Maybe it's just me but I always thought that her door was the new Casita front door. However I'm happy she got a new one

I thought of the same thing! I should’ve brought that up, but I did think the whole Casita was her “room” in a way
Guys, there is a very simple answer to why Mirabel didn't get a door and it's not that mysterious actually. She didn't get a door because the magic was already failing at that point. Bruno was already bullied, Luisa and Isabella were already suffering under all the pressure. Even as a child Mirabel was told to "make her family proud". It's not even about her. The magic was simply too weak to give anyone a door or a gift and she just so happened to be the first to experience this. We just didn't understand the rules back then.
And I know what you are asking: How come Antonio got a door then? Well... he had Mirabel. She noticed he wasn't doing okay and took the time to take the pressure of off him. Told him that he would be loved with or without a gift. She even took his hand and accompanied him up to his door. That made all the difference and helped the magic to work for him. It was an early sign that Mirabel was exactly what the family needed. And it had nothing to do with destiny or secret gifts or being the chosen one or even magic at all. She simply loved her family unconditionally. She had the empathy to notice they weren't doing well and helped. That's it.
Part of the twist was that the movie cleverly made us think that the magic worked fine until the house literally broke apart, but that wasn't actually true. The cracks have already been there for years.

what a lot of people forget is that bruno has been hiding for ten years, and all the while patching the cracks in casita. they definitely didnt only start when mirabel saw them, probably a little while after bruno left. i think your theory is excellent!!
It should be it’s own show. Show the family & their gifts are growing & evolving. As Mirabel leads the family & town reestablish itself to the world as they are no longer isolated & free in more ways than one.

I agree!! Encanto has so much potential to be an adorable wacky sitcom a la the new zootopia specials in Disney +. At least that’s what I’d like to see
To Add: I can even see Bruno become a play write, even teaming up with Mariano. Isabella focusing on not just plants but also medicine with her mother. Exploring Deloris & Mariano’s relationship, etc.

In the companion novel for Encanto, it's revealed that after Casita was rebuilt, Mirabel still stayed in the nursery, HOWEVER, each member of her family had a hand in decorating it with a piece of their gifts. Isabella added flowers to the doorframe, Luisa added bright, strong colours and there are painted animals and a rainbow... there's even a little theatre (for rats, presumably) depicted. Inside, there's a vine that grows over her bed like a canopy, a chigurio to keep her company, a heavy bookshelf loaded with books and a plate of arepas (and a cup of hot chocolate). They turned the nursery into her own proper "room" that she missed out on from Casita. It's no longer The Nursery.
Not to forget that everyone's doors are a little different now: Luisa's reflects her whole self, not just her strength and Isabella's has more than just flowers because "she's a lot more complicated than that". Oh, and Bruno's doesn't have cobwebs on it anymore.
Edit: Looking at the door on the Christmas tree and comparing it to the Madrigal door on Casita at the end of the movie, it looks as though they've just taken that design of Mirabel, separated her out, and stuck her on a door. The streaks of light might be for "her gift is being the miracle", though to me it feels like "hey! It's Mirabel!" - an attention-grabber, if you will.
Wow, I think I have to get that companion novel at some point.
@@Furienna It adds some more details that weren't included in the movie. For example, when Antonio gives Bruno the doll Mirabel made him, he says to Bruno that he'll need it back afterwards.
I think Mirabel's room will be a sort of live in therapist's office with memorabilia of all her family, and when a new one is born she gets a new item that she has to figure out what makes them special from, what makes THEM a miracle, cause "the miracle is you, not some gift just you"
I made a joke after I saw the movie in theatres that Mirabel’s gift is therapy.
I hope encanto gets a show like the tangled series. I even feel like the artstyle of illustrations on the doors is sort of similar to the tangled series artstyle. The large cast of characters would provide a lot of different opportunities for short stories in episode form. With how big Encanto was I feel like Disney would be making a huge mistake if they didn't make it into a show

In mirabel new room I was thinking she would have stuff from each member of her family, plants for Isabella, a stuff Unicorn from Luisa, books from her mother, a weather Mobile from pepa, Records from Dolores, Costumes from Camilo, Stuff animals from Antonio and a hour glass from burno
What about her dad and uncle Felix? At the top of my head all I can think of is a piano and a makeshift dance studio respectively.🤔
Also, would anything remain of abuela, or would it be an entirely blank slate?

