this ashen one must be like "who the f is disturbing my sleep? oh you want to link the fire but these lords of cinder get in the way? there done i'm going back to sleep"
Woodyseth1 Woodward but you play normal and fight the enemys lvl up, loot he just basicly runs away from anything, and only fight what he must fight, big difference! And dont be sad :D For me it took 11 hour to get to the RoS :)
consumed king was hard, sam? :P Every boss in DS3 have one thing in common... hug their legs and most of their attacks wont hit you and you can hit them... those bosses are somewhat harder that either dont have legs (aldrich) or have moves that hit if you are too close. Oceiros was pretty easy if one just hugs the legs all the time and avoids to the sides when he charges.... first time when i was on him it took a while to get it right but second time around (many months after) i defeated him in less than 5 tries. (2 days ago) Funny thing about nameless king is that most new people try to attack the legs of the wyvern... so they make it burst fire and literally 2-3 shot if you dont run away... but if you only attack the head, not only does it take more damage, he will never use the fire... hard part is the last phase where i still die often while trying to help people. :D Even on him its wise to hug his legs and dodge/strafe to the side to not get hit... granted i dont play bleed builds so killing these things usually takes longer, and i never do speedruns. :S
I am glad to see you updated the title of this video to "former" world record, since I hold the world record at it for 0% in 0 seconds. Thank you for complying.
Data mining wouldn't really be too helpful, but yeah, mostly by accident or by experimentation. Discovering that Tears can sometimes save you from long falls, spots where you can land before falling into a killzone, etc. are all easily discovered by accident, for example. Sometimes you take a bugged mechanic and experiment where you might be able to use it, like the Ashes DLC bugman skip where he clips you through the map. People knew he could clip you through the floor, so they tested where he could clip you through and where would be most useful.
Tears of Denial isn't affected by scaling, and talismans don't have the Gentle Prayer skill. He even still keeps the chime in his offhand for healing. It's hardly a huge deal, maybe a second wasted at most in picking up and equipping it, but hey, it's free time
To everyone saying it isn't legit please die it's any%. Also if you don't think he is good, he's has the records for "All Bosses" run on every souls game except ds and DeS
Could you do some kind of speedrunning for beginners video? Like how to practice speedrunning, useful tips and tricks, keybindings. I'd love to see something like that for Dark Souls 3 Any% speedrun. If there is already video like that then sorry.
Hakej there's a guy named the demodcracy that does speedruns and talks over them and tells you what he's doing and the best strats for the run they are longer (around 1-2 hours but they are worth watching to get into running the game)
how do you get the final skip after lighting the 4 thrones? i mean, you basically skip the firelink altar part (which saves what, 30 seconds?), you directly go to the preboss area... wondering how you do that
Just wondering, how did you enter the archives without killing abyss watchers? I thought you had to kill the three lord soul bosses before you could get in there?
Well you spend a ton of time rolling/jumping in walls and shit, jumping of edges to see where the death floor is and if there is a way to glitch out the "falling" animation into getting stuck... stuff like that. Its sad when companies fix it afterwards though, it ruins speed running a bit if you ask me... having to find a old version of the game so you can continue to run it blows...
Can someone explain please why Storm Ruler do not reduce Focus Cost? When I encountered Yhorm first time I just haven't got enough FC to you sword And in this run it didn't use FC at all...
The game calculates the in-game time spent on a character and that time is what defines the actual time of the run. When you go to select your character it will have time played on their profile. The game doesn't factor in loading screens so whenever he has to do something with a required animation (opening doors) it's faster to quit out because you can skip the animation and you don't lose any time in the loading screen. The other instances of quitting out is to reset the mobs in the area.
Why wouldn't it make sense to just not allow speed runners to exit to the menu to save time, I understand they try to compensate for the fact that some people have faster/slower computers by pausing and unpausing, but why not just open the door? I mean the timing for when you pause/pause could accumulate and make a decent amount of a time discrepancy between runs because everyone's timing isn't perfect, however the door always opens within a static amount of time. Just seems a little inconsistent or maybe I'm stupid, there could be another reason to it. You may say that the time difference that accumulates over the entire run is almost negligible but in speed running even a few seconds make a pretty big difference.
This was awesome! I was wondering if someone could explain to me what all the quitting to menu and reloading does? I get that it obvious has a purpose but I'm not completely sure what it is?
