- Hosts Bianca Solterbeck and Peter Verge make themselves at home in this stately English manor, belonging to British ex-pat Jim Greatbanks. He fulfilled a childhood dream by building the 16th century-inspired estate complete with its own wedding chapel!
But he's chosen an unlikely location for his elegant dream home- the rugged Sunshine coast of British Columbia, which provides the stunning backdrop for this episode!
Dream Homes is a Leo Award nominated series with unlimited access to the crème de la crème in West Coast real estate! The series airs Sunday nights at 8pm, Tuesday nights at 5:30pm on Channel 4 in Metro Vancouver. Times vary in other cities in Western Canada. Check out our Facebook page for more information... Wow that has to be the least snobbish, most kind, generous and down to earth rich guy on the planet. He even cooked and served them breakfast.
I know, right! Such a nice guy. I couldn't believe he let our crew stay overnight at his house! Bianca
That’s a stereotype to think just because someone is rich they’re not a nice person, they’re are probably a lot of nice people who are rich and are not snobbish, but are like this guy.
I like Jim's infectious friendly demeanor, seems a great guy to know, i'm sure he's much loved by family and friends
The owner is hella humble wow!!!
He absolutely is! We had a great time with Jim :) Bianca
I wouldn't change a thing...Absolutely gorgeous!
First time I've seen this show. These two are adorable. I hope you all up North still are able to enjoy this cute show. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Seattle
How did we miss this? haha Thanks for the lovely comment and thanks for watching! We are working on some more content this year. Cheers from Canada, Bianca.
Food, Dream Homes, pure elegants, and humor I love this show

A.L.I.E Mansion from the 100!!!!!
House was built with love...It's awsome
I usually find programmes of this kind have rather obnoxious hosts, but I really enjoyed the presenters. Good job, guys.
Thanks! We appreciate it. We're regular people so no acting needed;) Cheers, Bianca & Peter
There is nothing even remotely English about the style of that architecture.
theres a bit.
Looks more like French to me
tigerwa I know there isn't, and thank God, since English Manors are cold, austre and falling into dis- repair.
Poor Jim got taken by a subdivision house builder who built this nightmare on steroidsand took his hard earned money.. Stately, it is not. Just a large subdivision drywall box. It is what it is.
@@sissyrayself7508 HAHA Im guessing you've never visited England.
If those guys who introduced this episode come to British shores, I guarantee them they won't see a house anywhere here that looks like that. The second I saw the house I knew it wasn't 'english' in any way shape or form. Yes, it's fine house with some interesting features, but the architecture is pure American style glitz. The Canadian architect was asked to design an English manor house, but clearly has no idea what one looks like.
It's incredible value at $10 million, set in western Canada's breathtaking views, but it's no more English style than the Eiffel Tower!
Yea, it's no where near English or french homes, more like a modern contemporary imprint that tries to replicate the style.
Villaver and White xqw3wwqeS3 fly
Villaver and White Is that the way you want to see it? I see it quite differently. For all your "old English Manor" houses are falling into dis- repair now that the landed gentry otherwise known as slum lord tennent masters can't bilk and under pay the legions of the peasants and servants who actually DID all the work so that they could carry on living on their lands and all I can say, my pretentious English snob, to you, is this; "Karma's a bitch isn't she"?
Villaver and White
As an Aussie who has travelled all over the UK, you are so wrong. Ever heard of The National Trust or English Heritage. They have een renovating national properties of this kind for years. If his initial statement was something you didn't agree with, then say so, instead of resorting to talking about 'Karma' in some kind of revengeful and juvenille manner.
I still can't believe this home is situated in Gibsons! I think the house is exquisite & the property is simply amazing! fantastic views to the water & the sounds look amazing. Very Very nice home and thank you for the detailed video tour!
Thanks Jay! We shot this house over the course of two days because there was so much to capture. It's pretty amazing and the owner did end up selling about a year later, I believe. Thanks! Bianca
hahaha oh gibsons BC! i was literally thinking this just looks like any house i would find in Vancouver. and here it is! just a ferry away
Imma just leave this here for future reference

stealth1692 I agree all the English houses are cold, austre and falling into dis- repair and far far too.self aware of their "history" like it's something to wear like a badge of honor.
Seriously $10 millions - not that I can afford it - not bad price for the house
Beautiful home and what a wonderful man❤
Lol, his engineer "OCD" comment about the table settings.