The idea that the nursery was Mirabel's room as intended by Casita was one of my views on the story. She was there, not because she was without a gift, but because she was the gift to younger Madrigals, who she could guide and teach as they came into their own gifts. (Starting with Antonio)
My other theory was that she actually had super-speed and her door was actually moving around so that only she could see it, but had never bothered to look for it.
(This briefly popped in my head at the beginning of "Waiting for a Miracle" when she's dancing around and everything and everybody, including the light trails, is frozen in time. This is the kind of thing you see from Barry Allen and Pietro Maximoff.)
poetic ,but not pratic... can you imagine spending your entire life ina nursery? wehat about pricavy ,love interest ,etc?
The only theory I have is that the house couldn't generate a door for her because her power was directly connected to the house itself-it couldn't reflect itself without being an endless mirror error. Her emotions feed into the house's health and she has an intrinsic connection to it in a way no one else demonstrates. And much like her weather-generating aunt, she can't simply turn off this power. It's emotionally continuous. So it comes as no surprise that her hand on the door to the newly rebuilt house grants the house life again. She is now the beating heart of the house.

I vote for a series! There are just too many story possibilities to be restricted by the feature film format. A series can tell smaller stories, show us flashbacks of the day each Madrigal first received their gifts, let us see the rest of the magical rooms, etc. There wouldn't be room to share all those details in a movie.

I’d love it if Mirabel had the ability to grant the gifts
I think Mirabel's power is actually just being bound to the house and this becoming 'the heart of casita'. All of the things that happened to Casita' actually happened in direct response to her emotions in the film. In feeling anxious and singing the waiting song she sees a crack in the house directly afterward. And the house only truly finally falls apart amidst the big confrontation with her grandmother. Finally at the end, she brings life back to Casita' when she touched the handle of the rebuilt front door.
I think it would be cool to see her learn more about Casita, naturally with her inquisitive nature, somehow form a deeper connection, then see Casita grow, shift, and change in amazing ways. (Ex: including more "family activity rooms") creating more rooms where they can spend time together rather than only at meal times. Also, maybe Casita grows coinciding with the growth of Mirabel, the family, and the town? Unleashing the fullest extent of what Casita can really do? I think Mirabel's room would have an item from each family member, a study desk roofed balcony with a view of the town(kinda like a crows nest?), a window seat/bench, art/sewing closet, and lots of spare blankets and pillows just in case (each customised to match a family member). It would be so awesome to see Casita give Mirabel and the rest of the family members a secret (place or thing) kinda like Bruno's secret place in the walls. I could go on and on. .... I just love everything about that movie. Edit: Also, keep the enthusiasm/playful friendships with the children, and continue to guide them with being their friend/educator. (Examples: The Antonio thing, and the towns children adoring her for her very caring/loving personality. 💕) The whole movie, Maribel is the utmost honest, brightest, and wholesome influence you could get for them to look up to, also I feel they help her in a way too. ^-^ Very very important lessons all around.
I like the idea that Mirabel will become the next head of the family because she brings everyone together and that's why she does not have a gift door at first, she already had her gift inside her.
Mirabel's gift can truly be creativity with art and illustrations

Im SERIOUSLY thinking that mirabel's power might be similar or HAVE similarities to a spider, since she sows and spiders spin webs so she will spin the web that will unite her family. However it is just my theory but after some careful thinking, i think that might be the case
The world is long overdue for a truly wholesome and not at all creepy spider!

