Ladies, I'm giving all my tips and tricks to packing light, and how to pack for one year with only one carry-on! Intentional living and minimalism allow for light travel. If you are planning a trip, this is a MUST watch HOW TO video. Happy travels!
As a former international flight attendant, I quickly learned that the military roll worked the best. Tip: if you have something that wrinkles easily, place a plastic dry cleaner plastic bag on the garment before you roll it up. It really works!
Love your videos. I have always been a minimalist and after 60 years, I still have only the clothing that fits in a carryon plus a hiking boot, a dressy sandal and a water walking sandal. We spent three years after retirement living in a 23' class C motorhome and can pack all our household goods and personal affects into 4 plastic bins! Love the lifestyle!! Thank you for promoting mindfulness💖
I was traveling with two pairs of shoes when sticking to hot tropical climates. Now that we've added snowy destinations, I added in a pair of winter boots, for 3 pairs of shoes. 🌺Heidi
I have traveled light for a couple of weeks. The laundry planning made it easy, my pack was actually pretty small! If I were going for a year, I’d cut it to three shoes. I don’t hike, so a really good pair of sneakers would suffice. A pair of sandals for dressy/hot weather option. A pair of crocs for back-up/shared shower/beach stuff. And I have to have more pajamas, but often i have soft shorts that could also be workout/beachwear, and the top could just be a few thin tanks, also good for layering. Multi-functional does the trick!
Shoes are certainly a personal choice. 4 weeks to the UK and I only need a pair of runners and a dressier pair. Wear one, pack one. You do have some useful tips here. 👏
have watched .many of your videos, I consider you as my roll model in life😊. I have many similarities with you in terms of values, life style, and fashion taste. Thank you so much for sharing!
I always use packing cubes and do a tight roll on clothes. This is best way I found to pack my clothes. Also I use shoe bags. I just can't put shoes in a suitcase without them. Your shoes have been outside and there is bad stuff on your shoe soles!
I just went to Spain for a week with a small cabin bag that had to fit under the seat. I filled the bag but was surprised and a little frustrated with myself when I realised I only wore less than half the clothes I took!! I’m going to be even more ruthless next time!!
Hi, Great packing tips. I would use shoe bags though as the streets you walk on I wouldn't want the soles touching rolled clothing 😳 Also...it helps keep the shape of shoes if some small rolled items in protective this plastic bags are placed inside shoe to retain shape. I recycle all plastic bags for shoes each trip. Happy travels 🙂
Gotta say as a “woman of a certain age” one pair of pjs doesn’t even work for me at home (night sweats can come from no where and be brutal). But the scarves idea is awesome. They are versatile and change up simple outfits to something more!!!
I love it! I am the woman who never can travel with carry on...I need you know at least 4 pair of shoes... high end dress for dinner and jogging pants etc...I make my family crazy xoxo
I agree w/ scarves !! Lol. I am not really a person wears scarves ,or a very handy to do different hairstyles ( I blow dry my hair real well ,though ! Lol. ) ,but I learned that scarves are great hair do necessities during the covid lockdowns !!! LOLLOLLOL My hair roots were going cray cray & my greys were showing wild !! So,I just put my favourite Italian rayon scarves ( they're silky ,I had bought 'em more than a decade ago !! I've got 2 ,one in '13 ? The other one in the '80's !!! )on my head & secured w/ bobbypins ! Voila !! Lol. And I went for grocery shopping like that !! Lol. Yes ! You're right !! They come so handy !!! Those are much shorter ones than you were talking about ,though.👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈🚈🚞💞
Yeah for a year, especially if I had to do some work events in there, I can't seem to get it under 4 (I PROBABLY could get it down to 3 but I don't think I'd be happy about it and likely end up buying another pair 😖)
I always travel with one backpack but sometimes it becomes crazy. For example: I tried to do laundry being on residence and it was raining literally every day - quite cold and humid weather. My clothes were WET 3 days in a row. I couldn't use them and They were slowly becoming stinky, it was so gross...! Now I take more clothes to not depend on laundry option. 2. I've bought a small hairdryer because no, not everywhere you can get one (I hardly ever can afford a hotel! And small camping huts have no such things, usually not even a bowl to make laundry so you have to wash in running water and it is not very effective.). Wearing my heavy gear clothes in 36° heat or even 30° would make me rather stay at home - I remember travelling 12 hours wearing my light clothes, I was almost fainting from heat, if I had to walk around between the trains and stations dressed up for winter I would probably end up on ER or - more likely - graveyard. I think it is best to have a sort of travel clothes set - more workout than natural fiber - they dry more quickly (but less comfortable to wear and not so good if you need to dress up really smart too often on your way - which is such an awful challenge I almost stopped travelling 😂 there was no way for me to avoid laundry, look smart, be comfortable, have my hair dry when I wash it and not die from overheating in a way - I truly admire all the people who still feel like going abroad! 😂😂) but anyway thanks for the video, it was useful with the tips :)
LOL... another tip I have for traveling. I left on a trip from Bali where I lived for some time. I needed to take more than what I could fit within the required weight limit....so I piled on the layers (11 items all up!) as extra clothing I wore through check-in and customs area. Then when I was in the waiting lounge area, I headed straight to the toilets to take off those layers which I put into my carry on luggage. I melted on the way to the airport in the hot Bali heat, but it was all I could think of to take all I needed for the trip to Australia 🙂
To travel for a year… I’d take boots for sure if I am gonna be somewhere that is cold. If not just a pair of trainers and sandals. Flip flops to use in showers, but I don’t like walking in them. Toiletries: tooth brush, toothpaste in tab form, floss, a shampoo-soap bar, menstrual cup, deodorant cream). I only wear leggings and they are light weight, so maybe 4? Some can be used to do sports. Two of them short for when it is hot. Also to sleep in. Since I like oversized t-shirts, they are not in much contact with the armpits, so 3, and a couple of tank tops. You can use any as pijamas. Oh, one long sleeve one. 2 pullovers. 5 pairs of socks: 1 pair would be thick in case you are going somewhere cold, the rest just normal ones and a pair of ankle socks. Underwear: I think 5 is enough. Maybe even less. I’d wash them by hand daily. I don’t normally wear bras, would take one bralette to do sports or to use under a tank top. I’d like to get one of those jackets that are warm but can also be compressed. I am not into fanciness so no dresses or anything.
Shoes: trainers for walking, town or country. Wear trainers for travelling.Flip -flops for beach, pool, shower and as daytime house shoes. They pack flat. Look for lightweight and soft soles. Lightweight flat slippers, so cosy in the evening. Crocs do a superb slipper, highly recommended, featherlight, washable, indoor/outdoor soles, totally flat and they pack easily. Optional: a city or more dressy shoe or sandal, depending on destination.
Hello Connie, just found your channel and am really enjoying it. Thank you. Could you pls share the name of the grey suitcase roll on you show in the video? Thank you very much.
Hi Im just curious why you talk so differently in your videos, in some you are full of animated zest and energy and in others you are considerably more low key and peaceful. Did something occur that changed your personality?