The House of Light!
OMG it’s like my dream drawn into a picture well actually into reality😱😍😍😍. But my destiny must have forgotten that you need much money for something like this😬🙈😂.
You two guys have awesome chemistry for this type of show & yalls witty comments is my favorite part!
+ArtyBicardi Haha thanks so much! We try to keep things fun and def don't take ourselves too seriously!!
Tout simplement superbe , beaucoup de goût
This is like living in heaven (here on Earth!) But not scalable.
If i wear to make a home, I would want a authentic victorian home. That's my dream home. Not a castle, a manor, or a mansion just a simple, and big Victorian.
Superb mansion 👌👏👍👍👍
10 million dollars for tha house is an ok price not that i have tha money lol but luv it so much 👌
We don't have the money either, but we enjoyed visiting it! Bianca
dream homes for sure.
Nice property.
Fun Job!
No kidding! No complaints from us : ) Bianca

With love from Russia.
Hello Russia! We are not making new videos right now. But the channel is still up : ) Bianca
I wanna be like him!
What a kind warm hearted gentleman
Didn't expect the Mayfair furniture look 😝
Have you ever been to the England. You should visit the Stately Homes. Magisterial architecture, artwork, long enfilades decorated with decadent antiques. T'is but a grand exposure and insight into the aristocratic ways of old.
+Dream Homes On average, what is the yearly maintenance cost of such a house?
I quite like the feel of this show, even though the house they showed wasn't English.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the comment :) Bianca
Amazing house...very pricey though
The owner is so soft spoken
Have I missed the front of the house? And only one bedroom is shown.
The front is at 00:02... but the back of the house was not filmed because it wasn't finished. There were 12 bedrooms, that all looked like elegant hotel suites with walk in closets and their own bathroom. We only showed one because they were quite similar. Cheers, Bianca
love it
That was fun😊
Thanks!! Bianca :)
Amazing
This was on the 100
Nice
both of you are cute and funny! are you sure jim's not an alchoholic? just kidding. love the dining room!!
+Chloe Camporedondo Lol, Chloe! Thanks for the comment : ) Yes, the dining room was my FAVORITE room in the house- and probably the nicest dining room I've ever seen! Bianca
It's Huge!!
Please pray that l live IN the best heaven immediately AND automatically and permanently.THANK YOU all for all your loving prayers. PLEASE spread the holy word THANK YOU.
This doesn't really look like an English manor house. It looks like an American characterless building inside and out.
Jealous much?
+Olly Notmyrealname I agree. I knew it was an American house even in the thumbnail. Even though it is a very nice home, it looks nothing like a British stately home and more like a 19th century American building. The interior looks like a rich American modern house and with the exterior; the materials and style is nothing like what was used with British manors. I also think the trees and general outside looks too American and doesn't help either.
+Sepulcher It's quite a hard topic. Architects these days, judging by the 'latest' city buildings, seem to have an IQ of 20. But also, you must remember - old English manors, contain things like stone, and carvings. Take Chatsworth or Waddesdon as an example. Therefore, you need a lot of stone (which is now very expensive, that is why you don't see any new stone buildings being built) and you also need an artist who is able to do old-styled skilled sculpturing (finding artists who can do that nowadays is also difficult unfortunately). I do suppose you can use red brick, like Hampton Court Palace (a Tudor palace) and the French Chateau of Versailles; but even with those there is also stonework, carvings and brick designs. I guess it also depends when you are. I live in Britain; so my guess is that it's probably much easier to find one here than say for example, America - as country homes and manors etc are a big part of Britain and a lot of our towns and cities contain mostly old, detailed architecture (they're practically everywhere and very popular.) And of course the interior. With that, there are even more detailed carvings on the roofs and on the walls. THOUGH - this can be achieved, because when Windsor Castle caught fire; most of their main state rooms were completely burnt out. They restored them, and made them (arguably) even better, so if in Britain and you could afford the costs... I think you could find some.
There was actually very little of the house shown.....and it's not English.
Good looking masion
like a hotel
Why are you all wearing your shoes inside the manor?
Although the home owner wanted to create a home that would look like an English country house, it seems to be lacking the atmosphere and architectural elements of the era he wanted to emulate both internally and externally. Other than that it is a rather nice house with a gorgeous view and beautiful surrounding countryside.
Jim, Jim, Jim, Jim Jim.. you burnt the omlette.. how COULD you???
Omg, we love your comments! Thanks for watching the show :)
Cheers,
Bianca
I'm liking this channel. I usually find videos like this entertaining, but the hosts are always annoying. I like these two. They're just the right combination of goofy, quirky, and fun. Good job. And that house is frickin magnificent.
Thanks Dave! That was our goal so we appreciate the comment. We're a small show with no writers to make us funny- ha! ;) Cheers, Bianca
No wine cellar?
did anyone buy it
Let's go england
The humor / witty comments are lame and ruin the showing of this lovely home.
Sorry to disappoint Laura! We tried to play around with the humor and the "house facts," but we don't always nail it. Thanks for your feedback :) Cheers, Bianca
@ 7:45 How many houses have to have tours with an intermission or two?
Hey! We have to cut it for commercial breaks, when it airs on TV. Thanks for watching :)
💙💫🌳
noticed Peter had a tattoo would not have thought of him to have one cool and that was cool the owner let you stay the night
+Michael Burroughs Yes, he has a couple tattoos!
We were looking for a hotel and the owner offered to let us stay because he has 12 bedrooms! So everyone got their own room- lots of behind the scenes fun on this one ;) Bianca
+Dream Homes that's cool, I'm sure there was and I like the show plus you two make a good team and have a awesome job wish I got to tour these home's let alone to get paid. keep up the good work

