Also worth noting he has a non-useless bond CE with NP damage and (one time) guts, so plugging around guts supports isn't strictly needed

Not quite. He is as dense as a normal shonen protagonist with social cues and really bad with magical techno babble. But he is ridiculously perceptive otherwise. As for his breathing. He doesn't have the instinctive knowledge to do stuff other people people do naturally, such as raising a hand or breathing. So he needs to manually control every single muscle in his body to do anything.

Anyways, as far as gameplay goes, I don’t think I’ll be using him. I’m not really one for NPs that kill my own units, so he’s probably just going in the second archive
@@Alexzander1989 It's not lacking the instinctive knowledge, he lacks the organ that helps regulate and routinize all those actions, for us movement of any limb or breathing are near automatic you could even say the body just moves on it's own with how it feels, however he can't do that, he needs to do EVERYTHING on his own, sort of like when you lift something heavy and need to concentrate for that but for every action including breathing

From what i gathered, the act of breathing and a lot of other simple things like moving uses a shit ton of muscles that our brain just does automatically, soujyuro's brain does not have that automatic function and so he has to manually control each and every one of those muscles every time he wants to breath

He's written the way a 14 year old writes an OC. He's edgy and generic at best and unbearably annoying at worst. He's the entire reason I stopped reading Tsukihime because he's such a terribly written character.

first of all, yes, he looks edgy, nothing is wrong with that tho, just comes with having those eyes. I can also agree that he's a bit annoying trying to deny Arcueid's existence at the beginning, this is part of his character for a reason though. Shiki Tohno yearns for a normal life, so when he accidentally killed Arcueid bcz of the demon hunting blood within him, he tries to deny it bcz he doesnt wanna become a murderer and most of all, lose the normal life he has.
if you take a close look at him, he isnt even edgy at all, generic? yes, but that was already intended by nasu bcz he wanted him to 'look' like a self insert, he isnt tho.
why I think he's cool and well-written, he isn't even edgy, while perceiving death, it would be easy for him to become desensitized of life, but instead this just reminds him of how precious life is for him. he's a living contradiction of himself, hell, Shiki Ryougi is more edgy compared to him, he knows when he's gonna die, but he isnt scared of it, bcz just being alive is fun for him. he says he wants to have a normal life but continues to help Arcueid and sacrifice most of his lifespan to help her.
his depth, having those eyes makes him go insane, Ryougi literally made herself blind the moment she opened her eyes. add the fact that he has anemia and memory loss. every route he experience a different level of insanity, from talking to himself to killing his friends and family. the reason why he's a bit annoying and harsh to Arcueid is bcz thats how close he feels he is to Arcueid, you can even see this in his relationship with Arihiko.
@@unignorance7736 you can like him and that’s totally fine but I disagree. This is how he is meant to be read in concept but in practice it hardly comes off as such. But then even in concept it’s generic and not appealing to me. A lot of Nasu’s early works focus hard on good concepts but then have mid tier execution and Shiki is a causality of that. More to love for you cause he isn’t getting it from me

I read both and shiki is significantly better written in remake. The overall direction makes him far more likeable.