IF there is an Encanto ride, it should be like the Cars ride, where you have a chance to go one route or the other. In that ride, you can go left to Luigi, or right to Ramon. Maybe the left side would be for Luisa, and the right would be for Isabela (something like that), and you'd have to race the other vehicles to see who would make it to the end first. At the end, Bruno would say "I knew that you'd make it first. I saw it coming."
Glad to see Mirabel having a door. Looks like Antonio’s wish came true for his cousin to have one.
I know everyone has theories to Mirabel being the next monarchy of the Madrigal family, to even of what the inside of her room would be like. I do have one that if everyone looks back in the movie Mirabel is very creative, like making the stuffed jaguar for Antonio and those embroidered lace candle holder things, and I’m guessing she also made the patterns on her clothes and her satchel bag herself. I have a theory that her room may look like a normal room close to the nursery but it would be somewhat of workshop type room, with lots of creative tools, like a little sewing machine, threads, needles, fabrics etc. She makes things to show how much she cares for her family, maybe even making things for the Encanto to show how much she cares for everyone in her own way.
But however the Encanto franchise goes, if they do plan a Encanto series, just glad she has a door of her own.
I think her room is probably full of ways to connect with her family. Like board games, bean bags, craft supplies, snacks, and overall just fun things to do together. Also, full of family pictures and mementos. Very comfy - kind of place you’d go to get a hug and hang out.

I think Mirabel probably could be the one destined to lead the family just like her abuela and they'll probably look to her for guidance I'd LOVE to see what her room looks like behind her door whatever's in there it has to involve something that relates to her, what she likes, or is good at
My head cannon is that her gift is invisibility. Meaning her door is invisible, this would kind of make sense based off “Waiting On a Miracle” song as she sings around her family without anyone noticing her.
I really hope they are making a second Encanto or a Disney+ Show would be awesome and the franchise has been a big hit I can’t see Disney passing up the chance to capitalize on it more by making a few more movies
I’m so glad for Mirabel. I know she’s a fictional character, but I’m so happy she’s got her own door at last.
I imagine Mirabel's room like a total mess full of things that represent the other family members, like her skirt, she could have a suspended garden for Isabela, some animal toys and plushies for Antonio, some musical instruments for Dolores etc
I like the idea that Casita didn't give Mirable her a door when she was 5 that had her with the candle. Because that would have put a lot of pressure on a 5 year old and would have changed her personality a lot

I originally thought that mirabell had the power of time manipulation and illusions because of the start when she was walking away during the photo time slowed and during most of the songs she created illusions that matched the song and after the song little to no time moved

I always thought that the house itself was her room. The entire house interacted with Mirabel way more than the rest of the family, like the house served the family, was was friendly with Mirabel. Thats why when her "door" was revealed, it was the FRONT door of the entire house, and not a room in the house. That was just my read on it.
I feel like this new door/room would/could replace the nursery, so Mirabel can continue to help raise and bond with new family members.

I have a theory, it involves Abuelo Pedro. What if he has extended family? Like, it's a HUGE family and many of the descendants decide to travel to find their own homes to grow *their* families and they are allowed to do so as long as there is still a family that can continue the tradition of living in the ORIGINAL Casa la Madrigal; and Pedro was on of the few kids to leave the original home to find his own family - which he did. But, there's a slight catch, having gifts is a genetic thing but they don't show *immediately* after birth it takes a while and in this large family everyone has unique gifts and many of them could have similar gifts to each other but the are unique. (For example: one child is born with fire powers and another can control light but can still create heat with light) But some of them don't get gifts but they live with it and go on adventures with those who have gifts. Pedro could have been one of those that had no gift but everyone considered his heart to be his gift, kinda like Mirabel. And maybe, in the large family, there's a Mirabel that was born into the family. She has a gift but she screws up a lot with said gift and her only comfort is art to forget that she's a screw up - her family is really sweet though and just call her quirky and try to help her control her gift. Okay, the last bit about the other Mirabel in Pedro's original family is more of an AU BUT MY THEORY STILL STANDS THAT PABLO HAS ANOTHER FAMILY!!! Doubt that it'll be a good theory to anyone but, hey, I think it's good.
We don’t know if Pedro has any siblings, so having another set of cousins for the triplets with their own families would indeed be interesting.

lol i remembered a crack theory on why mirabel doesn't have a door is because she's a leap year baby, so when she turned 5, technically she would be 1 years old if she's a leap year baby and by the time she's 20, she would technically be 5 years old

I believe Mirabel if she was given a magical gift would be something of a sewing gift because she's so good at embroidering her outfit as well as the stuffed animal she gave her cousin. Sewing represents bringing pieces of fabric and thread together to create something that can also be spun as being her ability to bring people together to create something new.
I feel like she will be the next Abuelita.

