Last year I did our first GaMetal Christmas Special: Frosty Village / Walrus Cover from Diddy Kong Racing. I had a lot of fun doing it, in fact it's one of my favorites from 2020.
Initially, I didn't think I'd have time to do another one this year, but when the end of the year started getting closer, I decided to swap a few songs up on my to-do list and do an easier song than what I had planned instead.
Enter Cool, Cool Mountain! This is the first 'wintery' song that comes to mind for me personally whenever I think of the Mario soundtracks, but I usually see it getting passed up in favor of other Mario songs like Frappe Snowland or Snowball Park.
Not this time!
Also I should go ahead and note: the official title of this song is actually "Snow Mountain", but that just doesn't sound as cool.

I miss having my DS, it broke sometime ago and I used to have super mario 64 on it. One of my fav stages just to slide everywhere. This cover brought back some nice memories, thank you, and Merry Christmas!
I still have my 3DS. My Friend gave me the game and I still have to this day. I like to slide everywhere in the game too. Especially in the snowy stages. I'm sorry that you no longer have your DS. I hope you have a Merry Christmas.🎁🎄

I never had a Nintendo 64, but I still remember with such nostalgia playing this game or watching other people play it.
Such a christmas banger, retail workers deserve to listen to some snow level tracks from videogames instead of being forced to listen the same songs again and again.

I have great memories playing Super Mario 64 with my father when I was little. This game, and its music, will always hold a special place in my heart.
Same! My dad is actually the one that encouraged us to save for our Nintendo 64, because he was so blown away by the graphics at the time! We spent hours in Jolly Roger Bay trying to figure out how to get the eel out of the ship, before we had internet access
