I have branched into the zygonesia.i have the blue bird and a similar Tsubotarra blue moon. Blooms to open any day now. I give them similar care to my zygos. Thanks for sharing your zygo collection.
Thank you for sharing your experience with Zygos. Looking forward to see blooms, I am especially curious about the species mackayi. I love Zygonisias too but still could not find...
Looks like you're getting the hang of those Zygos! They look better every time you do an update on these guys! I find that I have to keep them more shaded in the summertime to combat the heat and lack of humidity, it's one of the factors I change since I grow them outdoors 24/7 nowadays.
Thanks Jess 😊🙏 I really appreciate the compliment. I have been trying really hard to get the conditions right for these ones. One a side note with the orchid flasking I’m still kind of struggling for some reason. I flashed my green phal pod in August 2021 and still haven’t seen any germination. I was wondering if my light conditions have been a problem. Do you use supplemental light with the flasks or just ambient room light?
I find Promenaea to be a very different animal to Zygopetalum and they seem to require a night time drop in temps of 5-8 C less than daytime (depending on day temps, obviously. But if day temps are 26-28, then nights should be 19-20). If they don't get that, they are quite difficult to maintain, unless days are always on the cool side (20-21). They are also easy to water too often or not enough. They will rot new growths at the drop of a hat. Basically, fussy little tykes.
I hope you get blooms on all you Zygos soon! It seems like your getting the hang of it with the Promenaea. I have one but it seems a bit stagnant. Grows nice roots but no new growths. I'll be following your journey with yours. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 😊🙏 I can’t wait for the blooms either. Yeah Promenaea and Zygopetalum are both in the Zygopetalina subtribe. I always check up online, Wikipedia is the easiest to see. Happy growing 🪴🌸
Hi David!!! I apologize for contacting this way but I don't seem to have your email. The thing is, we are organizing a CareCollab about Rhynchostilis gigantea and I do not remember if you have one. If you do have this species and are willing to join in, please confirm to me by email till January 27th. The video is to be uploaded by mid February. You will find my email in the ABOUT section of my channel. Thanks and happy day to you!!!
@@OrchidsFynbos Summers here can still be a problem especially because we have dry heat which isn't good for orchids. I have tried having them outside but I have to water three times a day and that's not doable 😁
I should have included my Warczewiczella and the Pescatoria both are related and need the same basic care
