Honestly, I really like this game. While yes it may be unpolished and it might not really be worth the 60 dollars, it's a good game if you watch somebody who knows how to play it. The plot line is not as jumbled as it may seem if you know how to read in between the lines, and the character design is quite phenomenal. Yes, the characters may be lacking backstory or any significant development but that's alright if your one who's just in it for the game-play. Don't listen to the haters, they're just here to complain. Awesome video
Same. Honestly, though it's already been said, I'd love to see a re-release of this game. Maybe even a sequel where the gang helps a kid in a "Return to Wonderworld".
I don't care what the critics say about this game, Balan Wonderworld earned itself a seat beside The World Ends with You as one of Square's greatest hidden gems.
The game is not perfect, but it’s also not bad and definitely NOT the “ worst game in 2021” it’s a good game and the people who don’t like it , well it’s just not their type
Thats a really bad excuse "Big rigs is a good game its just not your type of game" "Castlevania judgement is a good game is just not your tipe of game" "Fallout 76 is a good game is just not your type of game" I can continue to make my point more obvious thats one of the worst argumnts i have ever seen to defend a game It is a bad game and many of its mechanics are regressive like the one button action but you could say it has its charm in the character design and the music but the game is not good Theres no problem in liking a bad game i even have some bad games that are in my favorites but im not going to deny that they are bad

@@Abion47 ah, i looked up "balan" or "balan christianity" on google (can't remember which) and it took me to a wikipedia article explaining that Balan was a devil
@@pinkment6824 You are thinking of Balam/Balaam, a king of hell whose name was derived from the false prophet who was also named Balaam. It is rarely spelled like "Balan", but that's not his true name.
@@pinkment6824 Then you can tell your dad that an internet stranger says that if his faith is threatened by a game where the titular character's name is vaguely similar to that of an obscure minor lord of hell whose very existence is buried deep within the extended Christian mythos, then his faith is weak as fuck.
I stopped taking the characters seriously 10 seconds into the intro when the main player character did some happy breakdance move which cheered up everyone in a 50-meter radius, then suddenly remembered that he was supposed to be a troubled child and turned moody for literally no reason, even going so far as to completely blow off the people he had made cheerful not 5 seconds prior. I am now 12 minutes through the video and nothing I have seen has challenged that initial impression of the characters' depth and complexity. The visual style and design of the game is phenomenal, which makes it tragic to say that that is really the only part of the game that isn't a complete mess. The characters have no backstory or motivation, or really any investment in the plot whatsoever. Balan himself doesn't provide any context whatsoever as to where you are or why anything is happening, and really beyond the intro cinematic seems to be secondarily involved at most in the overall plot. Who I presume is the main antagonist shows up using the textbook definition of "unceremoniously", then completely without explanation summons a bunch of chump baddies and dips off. This is the most confusing and unfocused story I have ever seen in a video game, and I am only 12 minutes into it. And the gameplay just seems like they lifted it straight from Super Mario Odyssey without incorporating any of the mirror polish that made that gameplay great. The player is slow compared to the scale of the world, many actions are stiff and unsatisfying, and the "puzzles" so far seem like different variations of QTEs, collectible-mania, and Mario-Party-style mini-games. It just goes to show that making a video game around simple controls and a core mechanic really takes a ton of work to make it play well. Yes, the style of this game is endearing, which is what makes it such a shame that the execution flopped so badly. Zero Punctuation put it best: "This isn't standard games industry terribleness. There's clearly a vision behind it... just not a vision that operates on any light spectrum from our universe." EDIT: I am now 40 minutes in, just past the cutscene after the first coss fight. The initial impression of the characters stands - the kid(s) question nothing whatsoever as to why they are where they are and why they are doing what they are doing. The main protagonist's backstory and motivation seem to be he is a Dick Lord that likes doing dick things and turning people into little dick minions that the player must make back into not dicks by beating the tar out of them until the physical trauma teaches them how to be happy again. The farmer has the most character development of any character so far, and that he is a farmer who has a farm and he is happy on the farm until one day an _E V I L_ tornado blows his crops down and that makes him sad which makes him susceptible to being turned into a dick by Dick Lord, but the player kid reminds him to not give up on his dreams or something like that and seeing the lone stalk of corn that survived the evil tornado makes him irrationally giddy like he forgot the fact that a yield of a single stalk of corn isn't going to save his farm financially. Also, what the HELL is the explanation for that dance number?
It is as horrible as I had heard... the movement system, the lack of an actual jump button, the item collection nonsense. Which really, it truly sucks because near every other aspect of this game save for the dancing after each boss is beautiful. The graphics, the worlds, the character design. This is just not a good game, gameplay wise. Yeesh...

It is a nonsense game, I manage to identify with the main characters because they simply do not have a good development and paea the colo Because at the end of each battle they dance is simply ridiculous, in addition to the fact that the development of the characters is very simplistic, it does not deserve to be called development and I would call it a lack of history.
