Those steel "bands" are normally called bracelets btw. Bands are leather, cloth, rubber, etc., the usual stuff with a clasp, and then there are straps like NATOs, marine nationals, and so on, made if cloth.

I love watches and watch several watch channels. Luckily, I appreciate them, but do not feel the need to get into the ownership. My daily wear is a Galaxy watch (1st gen) and will likely upgrade when the next gen releases this year and occasionally wear a G-shock (DW5600 ?). Knives and guns are enough to consume my small expendable income available for fun stuff.

Seiko is a very addicting brand. Even those who own very very expensive watches, you know $10k+ type of watches, very often own multiple Seikos. There are those who are not into them, but those who are, can't seem to stop buying them. They are solid, they come in all sorts of shapes with all sorts of different functions and they are pretty much almost always quality pieces. Also, there is kind of a whole separate Seiko mod community, which really extends the flavors of the watches. Personally, I got into watches first and only recently got into knives. Keep in mind that the watch hobby is generally more expensive than the knife hobby so be selective and don't go nuts right away with your purchases. Enjoy.

I wear a Seiko Samurai most of the time, but have a few less sports oriented Seiko models that I wear as well. I enjoy them all but the Samurai is my fav. I used to wear a very fine Omega diver…very like my Seiko but going for about 5X the price. The two watches are almost exactly equivalent in accuracy. The Seiko is more comfortable in that the band just happens to EXACTLY fit my extremely large wrist out of the box. Nice. When shopping for any new Seiko I’m careful to only consider items thatare verified to have been made in Japan. It matters.

I have owned some really nice watches over the year with my most expensive being an Omega X-33. I'd say the multiplier from knives to watches is x10. If you're into $50 knives, $500 is your watch range. $100 knife/$1,000 watch, etc.
The good thing is: you have an appreciation for both budget & extravagant. You're playing in WE/Civivi/Kershaw territory in relative price.
Next up will be Longines/Oris. Then Omega. Then Zenith/IWC. Then Rolex. Then A Lange en Sohm, AP, Patek, etc
Good luck brother. Welcome to the new 🐇 🕳.

My buddy, Cliffe Wharnsfoot, asked me to give you this chart. Since you’re collecting watches now. I told’im I’d do it. シ
Crystal - that glass thingy that you look through. (Sapphire, mineral, glass, etc.)
Dial - that round thingy that you look at with all the hours on it, and the skinny, pointy arrows go around it.
Hands - those skinny pointy arrow things that move around the dial and point at the hours. (See Dial)
Bezel - that other round thingy on the outside, on the top, with numbers and it turns counter clockwise. (Some people use it as a timer, it’s basically just a clicky fidget spinner)
Crown - another little round thingy on the east side that pulls out and pushes in and is used to set the time/date. (Some screw in and out to keep out water… and I guess maybe gunk and stuff)
Case - the main part thing that holds all the guts in.
Case Back - the back side of the case. (See case) (sometimes it’s screwed on or off, or snaps on or off)
Lugs - the four pointy things that stick out the north and south ends where you attach the bracelet or band.
Bracelet/Band - goes around your wrist and if it’s metal (such as steel, or gold) it’s a bracelet. If it’s leather or plastic, etc., it’s a band. I guess you could use rope or paracord, but bracelets work best.
    Thanks,
    Cliffe W.

I used to collect the seiko presage line. My favorite its the seiko snow flake and the star bar honey comb. They are pricey on the secondary market now. but I could never sell them. they are too nice.

I’m a citizens man myself. I have 3 ranging from 300-1200 bucks. As far as not being told to buy another on….I completely understand!

I got into knives that way. I blame you for my xm-24, which I love and my lust for a Shirogorov. Jerad Neeves got me interested in cologne now. I refuse to go the way of the watch. 🤣
