Sounds Dope!!! If I may request one of your awesome tutorials that you created on the mpc's, if you would do a detailed tutorial on the (S2400) that would be so great. I have been watching your videos for a long time. I am hoping to see that video soon. Keep up the great work. Thank you for all your efforts and hard work an the time put in.
Absolutely amazing!! Well done. I have a tiny suggestion: At 5:19, you trigger the sample 1 or two semi-tones above what you end up playing it at, and then trigger it at the final pitch. I actually thought this progression was very fitting, and would include it in the sequence (maybe only every 16 bars or so, for the sake of interest)
There is nothing to compare I'm afraid - the vintage MPC modes are just an effect. You can easily tell this when reducing the pitch of a sample in the MPC in the SP1200 mode, it just adds this fake aliasing and hiss that doesn't change. Whereas the real artefacts that appear in a true 12 bit sampler change when you modify the pitch of a sample and the quality is very distinct - crispy, ringing and buttery (?!). You can almost taste the sound it's so good. I'm afraid it wouldn't be worth it - I do have a video on the mPC emulations and the only one worth speaking of is the MPC60 (possibly the 3000) as they give the sound a little more roundness and weight. Maschine Plus has much better aliasing with it's vintage engines, as does the Polyend Tracker.
@@TUBEDIGGA I know u got the videos, Imma a subscriber, 😂, but figured it would be a nice video, and yes it is only an effect, but, I would like to see a comparison or see if u can break the code to see if u can figure out how to come close
I love watching a master at work. Soo glad you got an s2400! Im waiting for mine to arrive. Keeping my fingers crossed that youll be doing some tutorials..... hint hint. Please keep these awesome vids coming
It is. I looked at it next to my turntable the other day and thought I could sell all my other gear (aside from my MPC One) and just focus on those and be fine with that. I still might :)
What I'm seeing showcased here that you don't normally find on modern gear is that you can put together sounds and it just blends them all together almost like an original recording. Would you say the S2400 is better than say an MPC X (which i have) for that? I've tried making sample based productions on the MPC X and while I love my X and got very far, I still can't quite get that sound that I want rhat those old 80s-90s recordings had, so I'm looking towards the S2400 if not just getting the vintage gear directly.
I think the 2400 forces you to be more simplistic/minimal than the MPC x, because the latter has so much more features to get lost in. I recently bought a vintage analogue mixer to route the 2400 through and it really makes all the difference in terms of mixing and separation without losing the togetherness. My mixes were much muddier and crowded when just using the main outputs.
100% St Germain vibes. I'm considering wasting al my student loan on an S2400 and you're course. Never had a go on one before but I really love the old stool 90s workflow. I was considering Perkins HD01, but dunno if this might be a better option? Both are way too much money and way more than I can afford, but if I don't do it when I can, then I never will!
@@h-dawg969 I had the Perkons for a week and sent it back. Sounded great but I found it to be a one (or few to be fair) trick pony. At least for the price. You’ll get a lot more out of the 2400 👍
Love your videos. Have a request: I need someone with the balls to do a tutorial series on the MC707 Partial tone editing endless parameters list. It's so intimidating on that little screen. I bet you could open up a whole new world on that thing.
@@TUBEDIGGA Peace Tubedigga, I have been looking at the Isla 2400 for a few months now. I was wondering how this would be for producing Brokenbeat music? Between this and the Akai Force. I wanted your insight.
I have my S950 on Ice until my S2400 arrives so I can purposely tag team them together like it was done with the original back in the day. Although I'm told this version actually sounds like an S950 in some areas.
Not to me. Although if you crank the track gain it nicely saturates samples like the 950 does when you sample in hot. But the 950 never had that aliasing because of the filter being in the way. I've heard you can do a mod to bypass it but that's another story :)

Do the MPC vintage mode comparison wit the 2400

@Tubedigga gotcha, thanks for the insight. So s2400 + vintage analog mixer might be the wave?
Samplers, man. I gotta use em more often.
Sounds like a Mr.Scruff Joint! :D
I was thinking more Cinematic Orchestra or St Germain 😉

Can we got some early to mid naughties, Signature Recordings type tracks you reckon? Mr Right On / Carry me away type tunes? That would be luscious!

I don’t own the 707 anymore I’m afraid, the sample editor pissed me off a bit.
A good machine in many ways but wasn’t a keeper 👊