How'd you skip the first bonfire travel after placing all the Souls in their thrones? You know when you go back to the bonfire and the firekeeper walks over but you just selected the bonfire and immediately warped to the one in front of Soul of Cinder instead of having to walk through the "alternate reality" Firelink Shrine and warp from the bonfire outside the Shrine to get to the Soul of Cinder bonfire.
I think it stacks bleed in addition to what others have said. Or has some strong effect on it. You'll notice sometimes the boss will make a splashing noise and blood will spurt out. They've suffered from blood loss I think.
Holy shit this comment section is filled with so much ignorance. The point of an Any% run is to exploit the game in such a way to beat it as quick as possible. All the glitches he's doing in the run is not tool assisted and can be done in the completely unmodified version of the game (Although I think a lot of them have been patched by now). Speedrunners spend so much time learning how the game works and finding these exploits (that are hard to execute aswell), so anyone who calls the runner "bad" or says that "the gliches ruined the run" are completely missing the point of an Any% speedrun, and frankly I have no idea what you're doing here in the first place.
Shenzi im so glad you actual explained the reason to "Any%" speedruns and fundamentals to it, instead of saying "Omg fucking retards in chat dont know what a any% run is lol" good job :)
should've started with ds2. the bosses are so Fucking easy in Ds2. Think the hardest boss was watcher and defender of throne. everything else was easy as Fuck. But in Ds3 I spent 7 hours fighting the abyss watchers. no lie.
I Am Livid I beat them on my second try. It was honestly weird I went for a mixed dex/str build that fucked me over in end game, and couldnt even get past Oceiros, so I couldnt get the Havel set I wanted to get before starting NG+, which i never even did because i couldnt change my stats due to a lack of tongues. It was a clusterfuck.
My question is, is everything on one huge continuous map? Like, if you could get out of bounds at the high wall, could you just go almost anywhere in the game?
The more I see, the more I question how people manage to discover shit like this. Just holy fuck. DId you discover this or is this community involment? EDIT: And why do you need tears of denial when you don't proc it? Is it for the purpose of breaking the game?
He passes through a killbox then has to take an otherwise fatal fall. ToD proc gives you 1 hitpoint upon being reduced to 0 health, thus saving him from the fatal fall.
Anri's Sword heals a small amount per "tick" (every second or two). Equipping/Unequipping basically resets the timer on the ticks. So every equip heals, rather than waiting.
In my opinion i don't see it a real "speedrun", but a "glitch speedrun". Don't misunderstand, it was funny and it requires skill, but still i wanted to see a speedrun, since the title told that.
I'm fairly sure that the abyss watchers are needed to get to the boss after which I'm fairly sure is a lord of cinder required to get to the end. If he doesn't fight any bosses you have then assume glitches have been used to skip to save time.
+xOhhBeatz no. in a normal run you need to beat the three lords of cinder (abyss watchers, yhorm, aldrich) to even access lothric castle where the princes are located
+Kevin Gillie well actually no, you can access the castle early in the game by killing Emma in the area where the dancer fight is, and if you manage to beat the dancer, you can access lothric castle before even fighting vordt
Everyone needs to understand that you cannot say that it is not cheating to the people that counts advantageous glitches as cheating, because technically you are skipping the game's challenges through unintended means. What you should do is to explain that it's a Any% Speedrun that allows any in-game "cheats/glitches/exploit", and write it in full "Any% Speedrun" everytime you write it, don't just write it's a speedrum. Because if you just write speedrun people that are new are going to assume that all speedruns are just legit speedruns, and when their expectations are not met they get mad, and then you get mad because they are mad at something you like, and everything starts to go to sh%t
Oh my Gwyn this is absolutely goddamn hilarious. The glitch shenanigans are strong. Imagine what must have been going through Aldrich's head as he died.
He took off all his equipment. The lower your equip load, the lower the fall damage. It's a very small difference in the grand scheme of things, but it makes that specific fall survivable.
Alex it's not heal, it's the weapon art of the chime, which regens some hp.. i guess he wanted the more hp for the next segment, or he needed to be full health/having a certain ammount of hp for something i can't tell you (since i'm not too much into dks3 speedrun)... anyway, it was just a timesaver (1/2 sec insted of drinking/waiting the elevator to go down)
I'm trying to replicate what he is doing on the last patch does anyone know how to get the catacombs to load that is the only problem I'm having and it would be much appreciated if somebody could answer
Splits in DS3 are measured using the actual in-game clock, so by quitting the game he essentially skips the door/gate opening animation. Even though it takes more time irl to quit the game and load back in, he's saving time on the run.
