I’m a middle school teacher and have always found it so inappropriate and WEIRD when teachers take pictures and/or film their students at school. The school usually has parents sign a media release at the start of the school year, BUT that’s for the school’s social media pages, not for teacher’s personal instagram or TikTok accounts. So many teachers cross boundaries that baffle me.
When I sign that media form and I always say NO I guess I just assumed that would include the teacher as well but that makes sense and I would def have a problem with my kids being on their pages now I wouldn't mind if maybe it was 1group shot but that's it!!
I loveeee long videos because I leave RUclips on the background while I cook and clean so that I can watch along and listen. I LOVED how long your video was and would love to see more of that from you! (But also I’ll watch short too.. it’s just easier when it’s longer bc I don’t have to find another thing to watch and task switch as an adhd’r lol)
The profession of public school teaching is getting less and less pay, support, and respect, which is why I left the profession. Prepare for the quality of teachers to go down further and further, because many of the good ones are leaving in droves (still lots of good ones stuck in and suffering though) and instead of enticing them back, schools settle for uncertified, unqualified hires.
I love that you guys use and utilize every part of your house. I have a full finished basement that’s literally like a fully functioning apartment and I never go down there.
Hey Kiki, in regards to filming kids in school, not sure how it is everywhere else, but here in Montreal, Canada the parents have to sign a media release form allowing your kids to be filmed, etc. however, this definitely does not include any staff’s social media accounts lol! And yes, I’d be furious!! Actually there is a lawsuit happening right now here as, no word of a lie, there was a high school teacher selling his students art on mugs and stuff online!! (A student came across some of their art being sold online unbeknownst to them!)Crazy😜
Same in Wisconsin parents have to sign a waver at first I didn’t allow it but when they were in their jr. year I did because they were very involved in FFA and it’s pretty huge they travel a lot they’re going to dairy expos all kinds of events. So when Graduation hits they have slides about your kids journey it would be sad not to get a glimpse of what your child accomplished and experienced during that time. Besides we’re a pretty tight community and a small town so if something was up you’re gonna hear about it. Thank goodness there wasn’t but personal phones were not permitted at school so there’s that.
High school teacher here! I’m on year 7 and I’m 29. I would NEVER film a conversation between myself and a student or make TikTok’s like that at work. Yes, I do like to make classroom set up videos and stuff like that, but that content is about ME, not them. And it’s outside contract hours. I feel like it’s really common amongst really young teachers. I would also not have that conversation about vaping. If a kid came to me with that issue, I would absolutely talk to them about it, but then I would bring the issue to the nurse and/or counselor and have them take it from there.
It was a great video and the receipts you provided truly shows how much work and research you did. I always appreciate these helpful and educational videos.
Teacher here, I find it NUTS that teachers have TikToks, Instagrams, etc. It is often against school policy to work a second job during contractual time. That’s essentially what they are doing. When are they grading? Planning? Also, these children are being exploited for their teacher’s monetary gain. If I was a parent, I’d be livid. I don’t put my own children on socials.
hi! elementary school teacher here. i have a teacher tiktok (i’ve posted like 4 tiktoks on it in 3 years lol) but i would NEVER film my students or even their voices and post it on social media. my intention was to use it to share myself talking about my job in general (not my students), share resources, or to post about cool classroom stuff or teacher outfits lol. that vaping one is especially weird because it’s not even the student in a normal classroom setting, speaking about normal class things (like i’ve seen teachers post funny things where students guess old songs or something but even with those i think their voices should be altered in the vid so they’re unrecognizable)…the vaping conversation a very PERSONAL matter. 😧 the fact that she posted it is alarming.
Yeah I don’t have too much of an issue when teachers record just amongst the other teachers and give no detail or footage of the students. But strictly just amongst the teachers like during their break or after school stuff. I HATE when they have it set up while class is in session, so distracting and invasive. And also I love the bloom video!!
Sometimes I actually understand why countries prohibit filming in public spaces, buildings, shops etc., and every person appearing in your footage has to have given written consent! In some countries you can’t even use a dash cam or GoPro. Entertaining as always! Best wishes
I’m a former teacher and I completely agree about the filming! I honestly don’t know how they get away with it because I worked at two school and did internships/field experience at a bunch and each one had policies where you can not film students. I was the yearbook advisor at one point and had to take pictures of kids at events in my phone and that was stressful enough 😂
As a parent...if my child was vaping and she felt comfortable reaching out to a teacher to get help to stop i would be fine with it!!! But why film it is my question!?!?
you are the queen of finding random items on amazon that solve the world's most NICHE problems. i think about the wrist washcloths every time i wash my face, i need those and the elbow rest now🤣
My daughter is a music teacher in a primary school (the same one she attended as a child) and a piano fell on her. (she's fine) The school administrator called me to tell me, we were laughing about it (she was fine) and said it was all on video and I said, we'll be Tik Tok famous! She said "OH NO! NONE OF THAT GOES OUT TO ANYTHING LIKE THAT AT ALL!" And it's true. The school has a FB page and select things are shared and all the parents have to sign releases for that. This gym teacher would be out on her ear in my district.
