    Consider sharing this video sa mga kakilala ninyo to give them an idea about IT, and support me by liking this video and subscribe na rin kayo if you want more videos in the future!
    Basis lang itong video na toh para may idea kayo, and alam kong may pagkakaiba na mangyayari sa sarili ninyong experiences as a first year BSIT student, so keep that in mind lang.
    I couldn't really cover everything since gusto kong maging concise itong video na toh for IT freshmen, hence naging overview siya, but I hope that this video still delivers :-D
    I'd like to point out na halos puro online classes itong first year ko, pero the activities, concepts and topics remains the same. Kung sa university na kayo nag-aaral ng personal, may chance na may mga bagay na mararanasan ninyo na hindi ko nabanggit sa video na ito.
    Feel free to leave a comment down below to let me know about what you think, things that I could improve on, your suggestions, or anything na gusto niyong sabihin, really!

    Kuyaaaaa thank you for making this content! Kasi sobrang frustrated ako sa program na kinuha ko and i'm not really sure kung mag-eexcel ako sa field na 'to. Hindi mo man tinackle ng malalim yung bawat topic na yon pero binigyan kami no'n ng ideas sa mga ma-eencounter namin along the way. Thank you sa mga advices and tips. Please continue making this kind of videos for us and for future students who will pursue this field. Thank you!

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  Месяц назад +1

      Believe me when I say na plinano ko talagang i-cover yung bawat topic/concept in every course (especially in programming, logic, and discrete mathematics) pero masyadong malaki lang talaga yung mga downsides niya: aabot ng isang oras o mahigit yung video, mahihirapan yung attention span ninyo, and masyadong information overload at overwhelming/daunting na siya for first year students like you, so I had to cut losses talaga by merely mentioning the topics instead.
      I understand na hindi mo siguro nakita yung sarili mo sa field ng IT at dahil doon nagkakaroon ka ng mga doubts sa sarili mo at sa mga capabilities mo as a student, and I’m here to tell you na that scenario is common and it is completely normal to feel that way - I can’t disregard your circumstances, that is valid, pero that doesn't mean na talo ka na agad or doomed to fail ka na just because of that.
      Kung sariling decision mo talaga na manatili sa program na toh hanggang graduation, I don’t see your frustration, circumstances, nor doubts as impossible obstacles sa page-excel mo sa field na toh - if you’re really willing to have an open mind and to learn all sorts of topics/concepts that the BSIT program has to offer, if you’re willing to develop a firm and growth mindset despite experiencing struggles and setbacks, and if you’re willing to stick and see things through until the end, I believe na makakaya mo itong mga toh as you make your way in your BSIT college years.
      But that’s my opinion lang naman, it may sound idealistic or it may not, sometimes hindi lang talaga tama yung nabagsakan or napuntahan natin - we can’t really tell just yet. But I do hope na maibigay mo parin yung best mo regardless of your circumstances, not using them as excuses, and seeing for yourself kung kakayanin mo ba talaga yung program na toh.
      I apologize kung naparami yung mga pinagsasabi ko dito or if it didn’t really make any sense at all, I’m very glad that you found this content valuable and I’m wishing you the best sa college journey mo dito sa BSIT program!

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  4 месяца назад +5

      Kung ako tatanungin, I'd say na kunin mo yung: [1] passionate ka talaga as of the moment; at [2] yung aligned sa future goal, mission, or dreams mo; ang pinagkaiba lang talaga kasi nung tatlong courses na yan is yung scope at focus nila - BSCS is more on the computer concepts, theories, at algorithms (kaya andaming mathematics din talaga dyan); BSIT is more of a general one kasi handle nila both software and hardware (programming, front-end and back-end ng mga websites, computer architecture, at networking); tapos BSIS naman is primarily on the business side.
      Anyways, congrats sa pagpasa ng entrance exam mo! I'm glad na naging informative tong video na toh (which hopefully nakatulong din sayo slightly na makapag-decide kung anong course ita-take mo) at good luck sa aptitude test mo!

    This video motivating me na ipagpatuloy yung BSIT eventhough yung dream course ko talaga is Electronics, i see comments kasi or post sa mga FB na kesyo (shif course na!!) or (napaka hirap ng IT) But this video reminds me na walang madaling course sa college and lahat mahirap also I'm not good at mathematics but siguro ang reason ko why this is my 2nd choice is I have some knowledge about coding in AIDE (Android IDE) Using free source codes in internet and that time nahirapan ako sa pag fix ng errors pero na kaya ko naman, I just want to ask lang po kung anong magandang gawin sa tulad ko na may short term memory and mahina sa math para masurvive ang course na ito thank you so much