Thanks, but there's not a door there on the undead settlement, right before the multi story room full of assassins. I was wondering if that too is a skip or something
I'm sorry, I was thinking of the wrong spot. There are a couple places where he hard exits and reloads to break monster aggro, that's one of those. You can get completely trapped in that doorway if you get caught from behind as the guy inside turns the corner
why does he stop the time while in main menu? is it like that in every ds3 speedrun? because on other speedruns u never stop the time, even if the game dies
no not in real time but they measure time by the ingame timer, and the latter stops when quitting out, so he basically saves the seconds the door open in ingame time
I'm no pro speedrunning scientist but it seems like he would save about 2-3 seconds per door. What you have to understand though is that in speedruns every second is sacred. In the end of the run even a millisecond can be the difference of a world record or 40 minutes of your life being wasted.
DragonHuman00 I know all that, I quite like speed running and watching good runs, I just haven't got darksouls 3 so I'm new to all the skips and timesavers in it.
The timer at the right is sincronized with the in-game time. If you exit while your character is opening a door when you re-enter the door will be open but the time taken normally to open the door won't be counted. You can see the timer and the in-game timer are linked when sometime the last number in the timer at the right costantly change while he is in the menu. This happens while the in-game timer is mid second (0.015) the timer will glitch until the in-game timer continue
razeeltif I think it's something in his split program designed to compensate save and quit loading times. It's likely to make times more fair, as not everyone has a top notch computer.
I'm not a speedrunner myself, love DS3 tho. I was just wondering why you quit and continue every now and then? Does it activate a glitch or something? As i said, i am not a speedrunner so i don't know these tricks. But i enjoy watching speedruns
If it were possible to glitch directly from the start to the end and kill lord cinder in 30 seconds while he just stood there, would that be considered an any % speed run?
snow man Yes the phrase "Anything goes" is literally in the definition. Not meaning to sound like a prick just emphasizing the point. So yes it would count and the new world record would be 30 seconds and any runner after that would need to get 29 less. That's always the risk with this category.
Then why not just play the end credits and do 0% for a 0 second record? Actually, there is nothing in the rules that says there is a minimal amount you have to do, so I don't even need to play the game at all to get 0%. Therefore, I now hold the world record at this for 0% in 0 seconds. Not only that, I hold the world record for the future second DLC for 0% at negative 6 months time (assuming it comes out in July). I also hold the world record for DS4, for 0% at negative two years. Same with bloodborne 2. 0% at negative 3 years.
snow man If you just play the end credits it wouldn't really be a speed run because there was no game you ran in the first place. You have to start playing the game before you finish it. If there was a glitch that allowed you to phase through a wall and run through the entire level to fight the final boss then yes that would be acceptable. However, most games progress through events, that's why speed runners need to stop an grab items. Sometimes, grabbing a certain item will trigger an event that will unlock the next area so they can glitch through. A good example is killing the final boss triggers the end credits, you can't just glitch to the credits, they need to be triggered. So the concept of the run still exists.
Ok, so if you could glitch to the end and kick him off the cliff, finishing in 5 seconds, then that would be a valid run. I'm really intrigued by this concept, it seems the less content you do, the faster and so therefore it's desirable to do the least possible to finish. I'm just trying to figure out what is the fastest possible you could do it. What if you designed a bot that could do it, is that a valid competitor? Kind of like Big Blue of chess. I know in diablo 2, they have bots that play the game, so why not DS?
It has a health regen effect. Every time you equip the weapon, it triggers the health regen (which usually only happens every second or so), meaning that if you keep switching it on/off, you regen a lot of health while running or something.
I find the glitches used to be more jaw dropping than the time it takes these people to beat the game. Like seriously, who the hell figures these things out and the extent to which they can be used? This guy traveled across 90% of the game outside it's boundaries.
Unfortunately, the only other option i see in regards to the knights on the grand stairway would be to run up in airwalk mode and use the elevator on the right. However, this would then require a much longer run to the new elevator from the grand archives bonfire. Plus I'm not sure if that would necessarily be safer. Yeah, I think you have this routed out pretty much perfectly. Incredible run, man! Glad you got it in before patch XD
Clerics can use Tears of Denial (the spell he uses to glitch his way through some of the map and bosses) with their starting level of faith, means souls can be put into more useful stats when he buys Tears of Denial.