Who Came Here For Dark Deception Manor?
These money can only buy a flat in Beijing.这点钱在北京也就买个学区房
This house is not in the slightest bit English in style. As a 50-something years old Englishman, I should know.
Good
For sale for $7,689,718 million
Sold?
Nolan Cox Yes, recently! Jim is moving out this summer.
Dream Homes Dam! was going to put in an offer ;)
Anne Petzer Ha! So close!!
+Sepulcher No, we're not! Peter and I launched a Vancouver based talk show! We miss doing Dream Homes though... never say never!
Noooo I loved Dream homes :( - good luck with your new show.
Crikey! those presenters are bloody annoying! Great house, though
Hi Cathy! We try to have some fun with the show because too many house facts make if feel like a real estate ad. It's a fine line that we're walking for sure. Appreciate you taking the time to let us know- feedback is important!! Cheers, Bianca : )
Ah, I understand... sorry if I offended lol
No worries, Cathy!! :)
Cathy Hunter I think the home owner is way more natural than hosts tho...
I AGREE. SO DISTRACTING, ANNOYING. Air of entitlement. All about 'me'.
I'll take the mistress of the manor, you can keep your pile of brick Greatbanks !! ;))))
In Beverley Hills it would cost $50 Million
Is dream home 10 million pounds or dollars
+Amelia Li Canadian dollars!
👌
Wasnt this home used as the mental hospital in psych
+kisal walpola You might be right! The homeowner did mention there had been some filming there.
My friends house has a gym, pool and hot tub for 800k dollars 🙄🙄
ms, ross
ms. miller
A fake castle. Who doesn't want one of those? Absolutely - it's SO Disney!
I'm not a fan of alcohol. I did however enjoy watching this show because of the hosts. They were energetic and they do work well together. The show's boring otherwise.
+Larisa Radita Thanks Larisa! Peter and I have a lot of fun- and we try to keep things moving and entertaining! Bianca
+Dream Homes Bianca- Have you found your fiancée as of yet...? It shouldn't take you long! You're beautiful and exude class with a good sense of humor. A package deal.
Haha, not yet! Thanks for your lovely comment- it made me day : ) Bianca
Dream Homes And you made mine as well. Keep up the good work! There is NO reason you shouldn't have somebody in your life by now! You're not trying very hard! ; )
:)

Could be a hotel, though..

Sorry we lost you! Thanks for watching, Bianca
What demographic was this show made for seriously, sounds like it’s aimed at kids but it’s a show about real estate
I heard vackyard
If people actually buy this they're big fools
You can tell that house has never been lived in. There are no tell-tale evidences of habitation at all, outside of the props they planted.
No, they lived there! I went back later to visit Jim and his wife. But they definitely don't have a junk drawer or anything like that haha.
Thanks for watching. Cheers,
Bianca
