    It is a lot easier to unclip the small hose to the transmission cooler. That will let out 90 percent of the coolant and it will not spill all over. Then you can either use the output from a vacuum cleaner to push out the rest or take off the hose at the water pump to get the last 1/2 liter.

    Did you manage to get all of the old coolant out only with the hose removal

    Great video, so after you drain the old coolant out and replace the hose underneath the car.... do you then top of the reservoir and start the 12 minute process? Or do you start that process first and top up after?

      Cheers mate, so yeah refit the hose to the water pump and then put the 50/50 mix in the expansion tank. Take your time and fill it up slowly to allow most of the air to come to the top, then start the bleed process. You'll probably need to add a little after the bleed but wait till the cars cool to do so, after a few drives check the level again just to be safe 👍

      Do you let the car bleed when the engines on?

    • @lmc333

      @@FlipThatCardKez engine does NOT need to be on. you dont have to turn on the light for this to work...

    Can I change that short radiator hose from the oil filter housing without taking off the air box pipe that is on top?

    Really surprised that BMW didn't include a drain cock on the radiator to do this. About to attempt this on my newly purchased M135i but am scared to death that I'll end up killing all the neighborhood cats with all that coolant going every which way!!

      The intercooler is below the radiator so yoy can't actually see the bottom of it, but yes some easy drain point would be better!

    for the bleed process, the engine does not need to be on.
    Furthermore, you do not need to have or turn on the headlight, unnecessary step. Not sure why you did that. I was able to get the electrical coolant pump to work without having to fear draining the battery, especially for 12 mins.

    When do I close the bleeding screw on the bottle after the 12min while the car is off ?

  • @sentoneYYC
    @sentoneYYC 2 года назад

    ok but you didn't show the refill part,, so do you dump the whole coolant in while the system is bleeding, to you just add and the reservoir will suck as you pour in? do you bleed first and pour in later... see,, lots of missing info...

    • @lmc333
      @lmc333 5 месяцев назад

      close and tighten all the loops, refill into the expansion reservoir, start the bleed process, keep an eye and refill to make sure it doesn't dip below the min level, after 12 mins, you should be fine, close everything and check back in a couple of days.

    Jacob, stupid question...see how you drained, see how you bled...how did you get the 4.5 litres of coolant back in? Through the expansion tank?

      technically 1 whole gallon (1/2 concentrated, 1/2 distilled water) should be enough, so if you buy a 1gal of concentrated blue stuff, you should be covered to have 2 gal)