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  2 месяца назад

      I think we're on the same boat in terms of having a short-term memory, kasi most of the time, I can hardly remember in detail yung mga topics na diniscuss saamin kapag nakalipas na yung isang week - isama mo na dyan yung mga laboratory lectures or demonstrations kung saan hirap ako tandaan kung ano yung mga steps or procedures na ginawa para gumana or magawa yung isang bagay na yon (which is kaka-discuss lang last week). Ang pinaka naging solution ko dito is yung pag-practice/review ko in a timely and habitual manner - yung tipong pag alam ko na may seatwork or activity na ipapagawa bukas, maglalaan na ako ng oras today para ma-practice or ma-review ko yung mga demonstrations or topics na pinag-aralan namin last time, kasi malaki yung chance na gagamitin namin yung inaral namin in our last meeting para sa activity, demonstration, or discussion namin bukas. In short, always do a recap kapag di mo na maalala yung mga pinag-aralan ninyo.
      In terms of pagiging "mahina sa math," aaminin ko na medyo madalas din ako maligaw at maguluhan sa mga topics at problems na tinuturo dito - I wasn't really a fan of mathematics growing up (kaya din siguro BSIT kinuha ko at hindi BSCS kahit andoon yung GameDev 💀) and madalas din ako mag-give up or hayaan nalang yung mga nangyayare sa mga lectures kapag di ko na talaga ma-gets yung tinuturo saamin. So, ano ginawa ko or ano yung naging "solution" ko? Well, napaka-cliche niya pakinggan pero parati lang talaga ako nag "practice." Sinasagutan at sino-solve ko ulit ng mag-isa yung mga examples and problems na pinakita saamin nung prof namin sa mga lectures or slides niya at hinahanap/pinapanood ko sa Google at RUclips yung mga bagay na di ko ma-gets or sobrang nahihirapan ako. Kahit medyo tatanga-tanga ako sa math at kahit di ko talaga gusto ang math, I still put in the work and the effort para mag-aral at mag-practice para kayanin ko siya - kasi kahit mag-complain or i-gaslight mo sarili mo dyan, wala ka lang din mararating dyan.
      You having an experience with AndroidIDE is really beneficial and positive kahit palagi ka lang kumukuha ng source codes galing sa ibang developers, that's a good start in my own opinion - not only na medyo gets mo na yung environment and structure sa programming (and may onting background ka na rin), you probably also developed some kind of interest (and hopefully "passion") sa pagco-code kasi that's also a very essential element sa pagiging isang BSIT student (pero hindi rin naman ito yung be-all and end-all mo per se as a BSIT student).
      Also, friendly advice lang na wag ka masyadong mag-consume ng content sa FB regarding BSIT lalo na sa mga pages at sa mga comment section kasi madalas na toxic, ignorant, at uninformed yung mga opinions doon based on my observations lang. Isa talagang pitfall yang mga pages at comments na yan sa FB for incoming BSIT students kasi nadi-discourage, natatakot, at nao-overwhelm sila sa mga nakikita nila doon, not knowing na those are really uneducated opinions and out of context ideas. I'm not saying na avoid it completely nor lahat ng mga makikita mo sa Facebook ay negative na - I'm just saying that most of them are and hopefully you take those posts with a grain of salt.
      Apologies kung napahaba nanaman tong mga input and rants ko pero I seriously hope for the best sa college journey mo. I really like your attitude going into this and all I can say is that hopefully i-keep up mo yan and develop it even further - I know it sucks na hindi mo nakuha yung dream course mo (and I can't dispute that feeling kasi valid yan) pero wag mo rin siyang gamitin as an excuse to not try or even give your best sa BSIT program. Sana nakatulong yung perspective ko towards your problems at the very least - good luck! :-D

    • @ralphkylelabaguis

      I can’t really specify nor recommend a particular laptop model kasi hindi ako familiar sa mga availability at stocks ng mga laptop natin dito sa Pilipinas, pero I can provide you with some specifications na pwede mong gamitin as a basis sa paghahanap mo ng laptop:
      • CPU: Intel i5 Processors or AMD Ryzen 5 Series
      • RAM: 8 GB (though I highly recommend na magdagdag ka pa ng another 8 GB of RAM sa laptop mo kapag may budget ka na para maging 16 GB in total ang memory mo - nowadays kasi, hindi na sapat yung 8 GB of memory at mabilis na siyang makain ng mga applications ngayon)
      • Storage: 500 GB (preferably SSD pero an HDD will also do)
      • GPU: NVIDIA or AMD (pero optional lang toh at hindi naman required na may dedicated graphics card yung laptop mo - okay lang kahit integrated graphics card lang ang meron sa laptop mo since programming lang naman ang focus natin)
      • Display: 1920x1080 60Hz
      • Others: Preferably with an Ethernet port (for networking) and HDMI port (for presenting or extending display)
      Sana makatulong itong mga specifications na prinovide ko and I’m very happy to hear na marami kang natutunan at nakuhang information sa video na toh - I hope na makahanap ka ng affordable laptop that will suit your needs, good luck!

    hi, bro. Ngayon ko lang napanood video mo and I really like it. I have a question lang.
    1. As an incoming BSIT student na walang background at all (HUMSS STUDENT KASI). Ano tips mo po? Mamamatay ba ako dyan😂
    2. Necessary po ba talaga na ma master or matutunan yung mga subjects sa first sem para maka catch up sa Second sem? Or okay lang na hindi talaga nagegets yung first sem kasi makakacatch up parin (Sa second sem kasi ako mag stastart dahil READS scholar po ako at sa second batch ako na assign.)
    Your response would be much appreciated po❤❤❤

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  4 месяца назад +1

      1.1. First of all, hindi ka mamamatay (I think).
      1.2. And second of all, wag kang mag-alala na galing ka sa HUMSS; may mga ka-block ako na galing sa mga iba't ibang strands nung SHS nila, pero believe it or not, it didn't become a big hindrance sa pagiging isang BSIT student nila.
      1.3. Make sure na makakapag-practice ka ng programming at ng networking using Cisco Packet Tracer (if ever na bigyan kayo ng access ng university ninyo) in your free time; napakahalaga na maging consistent at accustomed tayo sa dalawang toh especially when we are just starting out.
      1.4. Please do familiarize yourself din sa mga numbering systems (Binary, Octal, Hexadecimal) kasi kahit ako nalito sa mga concepts na toh nung una ko silang na-encounter; be knowledgeable kung paano sila i-add, subtract, multiply, divide, and most importantly, kung paano sila i-convert to one another.
      1.5. Try to recall some of your basic algebraic procedures, patterns, steps, or skills kumbaga; it's very crucial na hindi mo makalimutan yung mga bagay na ginagawa sa algebra kasi gagamitin niyo yan sa Discrete Structures ninyo.
      1.6. And lastly, know na hindi purkit BSIT yung tinake mo, puro programming lang ang magiging focus ninyo; as I said a while ago, merong networking dito sa BSIT, meron ding computer architecture course wherein pag-aaralan ninyo kung paano gumagana ang mga computers on a design and logical level, and then syempre meron ding mga minors na nagiging demanding din sainyo from time to time.
      2. Kung ako talaga tatanungin, oo, it's very necessary and important na ma-gets mo talaga yung mga majors mo nung first sem eh, kasi doon din nagbu-build or nagbabase yung mga subsequent subjects (courses) ninyo sa BSIT - pero it's not "the end of the world" naman per se kung sa second semester ka magsisimula, marami ka nga lang catching up and reviewing na gagawin para makabalik ka sa optimal track ng pag-aaral mo.
      I hope na makatulong toh (at the very least) sa circumstances mo and I'm glad that you liked the content of this video - sana maka-catch up ka sa second semester ninyo, and eventually, maging okay din yung journey mo dito sa BSIT for the upcoming years! :-)

