- DISCLAIMER: I do not claim to actually know what I'm doing when it comes to radio communications, and thus I may not be able to answer any questions you may post. At the time I was just a college kid who taught himself the basics of radio communications and how repair pagers and radios so that our EMS squad would function on a 24 hour basis.
This is a brief video I made for Muhlenberg College EMS's closed executive board. I was the technology officer at the time and eventually helped to spearhead a total revamp of our extremely out of date radio system, which included the purchase of twelve XPR 3300s.
I own the very same model. They are fantastic little radios. The Talk Permit Tone (TPT) can be programmed via the CPS. I have mine set to only chirp when I am on a digital frequency ("Digital Only"). Hope you guys find what you're looking to invest in.
Amazon uses these in their warehouse facilities. Nuff said.
Hi there. I believe I am the one that posted a rather awful comment a few years ago. I would first like to apologize I didn't have the knowledge I do now about radios and whatever I wrote back then was probably not true. This is a great video and the radio is an awesome one. Once again I am sorry and I hope nothing I said offended you or anyone here.
Hi Dave, all is forgiven. Thanks for apologizing, it's rare these days for someone to do that especially online where it can be so easy to write words and hide behind our screens. I don't claim to be a radio expert myself but am glad this was helpful!
I may just be a random person on the internet and you dont have to believe me but I will own up to my mistake. Did you ever sell this radio? And did you get new ones for your department/company?
@@Dave-ji1hv I really respect that. Integrity is rare!! Yes I sold the radio and ended up making 20 bucks or so on it, and we did end up getting a brand new radio system for our squad. It was a big deal for a small, all volunteer and student run EMS squad. I'm no longer on that squad because I graduated but from what I hear from people still there the new XPR radios have had zero problems, a huge improvement vs. the old early 2000's era HT750s we had.
@@nathanbrown8487 so this was for a college EMS squad? That's awesome and it sounds like you and your team are deserving of new radios. Dont get me wrong the ht750 are awesome but outdated. XPR3500 was a great choice
@@Dave-ji1hv yes it was. The new system was definitely a much-needed improvement!
whats the real life range test for suburbs?
I have recently purchased 2 XPR 3300's and 1 XPR 3500 for my business and I am looking to learn more about the features and how to program them. Does any have a good practical costless suggestion or link to a video on these radios and there features?
Michael Demarisjr Did you ever get your questions answered if not I can help you
Vince Talancon hello! I so need your help ASAP!!
Do u know how to get get it unlock
how can I reset the Motorola 3500 to factory setting????
I’m trying to figure out the same. Lmk if you find a solution. I bought mine on ebay and I don’t know how to reset
Is it possible to listen to two Chanels on the same one Chanel?
This radio is VHF compatible!
for this one can you scan 1 channel on 1 zone and scan another channel from a different zone
Spencer Bruno yes
I got that same radio right here in front of me and I need a charger and cable wire
How do you program?
What is the cost of XPR 3500 new?
nathan.. Dave comments he said I look over a few.. and some are not very accurate and he jumping to conclusions on info he doesn't have.. the xpr 3500. if u have the codes and permission to do so. them radio can do anything there capable of doing with in the means of the radio. I have xpr 3500. and I can set off my tones for my pager on our dispatch channel. every radio can get permission to transmit and get lock out from transmitting. what ever ur dispatch is doing just work with that.
can you set it up to listen to all channels at one time
+saucermonkey320 do you mean scan mode? It has scan mode, which allows it to listen to all channels simultaneously and transmit the one that has activity on it. You can also give certain channels priority so that when there is activity on those channels it automatically transmits it first.
+Nathan Brown i have no idea how to set that up. can you a leo out
+saucermonkey320 Me neither; maybe you should ask +Dave, the person who commented above. He seems to know everything!
How much did it cost
Apex 8000 or better
If you can't use it, I would like to buy it.
+Roman Robles currently I am trying to return it to the seller, with no success. Sketchy seller; he's going to get a horrible review on the transaction. If I decide to sell it myself, I would be open to negotiations.
Can you tell me what you would want for it, please? Also, could you send a picture of the tags under the battery compartment? Thanks!
+Roman Robles I would accept $400. The radio is in fantastic condition (as you can see) and it is obviously a UHF radio. However, I will warn you in advance that the cord included with the charger is not the right one. The seller I bought this from screwed me over in that way as well. A new replacement cord can be found on eBay for around three bucks. Luckily, the charging base that was included is the correct one (which is the most important piece). I'm not sure how I could get you a picture of the battery compartment tags--maybe you could add me on Google+?
+Nathan Brown I'm trying to add you now.
Is it only 16 channel
Yes, this one is only 16 channel. Great as a basic radio but not a good option for a portable command radio IMO
Nathan Brown
Ok thanks is it able to different zones
@@Jacob-mm8xq I don't totally recall, but to my memory I don't think it did have zones. I made this video a while back and I certainly don't claim to be a radio expert at all. Sorry I can't be more helpful! Best of luck.
Nathan Brown
Oh ok thanks
@@Jacob-mm8xq It is a 128 channel radio and it can have 16 channels per zone. So 8 zones with 16 channels in them. This is all programmable and customizable within the CPS.
can you set it up to listen to all channels at one time
