I have 2 Nantucket totes, one in dark brown ( like yours ), and one in fuschia, my experience is exactly like yours - the new DD bags stink, but the smell will go away after airing for a long time; and the brighter colours fade over time ( hence likely to transfer ). These bags are extremely hardy and chic. Love them.