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад

      To be honest, I myself have yet to delve that much deep in the C++ programming language mainly due to the fact that most of the topics, endeavors, and tasks that are given to us revolves around Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and Assembly Language - we only did introductory lectures (which are quite basic and shallow) about C++ as mentioned in the video. However, I do think that C++ is really not that hard once you get experienced and familiarized with its fundamentals just like with any other programming languages.
      In accordance with that idea (and as for my tips in C++ as well), I highly advice that you learn its fundamentals first until such time that you can be comfortable in writing simple code and logic just like how you would do in easier programming languages like Java. Also, after learning the fundamentals, make sure to allot time and do some self-studying about Pointers and Memory Allocation in C++ because those are the two concepts that might confuse or discourage you from learning C++ if you came from an easier programming language like Java or Python. Finally, never lose heart if you feel like the topics and concepts that are being discussed to you in your C++ course doesn't make that much sense nor does it click with you - go back to that concept that you didn't understand, review and pinpoint the things that makes the topic confusing and/or complex, then do the necessary readings, studying, and research about the said concepts until such time that you understand the purpose for that idea/concept and how you can do or apply it practically in actual code or problem.
      Again, I'm not experienced nor familiar enough with the C++ programming language but I do hope that these tips that I gathered from my personal experiences and observations over the course of me learning C++ would help you in your own journey of exploring and learning this programming language.

    Hello,
    Are there night classes available for IT courses for working students?
    How many units should I take per semester?
    I am a freshman IT student incoming this year I hope you read this comment thank you 😊

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  Год назад +3

      Hi! As far as I know, I don't think na may night classes na available saamin - mostly ang pinaka-early classes namin sa UST starts at 7am and ang pinaka-late na classes namin ay hanggang 8pm lang.
      I highly encourage you na magtanong or mag-undergo ng academic advising sa university na papasukan mo to see if you can work something out regarding your schedule as a working student (maybe they could offer you evening classes).
      With regards sa tanong mo about units, I'm not that knowledgeable nor the best person para sagutin yan pero... I suggest taking up the full units in the semester kung feeling mo kaya mo naman i-balance yung daily life demands mo and your academic studies.
      However, kung feeling mo busy ka talaga and/or feeling mo mahihirapan ka as a working student, I suggest (again) talking to an academic advisor para makaisip kayo ng appropriate units for you to take based on your circumstances.
      Hindi ko sure kung nasagot ko yung tanong mo but I hope this gives you an idea at the very least!

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад

      In my case (or in my university), hindi naman kami required na bumili ng mga books about programming - yung mga lectures and presentations na tinuro at pinakita saamin nung mga prof namin ay summarized na (including the concepts and examples), and all of which ay nanggaling lang din sa isang book na pinagbasehan nung course facilitator namin or even yung mismong course coordinator ng department namin for that course/s - you may opt to buy a copy of that book (kung dinisclose nung prof ninyo yung pangalan nung book na yon) but it's not a requirement.
      It's entirely your choice or preference kung bibili ka pa ng mga books about the various programming languages that you will encounter, but most often than not, summarized and condensed information na yung ipapakita o ituturo sainyo ng mga prof ninyo in a form of PowerPoint slides and/or PDFs (hence, online materials na sila and not physical copies of a book + it's likely na included na yung mga yon sa tuition fee na binayaran mo).

      Kung ako tatanungin, okay lang naman kasi halos ~80% ng mga ka-block ko walang background sa coding nung nagsimula kami and they're doing just fine ngayong sophomore year namin - though aaminin ko na may learning curve talaga once you enter BSIT or BSCS pero that's also the same reason kung bakit puro basics at fundamentals muna yung tinuturo sa first year, para regardless kung may background ka man o wala, by the end of the year matututo ka at magkakaroon ka ng experience sa coding.

    Hello, I'm an incoming 1st year po. I want to advance study, but I don't know where to start or what I should learn first. I ask some of the students po sa school na papasukan ko, mga incoming 2nd year na po sila, and ang sabi po sakin ang programming language raw po na gagamitin is Java, saka sabi po pwede rin gumamitkami ng Python. I already browsed on RUclips, po, but wala po akong makita na parang exact po sa hinahanap ko, any advice po to where should I start??

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад

      Hi, I suggest na panoorin mo yung Java tutorial ni Bro Code na may title na "Java Full Course for free ☕" sa RUclips - doon ako nag-advance study bago ako mag-first year noon and I think straightforward, relevant, at madali naman maintindihan yung mga programming concepts na tinuro niya. Same thing with Python, I suggest na panoorin mo din yung tutorial niya na may title na "Python Full Course for free 🐍" since covered din niya yung mga fundamentals nung programming language na yon.
      And since advance study ang pinag-uusapan natin, it's not realistic na aralin mo lahat ng concepts doon at tapusin mo yung dalawang tutorials niyang 12 hours long, so bibigyan nalang kita ng mga pointers or key concepts na sure akong makakatulong sayo sa first year mo: [1] Variables [2] If Statements [3] Switches [4] Loops [5] Expressions [6] Logical Operators [7] Arrays [8] Methods [9] Objects (OOP) [10] Constructors [11] Inheritance [12] Encapsulation [13] Interface [14] Polymorphism [15] tapos yung mga topics na related sa GUI (I think #49 to #65 yon sa timestamps nung video ni Bro Code sa Java).
      For Python, pwede mo ring gamiting pointers yung [1] to [8] na binanggit ko for Java since sila parin naman yung mga fundamentals ng isang programming language - ang biggest difference lang talaga sa mga programming languages is yung syntax nila; the fundamentals and other concepts remains the same.
      Though kung may extra time ka naman, feel free na pag-aralan mo yung iba pang mga concepts na cinover ni Bro Code in both of his Java and Python tutorials kasi makakatulong din talaga sila sayo, it's just that, mga fundamentals lang yung rinecommend ko sayo para di ka ma-overwhelm.
      Friendly reminder lang din na hindi puro programming ang gagawin sa first year ng BSIT - you still have to acknowledge na meron parin kayong mga courses about Introduction to Computing, IT Fundamentals, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Math in the Modern World, and Discrete Structures.
      If you want to, pwede mong panoorin yung mga tutorials ni Organic Chemistry Tutor about sa Number Systems sa RUclips para sa Introduction to Computing course ninyo - though it depends parin sayo since ang nakuha kong idea sa comment mo is advice/recommendations only about programming.
      Not sure kung nakatulong ako or kung mas lalo ka pang naguluhan sa advance study plan mo but I hope na makatulong yung RUclips channel na rinecommend ko at yung mga pointers na binanggit ko para sa programming courses mo in Java and Python - you're on a great track kasi you're choosing to do advance studying so respect and kudos for that, good luck sa incoming first year mo sa BSIT! :-D

