My favourite chassis from the Tomy lineup. handles great, works well with children too, really forgiving characteristics. Since my all of my Turbos are from the 90's, they're all well used. Every car behaves differently, and is in various states of wear. Even brand new cars can have their differences though. I'm disappointed spare parts are almost non-existent now, and hacking the chassis to use an SRT tune-up kit just isn't something I'm interested in.
I got some Viper pickup shoes on the way, and found a local store stocking pinion gears (which are probably the weakest link), front axles/wheels, and guide pins, but I can't get a full set of spares anywhere except ebay for a stupid price + stupid shipping costs (I live in New Zealand, nice place to be but massively inconvenient).
I guess I just love my Turbos because that's what I spent hours driving around the floor from about the age of 4 years old.

Replacement parts are readily available. Original front tires and rear axle retainer clips (most don't know those even exist) are the only parts that are kind of hard to find.

@@jeffnorbert1871 Here in New Zealand, I believe there is no longer a supplier of Tomy/AFX. Maintaning these things has become an expensive nightmare.

Do you know if you can put better magnets in the turbos so they stick to the track better?
If so, what type and where would you buy them, if you know.
    Cheers Champ

Yes. Any slot car raceway and multiple online sources. Ebay the most obvious.

Notice how quickly the SRT slows down compared to the Turbo. Big difference in the traction magnets. Ceramic versus Neodymium in the SRT.

Always break in a brand new chassis at low voltage for at least 15 minutes. Motor brushes need to wear and "seat" before they pass full current. 3 volts is great but even 9 is much better than full voltage.

The standard Tomy Turbo and SRT use different magnets. I've found the SRT to be quicker, but the Turbo is more fun to drive because you can drive the car on the knife edge and it requires more input from the controller. The SRT is one of these chassis that sticks like glue like the Mega G, which isn't much fun for me. Have you checked out the Tomy Panoz car? It takes a Tomy Turbo Indy chassis. It's similar to the Aurora 512 Ferrari, but slightly bigger. Check it out on ebay.

I have a question for you: Why is it that you can have two identical chassis (Tomy Turbo's, SRT's, vintage Aurora G+ or whatever) but one will run much better than the other? To put it into NASCAR terms, one chassis feels "free" (which I like), while the other feels "tight." Same chassis, same tires, same pickup shoes, etc. You ever experience that? Thanks.

+rodentcafeteria not all chassis are made the same with mass production it hard to make them all the same that's why u have car that run different

I was going to say. Wait until the new Dash chasis is released. I have an older chasis and it rums decent

I have tomy cars but I use the rims on my highly modified magnatraction cars.Tomy cars are so easy to control it's boring.I compare them to the prototype cars at Le Mans vs the Gt cars, the best racing is in the Gt class. The LMP cars are fast but boring.