As a continuation high school teacher I talk to my kids all the time about vaping and drugs. It’s a huge problem. But I would never video it. I’m always asking, what are you numbing? I’ve had a student that I’ve only seen sober once. Our fire alarm goes off a few times a month because of vaping in the bathroom. They are on campus 4.5 hours. The fact that they can’t vape and risk expulsion is crazy to me.
As a parent I would not be too pleased if my Kiddo was filmed and then posted on social media. I think that's great that the teacher is helping the kiddo be held accountable. But those conversations are for private not for posting everywhere.
I think the video was great! I only commented on it a billion times 🤣 which I can only hope helps the algorithm.. the whole aspartame bit freak me out!! Especially because that was the first time I ever heard of it 🤯 Anyways.. I get SO stoked when you post!!! And at the end when you said you have lots of ideas, I yelled lmaooo. Keep doin wht you’re doin!!! We love you
I have 2 teenage boys and if one of them was struggling with vaping, I would hope a teacher would help them quit BUT I would be pist if ANY conversations with my boys were ever filmed for social media, that’s what’s crossing the line in my opinion
Yupp, bothers me. I would be so beyond pissed if my child was in a teachers tik tok. But I’ll never have to worry about that, because my children will never go to public school. I refuse ☺️
It’s 100% inappropriate for a teacher to film their students for anything without written permission from their parents. Filming them should be illegal. I imagine it is in some places. These are laws we never need it before but we need to make sure we’re talking to our community leaders to let them know we don’t want our children on TikTok with their teachers.
My son is still a toddler but the idea of him being in school one day and a teacher recording an interaction with him and then posting it online would be crossing the line. I would NOT be okay with that. It’s so inappropriate. Like do not make content off of other peoples children. It should be common sense.
I have a teenage son who had no social media FOR A REASON and my social media is private with only people I know personally as followers. If I saw my child featured on a teacher’s social media, that teacher and I would be having some words BIG TIME and that post would be taken down. I have zero tolerance for that nonsense
The teacher one really pissed me off. If our kids even flip their phone out to check the time it gets confiscated and we (the parent) have to go up to the school to pick it up AND PAY A FINE.
That is inappropriate behavior by the teacher. My niece and my friend are teachers and they are very mindful about what they post on social media. They would be fired for doing something like this. They don’t even want to be shown in a photo with other adults with an alcoholic beverage in their hand. It’s frowned upon. I agree with you that this is irresponsible behavior on the teacher’s part and the parents should be concerned and voice their opinions, imho.
I wouldn’t be okay with a teacher filming my kids that’s so weird but not that it really makes it any better that could just be be where they have lockers not necessarily a gym room locker
Teachers should never film and post their students. Even If it’s just a convo with the student and their face can’t be seen. That is absolutely crossing the line, and exploitation in my opinion. That teacher was probably a health/PE teacher and thinks she’s sending a great message about rewarding the student for quitting vaping. It’s absolutely not ok. Makes me sick to my stomach. Because that kid might have consented to be posted….but they are still just a kid. Im sure they think TT is so cool but They don’t know the ramifications of this. That’s their voice in the TT. So now all their classmates will know personal info about them and might tease them. Not to mention it’s all for an AD?! What is wrong with people🤦🏻♀️ But also want to add….my parents were teachers, my husband and daughter are teachers. The pay is awful, the support is nonexistent, parents nowadays are awful and so many of the kids are monsters. Most teachers are doing a great job and need to be lifted up and supported. I do worry about the ones that are trying to be TT famous. The one in this video crossed way too many lines.
There’s a fine line teachers are walking with the social media stuff especially with the dances or something like that. Teachers go into their positions without a lot of training. These social media posts are actual resources that give teachers ideas of new things they can do in their classrooms or how to teach something they’ve been struggling to teach and they see a new way. They shouldn’t be posting personal conversations they have with their students for content. But if they have a release from the parents to create content that may help enrich other classroom environments, I don’t really see anything too wrong with it.
Teachers filming is the second hand version of mommy vlogging. How could these kids even consent to being on a teacher's daily vlog when they're under age obviously and their parents and legal guardians haven't been informed to help provide consent as their caretaker. It should be illegal. Not to mention that the locker room conversation feels like it should be a HIPAA violation. Exposing a kids school, voice, and medical information for millions of people to watch. It's sick!