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  2 месяца назад +1

      Oo, pwede kang kumuha ng BSIT program sa college kahit wala kang experience sa paggamit ng mga computer, pero kakailanganin mong mag-self-study at mag-practice regularly sa paggamit ng isang computer para makapag-catch up ka or para makasabay ka sa mga ginagawa dito sa BSIT - expected na kasi ng maraming professors sa college na alam niyo na kung paano mag-computer, and very essential din kasi yung technical skills natin in using a computer pagdating sa mga ginagawa natin sa field ng IT.
      And oo, pwede ka rin kumuha ng BSIT program kahit hindi ka masyadong matalino - parati kong sinasabi sa mga comments na katulad nito na mas-importante parin talaga yung pagiging masipag mo, yung pagbibigay mo ng effort, at yung pagiging consistent mo sa college program na toh kahit maka-encounter ka ng obstacles, struggles, or setbacks - willing ka parin na mag-improve at magkaroon ng confidence sa sarili mo na kakayanin mo ito hanggang grumaduate ka.
      Kaya goods yan na willing ka matuto at mag-self study, kasi yan parin talaga yung magdadala sayo ng malayo kumpara sa kapag puro talino lang ang meron sayo. Walang batas sa Pilipinas nor rule sa mga student handbooks na bawal kang kumuha ng BSIT program sa college kapag hindi ka marunong mag-computer or kapag hindi ka matalino - pero kailangan mo parin mag-reflect sa sarili mo kung gusto mo ba talaga tong college program na toh at kung kakayanin mo siya after assessing your own character, attitude, and skills.
      Alam kong hindi pa ako isang BSIT graduate pero sa tingin ko hindi ibigsabihin na graduate ka na ng BSIT program sa college ay madali ka nang makakahanap ng trabaho - I think marami paring competition sa paghahanap ng trabaho especially for fresh graduates, kasi isipin mo kung gaano kadaming graduates din yung naga-apply for job positions, and I also think na kakailanganin mo parin ng diskarte, skills, and reputation kapag maga-apply sa isang trabaho na related sa IT field (which also goes for most jobs na hindi naman din related sa IT).
      Sana nakatulong itong input ko in deciding kung itutuloy mo pa yung pagkuha mo ng BSIT program sa college at the very least - I'm hoping for the best sa mga magiging decisions mo, good luck! :-)

      I don't know how I got your respect pero okay lang kahit hindi mo na ako tawaging kuya, and to be honest, hindi ko rin sure kung magaling ako sa English HAHHAHA
      Kung iisipin ko kung paano ko na-achieve yung current level of proficiency ko sa English, I'd say na it's mostly about experience talaga eh - simula nung bata pa kasi ako, lagi ko nang ginagamit yung lingguwahe ng English dahil sa mga napapanood at mga linalaro ko, kasi, I've been a huge "gamer" growing up, so kailangan English parati ginagamit ko para makipag-usap sa ibang players internationally and active din ako noon sa content creation, forums, and communities which are likewise made up of international viewers, users, and players; kaya there was never a shortage of practice for me and onti-onti din akong na-acclimated or nasanay sa ganong environment and norms, or kumbaga, nasanay akong makipag-usap sa iba just like how a North American individual would.
      Alam kong hindi nasagot nung paragraph sa taas yung tanong mo pero kinailangan kong i-include yan para maintindihan mo na wala akong tips nor strategies na inaral o ginawa para ma-achieve yung current English proficiency ko.
      But if I have to give any tips at all, I'd definitely start by recommending na mag-practice ka araw-araw ng intentionally at hindi mindlessly - intentional practice yon kapag ginagamit mo ang English in a purposeful way or in a productive way (parang ginagawa mo siyang hobby kumbaga), tapos mindless practice naman yon kapag basa ka ng basa ng mga kung ano-anong English content sa Internet o kaya nood ka lang ng nood ng mga English tutorials sa RUclips just to practice - which is sobrang nakakabagot, aminin na natin. I'm not saying na masamang mag-practice sa mga content and videos na makikita mo sa Internet, it's still important parin, pero wag lang puro ganon ang gawin mo - instead, pwede ka namang magsalita ng English sa isipan mo or sa kwarto mo about sa mga naiisip mong mga bagay-bagay at sa mga bagay na gusto mong ikwento or pag-usapan sa kaibigan mo o sa ibang mga tao (kung iisipin mo, mas practical toh pakinggan at hindi siya ganon ka-boring).
      Still to this day, hindi parin ako natitigil sa pagpa-practice ko ng English - lagi akong nagre-rehearse at nagpa-practice kapag may reports kami, may endeavor, or projects ako sa university. Also, hanggang ngayon, 90% ng mga videos na pinapanood ko at mga educational materials na ginagamit ko ay English parin. Finally, I keep a diary (or more like notes for self-reflection) wherein halos puro English yung mga sinusulat ko doon. Dahil sa lahat ng toh, covered yung speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills ko in practicing my proficiency in English.
      I don't know kung bakit naging hindrance yung English skills mo which caused you to stop in your second semester sa Mechanical Engineering, pero kung may mga technical terms kang hindi maintindihan, always search them in Google kasi malaki yung chance na may mas-simplified explanation doon - ganon din sa mga words na malalalim, always search their definition in Google. Kung nahihirapan ka naman sa mga concepts, try mo muna silang intindihin tapos i-summarize mo sila sa isipan mo in the simplest explanation using the Filipino/Tagalog language.
      Not sure kung nasagot ng lahat ng mga pinaglalagay o pinagsasabi ko dito yung question/problem mo, but I hope na at the very least, naging helpful yung "intentional practicing" na nabanggit ko as a basis for the tips and strategies na mahahanap at magagamit mo.