Fire keeper: the world will be plunged into darkness unless we get the heads of all five lords of cinder

Pathetic. I finished it in 32. Granted that it was hours but still, 32 is 32.
come back when you have proof lol

Jacob Arevalio 32 hours isn't a very good accomplishment so I don't think he needs proof to make a joke

32 pfff pathetic. i finished the character screen in 32 days.
3:00 did he just snipe the crystal lizard with a fucking firebomb?
Yep
that is DISGUSTING
i know right?
yes
And nobody in the chat cares or notices that. Wow.
He beat the game in 36 minutes when it took me 5 hours to beat nameless king I cry inside every time
Woodyseth1 Woodward but you play normal and fight the enemys lvl up, loot he just basicly runs away from anything, and only fight what he must fight, big difference! And dont be sad :D For me it took 11 hour to get to the RoS :)
Except he also did an all bosses speedrun in 1:06:55 seconds so...yeah we can still feel bad.
Seth Woodward GL at Friede my friend :D
took me 8 for greatwood, not gonna mention my time on consumed king
consumed king was hard, sam? :P
Every boss in DS3 have one thing in common... hug their legs and most of their attacks wont hit you and you can hit them... those bosses are somewhat harder that either dont have legs (aldrich) or have moves that hit if you are too close.
Oceiros was pretty easy if one just hugs the legs all the time and avoids to the sides when he charges.... first time when i was on him it took a while to get it right but second time around (many months after) i defeated him in less than 5 tries. (2 days ago)
Funny thing about nameless king is that most new people try to attack the legs of the wyvern... so they make it burst fire and literally 2-3 shot if you dont run away... but if you only attack the head, not only does it take more damage, he will never use the fire... hard part is the last phase where i still die often while trying to help people. :D

I am glad to see you updated the title of this video to "former" world record, since I hold the world record at it for 0% in 0 seconds. Thank you for complying.
Those out of bounds skips kinda show how nicely whole world is connected. Also aldrich fight was amazing. Nice run man.
Whenever i watch any% speedruns - or any other category with glitch usage - i always wonder "how the hell did someone even discover this"?
Daniel Suzuki Silva I assume via data mining
Daniel Suzuki Silva usually its by accident, or fucking around with the game trying to see for glitches.
Jiggsaw Puzzle Somebody must have a lot of time on their hands to find these glitches... A LOT, and get lucky
CommanderSh!mi X lol yea
Data mining wouldn't really be too helpful, but yeah, mostly by accident or by experimentation. Discovering that Tears can sometimes save you from long falls, spots where you can land before falling into a killzone, etc. are all easily discovered by accident, for example.

Welcome to the current age of Speedrunning ,Dark souls, 3 where It's faster to fight Princes before Abyss Watchers.
Is there any reason to grab/switch to the Saint's Talisman now that you start as cleric and have a chime to begin with, or is that just out of habit?
I think Saint's talisman scales better overall, I'm not really sure though
he needs to go that way anyway to grab that fire keeper. I believe it has a better effect at healing than the cleric talisman
Maybe he needs the unfaltering prayer WA for the skips but i'm not sure
Tears of Denial isn't affected by scaling, and talismans don't have the Gentle Prayer skill. He even still keeps the chime in his offhand for healing. It's hardly a huge deal, maybe a second wasted at most in picking up and equipping it, but hey, it's free time
I think it's because of the cast animation time for the chime, being slower than the talisman
The current wr is 35:44 I believe and it was done by nemz38. Thumbs up so people can see
Carlos Gonzalez but Dist is much better to watch...