Just used your link to order the rest thing for my son. He is always streaming on Twitch and could probably use that thing. I don't understand Twitch or streaming but that thing looks useful to him 😊 Thank you for showing it.
Ive never seen a kids face shown on a teacher's social media so i don't really see an issue with it. That being said I'd think the school would take issue with a teacher filming while actually teaching as they pay them to teach, not film. As for the change room thing it seems she is a gym teacher and thats her office with a window to the change room, thats how it was in my middle achool. It could easily be after school or her free period so she knows no one is in there but it deff is a gray area.
No child under the age of 18 should be filmed....period. They are not of age to sign a legal contract or give consent...period. There should be laws in place to protect the kids and dumb parents. Any teacher contract should have a clause where they are not allowed to film inside the school for social media purposes. Don't talk about your class or the children. It's getting ridiculous! I'd file a lawsuit immediately!
Yeah teachers need to protect themselves and their students and not film when their students are in their classroom, I know sometimes it may seem innocent. Maybe it’s just their voices, maybe sometimes it’s purely educational, and maybe that’s okay I guess but, if I was a teacher- nope. No filming at all I don’t care haha you never ever know how a parent will react, how the child will feel about it later in life like it’s just not appropriate.
A teacher in the school I work at makes Tik Toks of her SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS dancing etc. and posts them without parental consent. She’s been talked to...nothings changed 😮 absolutely nuts.
I’m a high school teacher and my students are always spilling their guts to me (then I politely/professionally try steer the conversation elsewhere lol) I feel like it’s so inappropriate to share school life on social media, even if it’s just their voices and conversations…it’s just odd and it feels like these teachers are using students as their content
This is off subject but schools in general are going downhill! Check out what’s going on in my town of owasso Oklahoma a non binary student has passed after being bullied for over a year. A fight broke out and nex the 16 yr old student passed the next day!! 😢
I substitute teach for P.E. all the time. She’s in the office of the girls’ locker room, but there aren’t students in there at the time (probably after school). There is a window from the office to the locker room, so that students are still supervised and don’t do anything crazy (like fights, bullying, drugs, etc). Teachers go through a lot to be able to teach. If they aren’t doing any harm, is it really that much of an issue??
Filming students without their consent and/or knowledge, for the sole purpose of posting the video online, IS technically harmful. Kids have a right to their privacy and shouldn't have to be on the Internet if they don't want to
I agree with you kmom and she was the only one on camera so i mean I don’t think it’s that serious but I would not mix school with personal life at all just to be safe
@@kirstenglae I agree for this video she wasn't showing the kid, but she still posted a private conversation. Students should feel safe to talk to their teacher without fearing their conversation will be MONETIZED on social media Also, the window to the locker room seems creepy, what if a teacher is a pervert ? (I understand why they do it though, just seems creepy)
What states are these schools in because I live in NY and have never heard of this type of thing going on whatsoever. Also in NY teachers are required to have a masters degree and they make six figures long before retirement.
I was a teacher in NY for 7 years, and yes, our standards are higher than most states, but many poorly-budgeted public schools here still bend the rules regarding teacher qualification requirements by hiring long-term substitutes because the low pay they offer cannot attract better candidates. In my seventh year, I was earning just under 57K-and I was quadruple certified with a Master’s degree. It would have taken many, many more hard years to get to six figures.
@@SkySpiral8 Yeah that might be the case for some especially in the city but out in Long Island everyone wants to be a teacher, the salary is high and they retire with a nice pension.
I'm a para in a school, I think this teachertok thing is supposed to be giving ideas for other teachers. i've also noticed some of them make bulletin board stuff and sell them on teacherspayteachers so they use their classroom as promo for their tpt. i think if they're doing one where they are on camera and not the kids it's okay. but having the locker room in the background of that video has me sus. that's weird, wheres the teacher's classroom and desk? is she a gym teacher maybe... idk its weird.
I find this disturbing that teachers film conversations with students! They shoukd not be allowed to put them on social media without the students consent.
I'm not a parent, but this is not ok. I can't help but wonder if this woman is a parent. How would she feel if her kid appeared on their teacher's social media? My high school's locker room was set up exactly like this. I don't recall any locker room fights happening, but now that I'm an old lady, I'm not a fan of this setup. Kids deserve some privacy.
Definitely shouldn’t be filming in school, have you ever seen those videos where the teachers literally film the kids walking into the classroom in the morning and either getting like a hug or a high five? Those videos always struck me wrong and I wonder if those parents know their kids are in those videos! I would be livid ngl
Your rude! You have NO business telling someone to go wash their hair. Who do you think you are? You need to go away. We only put positive comments on her channel, so your not welcome here with your EXTREMELY uncalled for snotty comment… Women need to be kind to each other and there was NO excuse for that comment! There’s enough rudeness in the world and your obviously one of them. Go away and get help with whatever is making you feel the need to be so rude!