      I can't blame you for feeling left behind kasi tingin ko logical lang to feel that way considering your circumstances, pero you said it best talaga na kailangan mo paring mag-try and magbigay ng effort regardless of what you feel or think as of the moment - kasi believe it or not, ikaw lang din talaga ang makakatulong sa sarili mo in getting out of that rut or situation. Though ngayon ko lang din nalaman na may challenge or obstacle rin pala na nagpro-prohibit sayo na makagawa ng much-needed progress in both of your English learning endeavors and in your overall academic pursuit which is prioritizing video games. It's not bad to play video games from time to time, pero nakakasama na yung habit na yan once you start prioritizing it over your other meaningful priorities and endeavors (which I know fully well na aware ka rin dito) - so maybe, baka pwede kang mag-allot ng time for your studying within the day, try mong isingit yan sa schedule mo, and it's also better kung may specific time and/or duration ka din in playing video games. I like your spirit and mindset, laban lang and be firm kasi di ka pa talo unless mag-give up ka, you've got this - and likewise, godspeed sa college journey natin! :-D

      Ewan ko kung tama yung pagkakaintindi ko, pero sino yang nagsabing STEM dapat para makapag-BSIT huh? Banggitin mo kung sino nang magkaalaman kami (pero kung olats ako dyan, wag nalang pala).
      On a serious note, di naman kailangan na STEM kunin mo para lang makapag-BSIT ka - walang ganong rule or restriction, kahit anong strand ka pa, mapa-ABM, GAS, or HUMSS ka pa, pwede kang mag-take ng BSIT sa college. Sa totoo lang, STEM graduate ako, pero halos wala akong nagamit na mga skills or knowledge from my SHS years nung umapak na ako sa BSIT - I think, yung subjects na Precalculus at Statistics and Probability lang ata yung naging relevant sa college years ko up to this day. Pero other than that, parang I started from the ground up ulit nung dumating yung freshmen year ko - andaming bagong concepts and topics tapos nag-self-study din ako.
      Eto ang lagi kong sinasabi at ang personal take ko parati: hindi gaanong relevant nor malaki yung impact nung strand na kinuha mo nung SHS when taking up BSIT in college - sure, baka may onting advantage ka kung STEM, ICT, or any other BSIT-related strand yung kinuha mo, pero that's probably just for the first year or freshmen year lang. Ang biggest factor parin talaga para maging stable ka sa BSIT journey mo in college-regardless of your strand in SHS-is yung pagiging open mo in learning new topics and new skills in the IT field at sa pagiging willing mo to stick to this course come hell or high water - meaning, you have the passion and the drive to learn, to improve, and to be interested sa lahat ng mga ginagawa sa BSIT.
      If you have a passion for computers, if you're willing to have an open mind, if you're willing to learn and to strive in BSIT, I don't see any reason para maging hadlang yung strand mong HUMSS - and if that's not enough, meron akong mga naging ka-blockmates na HUMSS din ang kinuha nila, and they're doing just fine sa BSIT.
      Pero ayon, personal opinion ko lang yan, take it how you want it, and if some of the things that I've mentioned checks out, I think you're in the good naman - whatever it may be, I hope for the best sa SHS years mo and good luck if ever na BSIT parin yung dream course mo in the near future! :-)

      Hello! Ano specs ng laptop mo?
      Generally, hindi naman masyadong taxing (o mabigat) ang programming pagdating sa performance kaya hindi mo kailangan ng isang (sabihin natin) beefy or gaming laptop/computer para lang makapag-program.
      Though, infuriating at inconvenient siya sa productivity and efficiency mo as a student kung madalas maka-experience ng slowdowns, freezes at crashes yung computer mo.
      As for my recommendations, I highly suggest 16GB of RAM kasi mabilis talaga makain ang memory, especially when it comes to the applications we have nowadays; Intel i5 or i7 processors may do (preferably, newer generations ang piliin mo); a decent screen such as 1920x1080 60hz or better; and a good battery life.
      Bonus nalang kapag may Ethernet at HDMI ports yung laptop mo para maka-connect ka directly sa internet ng campus ninyo, makapag-networking and configuration ka in the future, at magamit mo yung HDMI port mo para maka-connect sa big screens or kung saan mang display for presentation purposes.

      Hello, and yes, okay lang na mag-pursue ng BSIT program sa college kahit HUMSS student ka - lagi kong sinasabi sa mga gantong comments na: para saakin, hindi masyadong mahalaga yung strand na kinuha mo nung SHS when taking BSIT in college. Yes, may slight advantage yung mga students na kumuha ng strand na medyo related sa BSIT (ICT for example) pero that's probably just for the first year only.
      Ang magdadala parin talaga sayo ng malayo, regardless of the strand you graduated from in SHS, is yung passion mo for computers and yung willingness mo to be open and to learn everything that the BSIT program has to offer. Additionally, it's also important na kaya mo din maging firm, confident, and resilient kahit maka-encounter ka ng mga obstacles, struggles, or even setbacks - di yung gina-gaslight mo yung sarili mo nor ginagamit mo yung strand mo in SHS as an excuse for an easy way out.
      But of course, these are just my opinion lang naman, but I still hope that my perspective helps towards sa mga doubts or curiosities mo in moving forward as a HUMSS graduate taking BSIT in college - good luck! :-)

      Hindi naman siguro yung mismong activity ang may problema, lalo na kung nakakagawa rin naman yung iba mong mga kaklase. But assuming na naka-download ng maayos yung programming language at IDE na ginagamit mo, most definitely may problema sa syntax at keywords na ginamit mo.