Call me a pessimist, but I kind of think at this point they just made a matching Christmas decoration so that Mirabel wouldn't be left out of the tree. ^^; I don't see this as being solid enough to claim as canon yet...

I would personally love to see Casita brought to life. The idea of being able to explore all the rooms and get to step foot inside of the magical house seems like an amazing adventure in and of itself.
This is so exciting that Mirabel got her door and I'm with you Isaac I'm very excited on what's next for _Encanto_
I definitely think it should become a franchise. The mountain is open now. Outsiders can get in. It would be interesting to see how Mirabel and the Madrigal family deal with people outside their, what has been up until now, very insular community, and people who have become more advanced technologically, and how outside people will view this community that has remained basically locked in time. Plus, maybe Isabella will find her true happiness with an outsider that she couldn't find within the community.
I'm so happy! I wanted her to get a door so badly and now she does! I bet she has an Awsome arts and crafts nook, and a reading window!

I think a ride through Casita would be so cool... They could create interactive displays of the rooms (rather than building whole (huge) rooms) and have Casita propelling you through in a wash bucket or something... I love this notion!

I think what will be Mirabel’s tour is lots of her favorite activities and a magical miracle stuff as well
I personally hope that there’s a lot of sewing fabrics around her room, or her room is made out of sewing fabric and yarn, and other stuff like that
There is a interesting theory that all of Madrigal's got their power based on what they liked in childhood. Like Antonio got to speak to animals because he interested in animals even before he gets his gift.I think Mirabel got more interested about their Casita and powers that Casita gave to her family(As we can see in Family Madrigal song) than having her own power and I think it is pretty normal for 5 years old child.I think she accepted herself as a member of her family but family doesn't accepted her as the way she is.Casita is very close to Mirabel and support her.Being the next Householder and keep her family balanced is her responsibility for future.She herself is a gift and a miracle.
(Fun fact:-mirabel mean “gift of God" according to some sources and name “Mirabel” sounds close to word “Miracal”)
Abuela can’t live forever, so Mirabel was perhaps always going to be the heir of the Madrigal family, as chosen by the miracle

I hope that is saying on this video would be possibly for a sequel on Encanto in a near future. Although, Encanto is much like and love or favorite movie of all time.
I always that her door showed her the house and her magic was the house, when the she became more upset about not feeling apart of the family the house became more broken. When she felt apart of the family she unknowingly fixed the house.
I was thinking that’s why she didn’t get a door it’s because she rubbed the hand where she touched the candle to her dress making the magic fade in her hands before touching the door. (This is only what I think)
I liked that finally a disney lead who is neither a princess nor a person with special magic……..it shows its okey to not have a gift and still as important as anyone who is super gifted….I think that will be more realistic and solve insecurities within young girls that thinks they have to be gifted to be valued

Her gift was getting her family members to "open up" and her opening the front door to the house felt symbolic of that

Her power is the house. Is she what makes a home a home. Everyone is welcome. Home is your place where you can kick your shoes off and be yourself. Even Bruno, when no else wanted him, she did. She is the home , manifested. Home is where you can find yourself, and Family
I've always believed that Mirabel's gift was being the heart of the family, and that she will become head of the family after her grandmother.
I think there's alot of hope for disney to change for the better.

So happy for her! Even if it remains a park only feature, its gratifying to see she finally got what she had always wanted!
My theory about her room is that it will remain down to earth and honest, like her, like the nursery was, but be larger, more room for her space and any roommates she will have, and her talent. As the “heart” of the family, I can see her welcoming any family member in to talk, recharge, bond. Since my HC has her transferring the candle’s magic onto her birthday dress, thus absorbing it into herself, and bonding her to sewing, instead of depositing it into a would be door at 5, her room will reflect her talent in bringing people together, mending bonds, fixing broken things, sewing. A talent she has always excelled at, even without a door. So with a room: relationship counseling!
A Casita in Magic Kingdom will sound amazing. It must definitely be placed in New Fantasy Land.
When I watched Avatar II in the cinema, I also thought about an idea to a ride: A water coaster that represents the eastern seaboard in Pandora. Disney World doesn’t have a water coaster yet. Of course, it requires an expansion to Animal Kingdom and a huge investigation, but that could be worth it.
