Visiting Bali in 2023 (Day Tour From Sanur to Ubud)

- So in my last video, we flew up to Bali from Perth where we have since spent an amazing 3 nights in the beautiful beachside area of Sanur. So I will be making a Sanur based video in the weeks to come, however we have met a tour guide who is going to be driving us up to Ubud today, and stopping off at some of the local tourist attractions. In this video we will be visiting a Barong and Kris Dance, checking out the amazing Batuan Temple and also the swings / rice paddies in Ubud. This is my first time travelling back to Bali, Indonesia since 2019 and I am really looking forward to uploading a bunch of Bali travel videos from this trip in 2023. Lets enjoy Bali together!

Ubud, by all accounts... used to be my favourite location in Bali. I avoid the beach areas like a plague. So my Balinese experiences have always centered around and radiated FROM Ubud. Which is why when I got married in 2019, I chose to do it in Ubud. By then, it has been over 10 years since my last visit and my god. The JAM in Ubud, and that Instagram rice paddy location. It did not used to be like that! But the Balinese need to do what they can to survive, I suppose. So the villa where our wedding took place was thankfully tucked away from Ubud in Bongkasa, a 10 minute car ride away. You've probably done more as a tourist than I ever have on that island, and I look forward to your Ubud videos.

Oh wow! Married in Bali!! Congrats!! From my experience going there (more than a few times times now), there is only one beach area I like… which I’ll explain in an upcoming video when I compare it to another area. Yes, I have heard about the changes.. and especially now after 😷 There has been a huge influx of tourists from certain areas… so the place is packed… the Ubud video is mid production and looking forward to uploading that one! What a straight-up clip. The BIG takeaway is your empathy and honest direct questions. Tourist traps are everywhere and I am ok with that . As you say just be up front with desired outcomes .My trick is to invite the tout or operator for a meal and a chat 99% we end up having a great day off the tourist track . Now get lots of emails from such over last 14 years . Simple answer is treat peope as you would like to betreated coupled with local situational awareness and life becomes easy and the wallet not drained. Cheers ripper review again 10/10

Yeah I’ve definitely learned a lot from this trip… and another trip I did after this one was filmed.. your method sounds like a good idea.. build some rapport and should hopefully make the trip much smoother. Nicely done Luke i haven’t been to Bali for like 10 years but once you get away from the whole tourist trap, I recall many parts of the island are absolutely amazing with great culture and stunning scenery! That’s not to say there’s nothing wrong with going there for a relaxing holiday either but there is certainly a lot more to Bali than just that :)
Yeah definitely mate! The main places I like are very laid back and quite chill (away from all the ruckus so to speak). I’d like to explore more of the island next time and possibly check out areas much further on past ubud… riding around the island is definitely a goal of mine. I appreciate the comment and support!

Great video, Luke. Ubud looked really beautiful. It's great they still use that ancient temple for ceremonies. I was surprised by the swings at the rice paddies. I've seen pictures of that online before, but didn't get the full appreciation for how touristy and commercial it is. The rest of your tour looked excellent and your tour guide seemed very knowledgable. I look forward to seeing the upcoming vlogs,
Thanks Michael! Yeah aside from the Barong and Kris Dance, the temple was great to visit. Always been keen on history so it helped having the tour guide their to talk us through everything. The Ubud video is up later today. I appreciate the support!