      I can't really say for certain kung ano yung mas magandang university in terms of quality of education and job opportunities kasi sa UST lang talaga ako may personal experience (kung BSIT college program ang pinag-uusapan natin) and hindi pa naman ako isang BSIT graduate - pero may mga narinig at nabasa ako dati na may mga CICS students na nag-transfer from UST to DLSU at mas nagustuhan daw nila yung education ng CS and IT programs doon kesa sa UST, though hindi ako sure kung totoo ba yung mga claims na yon or kung credible ba yung mga sources/opinions na yon.
      Pero kung hihingan mo ako ng input about UST, okay lang naman din yung quality of education ng BSIT college program nila dito sa UST - I think sapat naman yung mga IT fundamentals na naituturo sa freshmen and sophomore year; may specializations/majors din ang BSIT dito (once you're a 3rd year student na) if ever na mas gusto mong mag-focus sa Network and Security, Web and Mobile App Development, or Automation; and magkakaroon kayo ng mga capstone projects as well as practicum which would definitely cultivate your professional skills and experiences.
      Though, I advice you to do research muna sa Internet kung ano ba yung mga perspectives and takes ng mga students with regards to the universities that you have mentioned about the BSIT program, para kung sakaling may something kang malaman or magustuhan, mas malalaman mo kung anong university ang mas prefer at pipiliin mo.

    Hello I'm planning to shift from BSN to BSIT due to some reasons.. Is it ok to shift even though wala akong background experience sa IT?

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  6 месяцев назад +6

      I think need mo munang mag-reflect sa mga questions na toh before shifting to BSIT: Interested ka ba sa computers? Are you willing to learn about computers and its concepts? Topics are mostly comprised of Boolean Algebra, Data Communications and Networking, Programming Languages, and the likes - do you think you'll be just fine dealing with these main concepts after doing a quick skim/research about them?
      May mga kilala ako sa block ko na walang background experience sa IT (at sa mga concepts na nabanggit ko) pero they're somewhat just doing okay - sigurado din ako na maraming grumaduate ng BSIT even though they shifted from other colleges/programs that is unrelated to computers.
      In my opinion kasi, yung magiging main concern mo is if you're willing to learn and somewhat love BSIT (at yung mga courses/subjects na included dito), and if you're willing to stick, work, and see things through when things get tough.
      It's okay to shift to BSIT kahit wala kang background experience, pero hindi ko masasagot kung dapat bang mag-shift ka sa BSIT from BSN - kasi sa totoo lang, ikaw lang talaga yung best na makakasagot at makakapagdesisyon sa circumstances mo.
      Not sure kung nasagot ko ba yung tanong mo sa lahat ng mga pinagsasabi ko (sry sa mahabang reply 💀) but I hope these insights would help you clear up your mind and help you decide - good luck sa shifting plans or sa mga magiging decisions mo! :-)

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  2 месяца назад

      Dito sa UST, around 62k ang tuition fee for the first term and ganon din approximately sa second term (if we're talking about first year or freshmen year), pero I think nagkakaroon ng changes dito every year kaya hindi siya gaanong ka-consistent - though para naman sa ibang universities at colleges, hindi ako sure kung magkano yung tuition fee na ino-offer nila for the BSIT program kaya it's better if you would inquire on those universities yourself.

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi, hindi naman kailangan ng laptop palagi sa BSIT especially kung may mga computer laboratories naman yung campus ninyo, though aaminin ko na it is convenient to have one as a BSIT student - you can work on assignments whenever and wherever you want, pwede kang mag-practice ng programming in your own time and pace, and you don't have to worry about reinstalling or fixing applications unlike kapag nanghihiram/gumagamit ka ng computer sa laboratory, pero kung may assessment or seatwork man na ipapagawa sainyo, I'm sure na ipapagamit naman yung computer lab sainyo.
      Though, if I'm in your position, I'd rather save up the money nalang to buy a laptop instead of buying a tablet, kasi I don't see much of a purpose of owning one - sure, pwede kang mag-take down ng notes at gumawa ng mga designs and whatnot, but what about programming and other BSIT-related endeavors? Madalas na hindi Windows OS ang ginagamit ng mga tablet, hindi ka makakapag-install ng mga essential software dyan na pang-programming and the likes; pwede kang maghanap ng mga alternative applications pero it can't replace the standard or what we commonly use talaga sa mga desktops or laptops.
      This is just my opinion lang naman and it is based off of my personal observations, so take it with a grain of salt nalang - it is still your choice kung bibili ka pa ng tablet o hindi para sa course ng BSIT.

      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад

      Very subjective yang tanong mo kasi pwede kong sabihin na manageable naman yung BSIT para sakin pero pwedeng mahirap yung course na toh para sayo - ang masasabi ko lang, kung hindi ka willing matuto at maging open sa mga topics na ituturo sainyo dito sa BSIT at kung hindi ka willing na manatili sa course na toh after experiencing struggles, challenges, and setbacks (lalo na pag di ka rin willing mag-review at mag-catch up kapag may mga topics ka na hindi ma-gets o maintindihan) mahihirapan ka talaga sa buong college years mo sa BSIT. Pero kung naniniwala ka naman sa sarili mo na kakayanin mo ang BSIT hanggang graduation, kung willing ka na magtiyaga, at kung interesado ka talaga sa mga computers, tingin ko naman hindi magiging sobrang hirap itong course na toh para sayo.
      And no, hindi kayo tuturuan ng professor ninyo kung paano gumamit ng computer from the very basic - siguro mga installation and configuration lang ng mga software/applications ang ituturo sainyo if ever na hindi niyo pa alam kung paano yon gawin, pero other than that, hindi talaga ituturo yung literal na pago-operate ng computer mismo; ang trabaho lang ng mga prof ninyo ay ituro yung mga theoretical concepts and practical/hands-on exercises na related sa topic ninyo.

    Hello po! Incoming grade 12 student here. I have absolutely no background about coding as I took STEM as my strand in SHS so I'm conflicted whether to choose BSIT as my course in college. Do you think this course will still be survivable even if I don't even know the very basics?