Carlos Gonzalez Pretty sure Distortion beat the WR now
40:48 a guy in the comment thing says "RUclips will never know I'm gay" well he was WRONG
To everyone saying it isn't legit please die it's any%. Also if you don't think he is good, he's has the records for "All Bosses" run on every souls game except ds and DeS
soulsborne or just souls?
xLIB_ yes he has a record for Bloodborne just not Dark souls, or Demon souls
ok. I'm aware of what you meant by "ds" and "DeS" lol, I was just wondering if your interpretation of a souls game included Bloodborne
watch the video again, he says himself its not legit when he beats Aldrich :-) but he surely has skills, those bosses he does fight looks easy..
anthony zepeda why say please die :(
I like how you take what you do seriously, but you also seem fun to hang around. Keep up the good runs, Dist.
meanwhile, 36 mins and i'm still creating my character
WTF I used regular attacks to kill yhorm
Timesoutforyou Smith in his boss arena theres is an item called storm ruler take , equip , and charge the weapon art and use it on him
Shane Mckinney same here It took me 30 minutes to kill yhorm... but I got gud though. c:
Legit was fun doing it though
My friends barely told me about that sword after I beat yhorm with Astoria Greatsword. Was a pure melee build haha
I didn't know how to use the swords special move cause I was too newb, just summoned help to kill it >_
28:51 the pause timer failed
How did you even notice that?
Holy shit yes that changed like 7 secs. but why? isnt it automated?
I'm so glad I was there to watch this one!

Yeah Congrats Dist! :) Keep it up!
When I first got this game it was my first Souls game. It took 5 hours to beat Gundyr

Glitches that make speed runs like this possible. Don't hate on him for it though this was still and amazing run.
Nah man I'm not like those losers in the chat, was just wondering if there was a reason for it.
1. Congrats. You got gud. 2. How do people even find this out of bounds bullshit in these games?
People have a lot of time trying to find a single broken file in the game, it's all patched though.
Well you spend a ton of time rolling/jumping in walls and shit, jumping of edges to see where the death floor is and if there is a way to glitch out the "falling" animation into getting stuck... stuff like that.
Its sad when companies fix it afterwards though, it ruins speed running a bit if you ask me...
having to find a old version of the game so you can continue to run it blows...
magnaxilorius i remember for bloodborne and the very big skip, it got discovered like what, one week after release?
Can someone explain please why Storm Ruler do not reduce Focus Cost?
When I encountered Yhorm first time I just haven't got enough FC to you sword
And in this run it didn't use FC at all...
why does speed runners quit out of the game when they open up some doors?
to lose aggro from mobs
oh ok
And save some seconds as well
The game calculates the in-game time spent on a character and that time is what defines the actual time of the run. When you go to select your character it will have time played on their profile. The game doesn't factor in loading screens so whenever he has to do something with a required animation (opening doors) it's faster to quit out because you can skip the animation and you don't lose any time in the loading screen. you sir are a true dark souls veteran nice job
At 2:52 why does he throw 2 firebombs?
Matt Valcarcel kill the crystal lizard and get the twinkling stone thing
ah i gotcha.
It's almost like the rooftops and buttresses of Anor Londo were designed specifically for these glitches...
Why wouldn't it make sense to just not allow speed runners to exit to the menu to save time, I understand they try to compensate for the fact that some people have faster/slower computers by pausing and unpausing, but why not just open the door? I was thinking the exact same thing.
Cody Lowe They are saving time spent on using the character, as the timer for the character doesn't count loading screens. It also de-aggros mobs.
Ahh, that makes sense.
You killer.
Great job, really impressive !
Pleb: "This streamer can't even beat the game without heating I'm leaving."

Alex Dagos Doesnt he also hold the record for all bosses, completely legitamately?
I don't understand. What's the current world record? I can't seem to find on youtube.
Can I make a request? A dung pie run?
mom: you only have 36:43 minutes to play!
son: challenge accepted
*43:33 because of quitouts
The most broken part of this run was still poise
This was awesome! I was wondering if someone could explain to me what all the quitting to menu and reloading does? I get that it obvious has a purpose but I'm not completely sure what it is?
Unless you scrubs in the comments can beat Soul of Cinder at SL 48 with the same setup you don't get to call this bad.
How'd you skip the first bonfire travel after placing all the Souls in their thrones? You know when you go back to the bonfire and the firekeeper walks over but you just selected the bonfire and immediately warped to the one in front of Soul of Cinder instead of having to walk through the "alternate reality" Firelink Shrine and warp from the bonfire outside the Shrine to get to the Soul of Cinder bonfire.
noob here, why did he level up luck so much?
Joke or serius?
+Nitred he said noob here.. so he's probably serious bud
Because leveling up luck in Dark Souls 3 also increases your luck in real life and he needed it for the run
anri's straight sword has ridiculous luck scaling and it's best way for speed runners to get an effective weapon early on
I think it stacks bleed in addition to what others have said. Or has some strong effect on it. You'll notice sometimes the boss will make a splashing noise and blood will spurt out. They've suffered from blood loss I think.
