    Nice mate, did you not keep the snook? They're supposed to be good eating. 🎣

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  3 года назад +1

      Hey Terry, i didn't mate, ended up hooking about 3 of them actually for the session. Never thought to keep one for the table, thought of keeping one for bait perhaps. Had an assumption that they were boney?

    • @tezzaskayakfishing
      @tezzaskayakfishing 3 года назад

      Paul Malov Fishing not really boney apparently, they have a row running down the side. Nice white, mild flesh.

    Hey mate, any chance you could help out with kayak launch locations in that area? Cheers

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  3 года назад +1

      Hey Luke. I just launched at the Half Moon car park boat ramp. Perfect for yaks and small boats, as the ramp is very shallow. Easy paddle/pedal around to black rock/ricketts or up to Sandy/Hampton. Car park gets paaacked so try to come early. Middle of the day is chaos when trying to retrieve

    Hey Paul quick question which range of millerods best suits mulloway and king fishing do you reckon?

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  3 года назад +1

      Hey Petoz, i'd look at a VibeFreak 732 - 3-6kg and the BeastBuster LM mate - cracking rods for that sort of stuff!

    • @LilPetoz
      @LilPetoz 3 года назад +1

      @@PaulMalovFishing yep I was looking at the vibefreak but that’s more towards the school Jews wouldn’t it be? Don’t think it would be that good for the kings?

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  3 года назад +1

      @@LilPetoz Definitely on the lighter side - the BeastBuster LM would be more suitable for meter+ fish. I've knocked over 110's locally on 3-6kg rods and 2500 size reels quite comfortably, the Melbourne mulloway don't do THAT much, plus light current flows.
      If you need to throw something heavy or dealing with current and bigger fish, go the BeastBuster

    • @LilPetoz
      @LilPetoz 3 года назад

      @@PaulMalovFishing also what size reel would suit the vibefreak for land based, cheers for response Paul!

    Just wanted to have this little rave and it’s you I decided to level it to. So I’ve been interacting with someone who puts up vids on you tube. No name. It’s become apparent that my gear is of low quality it the scheme of things. Let’s be real here, he and a lot of others are willing and able to buy a whole gamut of combos to Bream fish and we are talking average of $500-$600 some over $800;for the rod,reel set. I am not,will never be able to buy even one combo to this expense. From my side of the fence I’m very happy, even proud to own my Daiwa Freams 2500 reel with a Shimano 7’3 2-4kg Maikuro rod. Apparently “cheap” and at $320 the combo I know it’s not encrusted with diamonds. Some of my mates I fish with have salivated, drooled over the high end big deal of the rod-reel. I still get a kick out of the way it projects out unweighted baits and lightly weighted like a missile. Anyway I like it. It’s just that everyone seems to think without the big newy off the shelf for the wiz bangery and gizmos then they’ve got to have it. Last years Freams is this years Daiwa MQ.

    • @PaulMalovFishing
      @PaulMalovFishing  3 года назад +2

      Hey Justin, you make some great points mate, high end gear isn't critical to catch small fish like bream/pinkies etc, it's all personal preference - i've never once said in a video or post that the high end rods and reels are critical and all that will catch these fish. Rod and reel technology has come such a long way in the last few years that the old $1000 combos can now be had for $4-600 and so on and so forth...And then there's the marketing and social media aspect of it all which makes people feel like that's what they need to buy/use. Just my 2c

      At end of day one should try to remain open and willing to try new things. I mean I haven’t ever used for instance a “Millerods Grubfreak” so I am only talking with half the experience. One thing I know, when I was onto a 34 cm Bream down early morn at Wallis Lake, Forster, the fine tunery I was able to impart on that fish with the drag subtlety on the Daiwa Freams. It seemed limitless. Anyway just learning.