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi! I also took up STEM as my strand in SHS and I didn't really have that much experience nor background in coding back then as well, however, I never thought of it as a hindrance and I would definitely say for sure that the BSIT program is "survivable" despite not knowing the very basics of coding in my own personal opinion, experiences, or observations. I also frequently mention in these types of comments that my block section was very diverse in terms of its SHS strand graduates - we literally had students who took up ABM, HUMSS, and GAS-HA in their SHS and they are still doing just fine as we speak. Furthermore, around 80% of my blockmates also didn't have any prior background in coding whatsoever and they did fairly well in my opinion. I firmly believe that the SHS strand that you graduated from and the prior knowledge/background that you have in coding are not the determining factor on whether or not you are going to pass or find success in the BSIT program. Rather, being open to learning everything that the BSIT program has to offer and having that firm, willing, and hardworking mindset is the key to your long-term sustainability in the BSIT program - sticking to it come hell or high water, despite setbacks, and regardless of how many challenges that you face moving forward.
      I can't say for certain whether or not you should choose BSIT as your program in college because you're the only one who could really answer that question at the very best - all I can say is that, even if you don't have any background nor experience in coding, as long as you put in the work and the effort in your freshmen year, you will end that school year having the sufficient skills that you will need in order to start and further your coding skills. There's a reason why everything that is taught in the first year of BSIT are only the fundamentals and the basics of programming. You must also keep in mind that not everything that you will be doing in the BSIT program is centered around programming - you have to also consider the networking courses as well as the computer architecture courses that you will be having, not to mention your minor courses (subjects) which could be more demanding than your major courses at times.
      Whatever the program that you might end up choosing in college, I wish you the best especially for the decisions that you will be making in your grade 12 school years :-)

      Sa sitwasyon mo, kaibigan mo ang mga computer shops na pinapayagan kang mag-download ng mga programming applications (para makapag hands-on ka) at computer laboratories na ipapagamit sainyo para makapag-practice ka, o kaya para makagawa ka ng activities sa university mo (kung meron man).
      Hindi ibigsabihin na kung minsan o halos hindi ka nakakagamit ng computer ay wala ka nang pagasa dito sa course ng Information Technology. Oo, napaka-convenient kung may sarili kang computer, pero hindi ito rason para mag-alala ka dito sa course natin.
      May mga guma-graduate ng BSCS at BSIT na wala silang sariling computer. May ibang nagco-code sa papel lang. In the end, focus ka lang sa pag-intindi ng mga concepts na tinuturo sainyo, at pag may chance ka, try mong gawin yung mga natutunan mo sa isang computer.
      P.S. May mga apps sa Google Play kung saan pwede kang makapag-code kahit sa cellphone lang - I highly suggest na mag-download ka ng mga ganon at magsimula ka nang mag-practice ng coding!

You don't have to be optimistic nor even idealistic about surviving your school year because of the mathematical courses that you'll be facing - you just need to have that small belief or trust in yourself that you're still going to try and give everything that you have and see for yourself whether or not you will pass in the end. If you really want to survive your mathematical courses, don't lose hope just yet, don't even think about giving up midway, and only create decisions when everything was fully said and done at the end of your school year.

      And for Discrete Mathematics, I highly recommend yung channel ni TrevTutor sa RUclips kasi very relevant yung mga content niya doon about sa Discrete Mathematics - he even has a playlist para sa mga topics na yon, so feel free to check it out.
      Then for some general knowledge about IT, panoorin mo yung mga "NETACAD IT Essentials" videos ni Grumpy_Grampy / JasonEJohnson31 sa RUclips which covers the entire IT Essentials 7.0 course ni Cisco sa Netacad - in summary, mga topics siya about sa hardware and software, like, general computer knowledge kumbaga.
      For sites naman, you can research about the various data structures (Stacks, Queues, and Linked Lists) sa website ng GeeksforGeeks - pwede mo rin hanapin doon yung mga topics about sa Trees, Heaps, Graphs, and the various algorithms that we have, such as Dijkstra’s Algorithm, Prim’s Algorithm, and Kruskal’s Algorithm.
      I'm sorry kung di ako makapag-recommend ng mga apps kasi wala talaga akong alam na pwedeng mai-recommend sayo na relevant nor useful sa pagpro-provide sayo ng overview about the BSIT program.
      I hope na makatulong itong mga channels and websites na binanggit ko in enlightening you about the BSIT program at kung sakaling mag-advance study/practice ka din for your first year - good luck and wishing you the best! :-)