Woah woah woah, that twinkling titanite at about 3:00, where'd it come from?
He was throwing those firebombs at a Crystal Lizard. It died and gave him the twinkling titanite
No way, there's a lizard up there? How have I never noticed this?!
He threw 2 Bombs at a Crystal Lizard behind the shrine.
+Skye The Bunny There's lizard there which you can see it when you're at the rooftop.
Am I the only one to not find a glitchy speedrun interesting ?
then leave dude, noones making you watch this. go be closed minded somewhere else.
what I did ;)

You must be new to speedruns.
Glitches are used in pretty much every speedrun ever save for those who explicitly try to do them without glitches.
***** "they disagree"
well, they're objectively wrong.
Speed run means trying to do something as fast as possible, by any means.
it requires skill, it requires speed, it's a speedrun, nothing 0.1% more or less than that and always that.
wait I haven't finished the game yet, I'm at abyss watchers.. in a normal run do you not fight abyss watchers before yhorm or the princes?
I'm fairly sure that the abyss watchers are needed to get to the boss after which I'm fairly sure is a lord of cinder required to get to the end. If he doesn't fight any bosses you have then assume glitches have been used to skip to save time.
yeah good point. thanks!
+xOhhBeatz no. in a normal run you need to beat the three lords of cinder (abyss watchers, yhorm, aldrich) to even access lothric castle where the princes are located
+Kevin Gillie well actually no, you can access the castle early in the game by killing Emma in the area where the dancer fight is, and if you manage to beat the dancer, you can access lothric castle before even fighting vordt
xOhhBeatz i mean yeah but i wouldnt say trying to beat the dancer anytime before youre supposed to is "normal"
Title says any%
Read title first crybaby.
wait is this new think stop timer when you exit game(loading screen) for speed run should be included? its stilll you wasithing time to skip time
Dimitar Kolev it's so that people with not as good pc's still have a fair chance
anthony zepeda olllllllllllllllllll yeeee good point never think of that yee that make alot of sense and fairness
8:57 I did the same run till this point and I die from fall damage... any idea why?
SeboIIon not sure. If you roll out of a fall you take less damage
SeboIIon equipment load does effect fall damage, so maybe you had armor equipped?
You got fast loadings only of ssd, or is there any other trick besides it, like messing with gamefiles or something?
I think it's BC he using a PC with really good internet
Sick run Dist, I'm supprised that cleric is the starting class
I wish one day i can do runs like you omfg ! Keep it up !
Why does he keep equiping/unequiping Anri's straight sword when he's put of bounds? This question may sound stupid but i've never played this game.
Because you get small amount of hp when you do that.
Miki Voutilainen Oooh, ok then.
He Got Gud
Oh my Gwyn this is absolutely goddamn hilarious. The glitch shenanigans are strong. Imagine what must have been going through Aldrich's head as he died.
Well done on the new world record
Distortion is just DESTROYING ds3! Keep it up dude!
P.S. I believe in the under 30 run.
How'd you skip the area leading to the Kiln?
at about 9:00, Why does he get so little damage from falling? I always lose like 900 hp on the second drop he did o0
He took off all his equipment. The lower your equip load, the lower the fall damage. It's a very small difference in the grand scheme of things, but it makes that specific fall survivable.
okey, so theres atleast that reason to lower equip load. Cool^^
Why is the split timer and the in-game time the same at the end? How does that make any sense?
As soon as the last split stops, the time of that last split matches the final time. Simple as that.
becuase the in game tier also doesnt time laoding screens but only the time you actually spend in game.
why cast Heal while at full health before dropping off that house? 08:20
and on the elevator...
Alex it's not heal, it's the weapon art of the chime, which regens some hp.. i guess he wanted the more hp for the next segment, or he needed to be full health/having a certain ammount of hp for something i can't tell you (since i'm not too much into dks3 speedrun)... anyway, it was just a timesaver (1/2 sec insted of drinking/waiting the elevator to go down)
nicolapodgornik oh ok thank you
I'm trying to replicate what he is doing on the last patch does anyone know how to get the catacombs to load that is the only problem I'm having and it would be much appreciated if somebody could answer
Just wow bravo for breaking you record love you videos
Why do you exit and reload in undead settlement just after running past the gate?
