  • Bunny chats to Tim Hart and Rob Skinner.
Tim is the owner of the world famous Hambleton Hall hotel. The restaurant of which has held a Michelin star for the longest of any restaurant in the UK. Rob Skinner, is the Head Gardener there.
Rob explains his role, and gives tips for maintaining the splendid gardens, and Tim explains his changes to the garden, and why and how, he learnt to climb his magnificent trees, to carryout the necessary pruning and shaping of them. This includes the three stunning cloud pruned, cork oak trees which he planted and formed. This shaping enables them to make an iconic statement, and ensures that the hotel bedrooms receive adequate light, and that the breath taking views from the bedrooms are maintained.

Love the cloud pruned cork oaks. They grow to massively big trees if left to their own device. I randomly came upon one in Tenterfield in NSW a couple of years back which was brought out from England in a jam jar & planted in 1861. It’s a tourist attraction though I accidentally stumbled across it in a back street.

Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful place. I agree with Tim and his gardener... don't dismiss annuals because they do provide a lot of food for the pollinators, and do walk around your garden every day! I always tell my clients that gardening is an interactive sport! You have to be involved. ❤