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  2 месяца назад

      Yung mga tips na ibibigay ko sayo are generally the same tips that I give to the students na nanggaling lang din sa ibang strands (like STEM, HUMSS, and others) because I believe that these applies to all students regardless of their strand, and here are the following tips:
      1. It's important that you constantly review and practice the topics that you covered (or will be covering) sa mga programming at networking classes ninyo every week/meeting - this is also very important kapag magkakaroon kayo ng assessments (like laboratory activities, quizzes, and exams) kasi madali nating makalimutan yung mga topics na pinag-aralan natin lalo na kapag napakaraming courses yung inaasikaso natin in our freshmen year. This also serves as your way of clarifying the things that you didn't understand on your past lectures.
      2. If possible, sundan mo yung mga ginagawa ng professor mo during lecture and/or laboratory meetings, be it sa programming courses man, networking, or breadboarding classes - magandang nagha-hands on ka na habang nagtuturo yung prof ninyo kasi malalaman mo on the spot yung mga hindi mo maintindihan at pwede mo rin agad i-clarify yung mga bagay na yon sa prof mo on the spot as well.
      3. For math and logic courses, reviewing diligently, constant repetition, and solving of various sample problems is one of the keys to learning and/or surviving the said courses - especially kung katulad mo ako, wherein di ko agad ma-gets yung mga tinuturo sa isang meeting/discussion lang, kaya ako na yung nagi-initiative para mag-aral at reviewhin yung mga diniscuss last time ng mag-isa (self-studying kumbaga).
      4. Wag kang mag-focus lamang sa mga bagay na related sa programming kasi napakarami mo pang ibang courses na ita-take sa BSIT that doesn't make use of programming - believe it or not, yung mga Gen Eds or minor courses mo are sometimes more demanding than your major courses, especially kapag naka-depende yung mga pag-aaralan at gagawin ninyo sa prof ninyo (kaya lugi nalang talaga kapag very demanding and masyadong perfectionist yung prof na nakuha mo, which also goes for your major courses as well), and hindi lang naman programming ang ginagawa sa BSIT but also networking and doing computer architecture stuff such as breadboarding. Make sure lang to balance things out while also working on your weaknesses.
      5. Always show up sa mga meetings and klase ninyo, don't be tardy, and listen to your lectures even if it bores you to death - nasa university ka na kasi eh, might as well do what you're supposed to do in there; kapag di ka kasi pumasok, that's one topic worth (or possibly more) that you will be missing out in your quizzes and exams, malala pa kung may na-miss kang activity or even kapag na-mark ka as Failure Due to Absences dahil sa pagiging absent mo palagi.
      6. Last but certainly not the least, hardwork (at madalas diskarte) and focus generally trumps a lot of obstacles sa student life mo as a BSIT college freshman - maging open ka sa mga tinuturo sainyo dito sa BSIT, do necessary reviews and preparations kapag may hindi ka ma-gets, submit requirements that are satisfactorily enough (or beyond) at hindi late, and dapat merong kang firm na growth mindset kapag nakaranas ka ng mga setbacks, challenges, at failures, hindi yung magmumukmok or iga-gaslight mo lang yung sarili mo which won't do you any good nor will it produce anything positive or beneficial.
      I'm not sure kung nag-make sense yung mga tips na prinovide ko but I do hope at the very least na may magamit o mai-apply kang isa dyan sa journey mo in the BSIT program - I'm wishing you the best and you've got this!

      Of course! STEM graduate ako and I didn't really have that much experience sa mga ginagawa sa BSIT and I think manageable naman siya - marami rin akong mga ka-block na graduate ng mga non-BSIT-related strand (we're talking ABM and HUMSS) and they're also doing just fine.
      In my personal opinion, di gaanong relevant yung strand na kinuha mo nung SHS when taking BSIT in college - oo, may slight advantage ka (probably for the first year or freshmen year lang) kung yung kinuha mong strand is somewhat related sa IT, pero it all comes down sa willingness mo to stick sa course na toh at sa pagiging open mo in learning new topics and skills in BSIT; and I think your love for computers is great and will also play a crucial role sa BSIT journey mo!
      Advice ko lang na wag ka masyadong mag-overthink, di pa nagsisimula yung semester ninyo and you're already comparing yourself with others at nagdo-doubt ka na sa capabilities mo - kalma lang, you've got this, make the necessary preparations if anxious ka, and time will tell kung mistake ba talaga yung strand na kinuha mo o hinde.
      Trust your skills more and make sure to practice and review lang kapag may di ka ma-gets - wishing you the best sa college journey mo! :-D

    ask ko broo, if you're not an ICT student nung shs, may/anong bridging program po ba?

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  2 месяца назад +1

      I'm a STEM graduate and I've never heard of a "bridging program" nor did I take anything of that sort (before, during, or even after my SHS graduation) - pagtapos ko grumaduate ng SHS, literal na diretso na akong nag-apply or nag-enroll sa university ko which is UST sa Manila. Though baka may bridging programs na pinapatupad yung ibang universities or colleges at sadyang hindi ko lang sila na-encounter or naranasan so I'm not really sure.

    Boss applied ba yan sa lahat ng schools sa luzon? Meron lahat yan sa ibat ibang schools even sa baguio?

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  2 месяца назад

      Hindi garantisado na gantong-ganto din yung mga tinuturo o ginagawa sa ibang schools sa Luzon - tulad nung sinabi ko sa video, nagva-vary at naka-depende talaga siya sa mga universities na papasukan ninyo, at lahat ng mga binanggit ko sa video na toh ay mga personal experiences ko lang na nakabase sa University of Santo Tomas ng Manila.
      Hindi ko alam kung ano ibigsabihin mo sa "Meron lahat yan" pero I'm assuming na yung tanong mo is kung may BSIT program ba sa iba't-ibang universities sa Baguio? Kung yan yung tanong mo, ang masasabi ko lang ay di ako sure kasi hindi ako pamilyar sa mga universities nor curriculum sa Baguio - pero kung iisipin natin, panigurado na hindi lahat ng universities sa Baguio ay nago-offer ng BSIT program sa college kasi baka wala silang resources para sa mga computer lab o sa ganong klase ng pagtuturo (though tingin ko naman nago-offer ng BSIT program yung mga kilala o malalaking universities sa Baguio).
      In short, hindi pare-parehas yung mga universities sa Luzon pagdating sa BSIT college program at tingin ko hindi lahat ng universities sa Baguio ay nago-offer ng BSIT program sa college.

    anong specs ng laptop ngaun ang sakto sa mga sinabi mo mga programming na sakop ng IT papasok ung anak ko sa PUP kailangan na nya ng laptop na magamit

    • @ralphkylelabaguis
      @ralphkylelabaguis  3 месяца назад +2

      Para sakin po, sakto na yung ganitong specs sa laptop na gagamitin lang po for programming:
      • CPU: Intel i5 or i7 Processors
      • RAM: 16 GB (magpadagdag nalang po kayo ng another 8 GB of RAM kung yung laptop na nakita ninyo is only 8 GB)
      • Storage: 1 TB HDD (pwede na rin po kung 500 GB SSD ang mahahanap ninyo)
      • Display: 1920x1080 60hz
      • GPU: Kahit optional na po ito kasi hindi naman po masyadong importante toh when doing programming endeavors
      • Others: Preferably po na may Ethernet port yung laptop ninyo for networking at meron din pong HDMI port for presenting or extending display
      Kung may budget pa naman po kayo at may sinuggest na mas better specifications yung retailer/seller na nakausap ninyo, feel free po to make the adjustments or improvements sa specs ng laptop na bibilhin ninyo.