I think the topic of teachers on social media, filming in classrooms and the filming of their students would be a very intriguing main channel video ☝
Never cut your videos too much! I LOVE your long ones. The longer the better!
As a parent, I would not be ok with my kid on their teachers social media.
Not to mention it forces them to look for additional streams of income.
The teaching that boys can be girls to kids. Also, how the school does not have to inform the parents if their child “changes” gender or name
It’s the same here in Texas. They can only use those pictures or videos for school related purposes.
Same in New Hampshire!

The bloom video was so good!!!!
I’m glad this didn’t go on when my kids were in school! I would be furious!
Great video Kylie!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I love long forum videos. It’s nice to have on while I work and sit in pick up line ❤
hi! elementary school teacher here. i have a teacher tiktok (i’ve posted like 4 tiktoks on it in 3 years lol) but i would NEVER film my students or even their voices and post it on social media. my intention was to use it to share myself talking about my job in general (not my students), share resources, or to post about cool classroom stuff or teacher outfits lol.
that vaping one is especially weird because it’s not even the student in a normal classroom setting, speaking about normal class things (like i’ve seen teachers post funny things where students guess old songs or something but even with those i think their voices should be altered in the vid so they’re unrecognizable)…the vaping conversation a very PERSONAL matter. 😧 the fact that she posted it is alarming.
As an elementary teacher, I’d NEVER film anything social media in the classroom, kids in or not! Inappropriate!
I’d happily watch 2 hr videos
I watched the whole bloom video and really enjoyed it!!!
Yeah I don’t have too much of an issue when teachers record just amongst the other teachers and give no detail or footage of the students. And also I love the bloom video!!
TikToks in classrooms would be a good main channel video. Don't forget about the videos where kids are screaming and being rude to teachers as well
Sometimes I actually understand why countries prohibit filming in public spaces, buildings, shops etc., and every person appearing in your footage has to have given written consent!
In some countries you can’t even use a dash cam or GoPro.

i just watched the whole bloom video in one sitting so it’s definitely not too long

Oooh on Bloom? I have been waiting in critiques. Yes!
I think you and Jarvis just hit on your next main channel video - teachers using their students for content.
Im over here wanting you to release the extended 2 hr version lol
As a parent...if my child was vaping and she felt comfortable reaching out to a teacher to get help to stop i would be fine with it!!! But why film it is my question!?!?

It has to be a breech of privacy! I would lose my mind if I found out a teacher was filming in the school
I’m a high school teacher. I’m almost positive we are NOT ALLOWED to film any students in any way, without parent permission.

Also, recording that conversation could be against FERPA…I’m not sure.
@@conniescozynook They don’t show the kids without consent. You may hear their voice, but you don’t see the student.
@@kirstenglae I agree for this video she wasn't showing the kid, but she still posted a private conversation. Students should feel safe to talk to their teacher without fearing their conversation will be MONETIZED on social media
Also, the window to the locker room seems creepy, what if a teacher is a pervert ? (I understand why they do it though, just seems creepy)
@@kirstenglaeokay, but a teacher should not be filming their students in any form and posting it on social media
Oversharing is a big problem nowadays...
@@rachellemini8632 oh, I see, you’re downstate, and that could be very different from my upstate experience
@@rachellemini8632 plus Long Island is wealthy
I'm a para in a school, I think this teachertok thing is supposed to be giving ideas for other teachers. i've also noticed some of them make bulletin board stuff and sell them on teacherspayteachers so they use their classroom as promo for their tpt. i think if they're doing one where they are on camera and not the kids it's okay. but having the locker room in the background of that video has me sus. that's weird, wheres the teacher's classroom and desk? is she a gym teacher maybe... idk its weird.
❤❤❤
I don’t think teachers should be filming either! I would be so made if it were my kid!
I find this disturbing that teachers film conversations with students! They shoukd not be allowed to put them on social media without the students consent.
Why don't you just get a computer chair with arms attached to it?☺Love your videos as usual.
Aaaaand this is why we pay to have my son in private school.
If that was here I would have a lawsuit.
Definitely shouldn’t be filming in school, have you ever seen those videos where the teachers literally film the kids walking into the classroom in the morning and either getting like a hug or a high five? Those videos always struck me wrong and I wonder if those parents know their kids are in those videos! I would be livid ngl
Ban tik tok filmed in secure spaces like schools, hospitals, gyms, etc. So gross!
Should not be filming students in general but I doubt if the child has parents who care.
The teacher accounts are weird
I think it’s hall lockers? Not an actual changing locker.
Locker rooms are in many places that are not schools, fyi.
Also, wash your hair.
Or….you could be kind & polite 😊
Sort your eyebrows first 🤦🏻♀️