Trying to figure out why he picks up the Saint's Talisman. Doesn't the starting Chime work for casting Tears?
Maybe it has a faster casting speed? idk
The chime moves him forward and messes with his spacing for the teardrop skip. He needs to fall just right or he'll end up dying again anyway.
He doesnt like how the chime moves you forward slightly
Is the Covetous Silver Serpent ring not worth picking up?
nah the silver serpent ring combined with shield of want only adds up 1 or 2 levels that are really not worth
What's the point? Most of the souls he's getting are from selling physical souls. I doubt the extra 10% would even result in one level
why does he stop the time while in main menu? is it like that in every ds3 speedrun? because on other speedruns u never stop the time, even if the game dies
DO these glitches still apply? i wanna try becoming fire
Nah. It's been patched.
why does he exit and the reload the game at most doors? im assuming time? but it cant save THAT much time
no not in real time but they measure time by the ingame timer, and the latter stops when quitting out, so he basically saves the seconds the door open in ingame time
+Kaiser King ahh got it. thanks
How much time does that actually save per door though?
I'm no pro speedrunning scientist but it seems like he would save about 2-3 seconds per door. What you have to understand though is that in speedruns every second is sacred. In the end of the run even a millisecond can be the difference of a world record or 40 minutes of your life being wasted.
DragonHuman00 I know all that, I quite like speed running and watching good runs, I just haven't got darksouls 3 so I'm new to all the skips and timesavers in it.
What does it do when he equips and unequips Anri's Straight Sword??
regenerates a small bit of health every time
Squiggy2010 thanks!
Once you've got all the best tactics down, could you do a speedrun tutorial? I would love to replicate this run for myself :P
I'm new to the whole speed running scene and I was just wondering why he keeps equipping and unequipping the straight sword over and over
Anri's Straight Sword regens 2hp a second, But just by equiping it gives 2 hp, So spamming equip gives back a ton of hp
+Potato oh okay sweet, thank you
awesome game play footage. takes balls to speed run dark souls.
So what is with constantly quitting the game during the run? Just curious more than anything
saves ingame-time
How though? Is the door opening sequence that much longer than exiting the game and restarting?
The timer at the right is sincronized with the in-game time. If you exit while your character is opening a door when you re-enter the door will be open but the time taken normally to open the door won't be counted. You can see the timer and the in-game timer are linked when sometime the last number in the timer at the right costantly change while he is in the menu. This happens while the in-game timer is mid second (0.015) the timer will glitch until the in-game timer continue
why cleric? and why 2hand the weapon at the start? it gives you like what? +4 ar? but drains your stamina more.
poise damage
what is the point of exiting the game when you're opening a door? is it to save time? cause from what it seems to me it's either slowly or no faster
Vile Mushroom Resets enemies.
Vile Mushroom the timer cuts off at load screens and restarting skips the door animation
why the timer DECREASES during reloading the game ?
razeeltif I think it's something in his split program designed to compensate save and quit loading times.
It skips the door opening animations
My first thought when you went under the map was "In the words of jontron, Whaaaaaaaaat?"
good job Dist
How do you feel about the denial patch? rip the speed runs.
NICE SPEED RUN! :D
that sword you used?
anri's straight sword
you are amazing, really WP!
Technically speaking yes.
Any reason why you equip an unequip anri's sword?
It has a health regen effect. Every time you equip the weapon, it triggers the health regen (which usually only happens every second or so), meaning that if you keep switching it on/off, you regen a lot of health while running or something.
Quick question, could you bait a boss to fall of a cliff?
Should i be playing darksouls with keyboard mouse or a controller
YoungYoungYoung controller. It makes the games sooooooo much easier.
Now that I look at it, why don't you 2-hand Anri's at the Princes? Is the moveset too slow or something?
2 handing light weapons is not worth it, the stamina consumption is way higher, the damage increase is almost none and the move set is slower
Ah, thanks for clarifying!
+TheBigHaloFreak No problem
I'm not terribly into DS3 speedrunning, but why are you picking cleric instead of assassin like you used to?
Clerics can use Tears of Denial (the spell he uses to glitch his way through some of the map and bosses) with their starting level of faith, means souls can be put into more useful stats when he buys Tears of Denial.
I'm annoyed I missed this stream :c
Good job though Dist!
