Love that feeling of putting together a perfectly good bike from a bunch of parts that were just piled in the bin. Something that would otherwise go to the landfill can now bring someone miles of smiles.
Great build. I had a 1999 Schwinn Moab 1 and sadly left it in Vancouver when I moved away. The frame was a work of art. I did bring back a Brodie Unibomber singlespeed though.
I bought a Schwinn Homegrown on eBay like three years ago. It was just a little small for me so I fixed it up and gave it away to a guy at work who had to walk a mile to the bus stop. He then rode the bike and locked it up behind a building that he got permission.
That bike was actually my dream bike in the late 1990's.
Tip of the cap to you. Putting that good Karma out there.
What size u looking for?
Pass it forward. Respect!
LX is completely satifiying and works well, even if it's dirty. Frame with no decals and the Marzocchi, yeah, it's a cool built with a nice look.
Amazing build, I like the black LX,one of the nicest Groupsets.
Very nice build!!! 😊👍👍👍 Very nice choice on the fork! Love those old Marzocchi forks. 🤍 Btw, my friend have that Scwhinn Moab cromo, in grey/black color, he put an old RST High5 dual crown fork on it, he make it a hardtail downhill... Thats way back year 2007...😎
Stoked on this one, i was 14, i talked my mom into a steel moab from 98, and been mtn biking ever since.
I love my parts bikes! I have one of my Single Speed bikes I call SScrapy, it was all parts from bikes others threw away and it does great! I really hope one day you find a tandem MTB to rebuild!
The parts bin builds always ride
better than the all new ones 😂
Nice build, I just finished a schwinn mesa build myself about 2 months ago. Converted it to a 1x drivetrain, and wider bars, and slightly shorter stem, rode beautifully.
That looks OG sick.
In the late 90' would have given my left n...t and go armstrong to have something like this.
It's a good idea to install those new Handle bar grips. It really brings out the bike color scheme much more better. Keep up with the great work ethic. Here's a quick question. Isn't it best to use all the same brands of Bike parts and why it's where your not able to mixed up the parts when it comes working on a rebuild of a used Bike.
How do your collected bicycles differ from eachother referring Ride-quality - which ones do you appreciate and what for...?
Awesome:)
Nice build, I love it when the color of the frame matches the fork and also the other parts 😊
Bicycles rule!
I'm always stunned by the beauty of Colorado landscapes...
Nice built and awesome views of the landscape - just beautiful.
A beautiful bike !
I must admit that the LX is my favorite groupset, because it is (was) the fuzzy border between mid-range and high-end. I've had it on many of my bikes, and it has always worked for me.
The choice of the Marzocchi Bomber fork seems to me to be the most appropriate... for aesthetics. (I don't get into the discussion of whether the RS is lighter than the Marzocchi.)
Bravo !
Shimano XT parallax hubs and what might be Mavic 517 SUP wheels🤘🤘
You should have gone with 7000 series aluminum Thomson Elite post and stem🤘🤘😁
Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, I used hairspray to keep grips in place; it worked really good🤘🤘
Just had the same discussion with myself regarding putting LX/XT on a recent build. It ended up with changing the brakes also to LX and high possibility of hub swap as well.
oh god , i love the 90's Schwinns. Actually the early 90s ones. So beautiful and beautiful steel-frames. A friend had one in early 90s, tange prestige I think, the XT thumbShifters, no suspension fork yet which increases the weight, but still - the nicest and LIGHTEST MTB I've ever ridden. Cheers from a loong time viewer in Berlin Germany.
pretty flat here and around Berlin, but some MTB spots are actually existing and enjoyable 😀 Very very jealous of your Utah trails, i think it's Utah 🙂
New cable for rear brake, rear brake cable on front brake 😊 and lots of tryflow in the housing 🎉
Had a moab disc orange/white ,wish I still had it , those were great bikes in there day ,actually looked up the music too , ludlow she has a nice voice
I found an 2001 moab on a chuck out pile, on the side of the road. It didn't have wheels, but it did have LX shifters, LX front derailleur, LX cranks and XTR rear derailleur, with avoid v-brakes. Nice little find!
Great Video. I don't think ocd acd or whatever. I think "normal" people like us like groups, or in this case... grouppo? I can certainly relate and agree. Thank YOU for posting.
I owned Schwinn Moab 3 steel frame red colour frame with Shimano Alivio parts and Marzocchi fork. That was in 1997. in Croatia!I was the king of the road lol😅 but I loved that bike
I had a 1999 Moab back in the day with the full 8 speed LX group with the black hubs and a Manitou SX-Ti fork. Lots of good memories with that bike.
Speaking of OCD...that gold decal popping off the front hub (12:25)? Yeah, that would set me off sumthin fierce! 😆
Seriously? A front derailleur in today's off road world?
The
"Work horse" XT🤘🤘
So good to watch these re-build vids; thanks a lot. I like the end when you ride the bike
The last great!!
👏👏👏😉😉😉
Nothing wrong with that! Good choice with the Marzocchi fork 👌🏻
Massa
I had I think a Moab 3 in the 1990's.
So much nostalgia! I raced on a Moab in the late 90’s in Boise. I had XT group.
Ive owned a few Moabs over the years, they are great bikes.
Yep. Still riding my Moab
Nice build! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah it is a Schwinn Moab but you took off the name stickers! How could you?
lol I didn’t take them off. Someone prior to it being donated to the bicycle collective took them off.
@@oldshovel ok thanks 👍
Excellent choice on the Bomber. 🔥
A nice overall build.
It deserves new (matching) tires and decals.
What's the end weight?
27-28 pounds??
Nice bike. I had always wanted a bike like that when I was young.
Tip to prevent grips from slipping, try applying hairspray. Makes it easy to slip on and becomes sticky after a while
That works usually but thosw were beyond the point of usability. If they go on this easily dry, they are soggy and loose.
nice =)
Great video except for the lame song on the video made me cringe and turn it off lol
Beautiful work
