doesnt come easy. May take a few years to have a decent following on soundcloud or such.
It's all about consistency, Nas kept putting out classic songs and he put the time and energy into mastering his craft. That's what the younger rappers have to do master the craft.

Nas is my favorite rapper of all-time, and it's simply for the main reason you said: when he rapped, you never heard the music but saw the images he was painting. Dude was definitely a prophet, and is still giving out wisdom to this day.
