Here across the gulf (FL), after Hurricane Irma took a B-line right up the peninsula, it had degrated to a weak catagory 2/strong catagory 1 storm. Ultimately it spared my area (Tampa region) from serious storm surge because if how the eye stayed just on shore, and because of the tendency for storm surge on one side of the storm vs the other.. Anyway, in my neighborhood, power was down for ~4 days straight. Alot of utility poles running between people's property lines (backyard to backyard) had downed tree branches which meant the power company had to keep power off until chainsaw relief saw their block.

Prioritized are hospitals, after that is Lift-Stations. Lift-stations help keep sewerage moving in the right direction. It you live on the same electrical service line as a lift-station of hospital then you are in the right place. Surprisingly fire stations, police stations, nursing homes, jails are not on the priority list.
I called abotts office and was talked to horriibly and hung up on. These people are evil. Back in the day you seen hlp trucks in area. Not one truck within miles. Still no power. These people need to be prosecuted and thrown in prison. Everyone envolved and those in " power" who are involved.

Its both bro. Texas tried to pride itself on independent power, in that its power grid was designed for specifically running Texas. But the electric companies likely had some bigger lines that were pulled - many companies (if u pay attention to Life After Layoff, other Job Market video channels) are trying to understaff to cut costs to labor for profit margin. And yes they dont care ultimately about whether you need electricity or not. These are standard predatory practices, even Central Maine Power company does the same thing during the winter. And year after year they increase costs to all people in the state. The company in TX will likely say "we couldnt find enough workers / don't have the funds to pay workers" even though this is an outright lie, Texas is one of the few states not hurting for either money or workers.