These are great tips for me too! I don't have a lot of stuff so I'm lucky.
Thank you! I'm glad you found it useful
Great Information. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.

Yes, scarfs are a travel must have.
Why not a pair of shoes in the space between the bars for the roll handle?
I love it! I am the woman who never can travel with carry on...I need you know at least 4 pair of shoes... high end dress for dinner and jogging pants etc...I make my family crazy xoxo
Only four shoes is really good!

Really enjoying your videos. Your presentation is great and informative too.
It's so hard to find a similar duffle roller like yours. It's perfect!
It's from Target. I bought it many years ago.
Thanks!!!! Liked it very much!!!!
I always travel with a carry on. So much easier

Hi! Do you have a link to the brown leather belted duffle in your screen pic?
Sorry Denise, I've had it for so long, I can't remember where I got it.

LOL!!! I love this travel story! We have had to do the same thing a few times. Thanks for sharing!
Hi thanks for your nice vid. My English is not good, but I couldn’t hear Shirts or blouses?
Great info 👍
Fabulous suggestions!

Hello Connie you have a great channel - thanks for sharing. Would you do a video of your wardrobe?
Great idea! I'll put it on the list for future videos
Hello Connie, just found your channel and am really enjoying it. Thank you. Could you pls share the name of the grey suitcase roll on you show in the video? Thank you very much.
Hi Naida, I bought it at Target several years ago. It's been a great carry on for me.
As far as traveling for a year and footwear, do say the same 4 pairs should be fine!
Would love to get that carry on. What brand is it and where did you buy it? I follow all your videos. Am addicted!
Thanks so much for watching Norma. The carry on is from Target. It is their basic brand. Happy travels!
Not sure we have a Target in Canada. Maybe I’ll find it on line. Of course, I’ll have to send all those suitcases in the crawl space packing!!
Thanks.
I only own a winter boot and a pair of sneakers that I wear every day.
Hi! What is the brand name of you sneakers?
They are Teva for women.
Wondering what the brand name of your boots are? 🤔
The boots I pack are Fry.
I think 4 pairs of shoes for a year will work
😅😊😊❤❤
Hi Im just curious why you talk so differently in your videos, in some you are full of animated zest and energy and in others you are considerably more low key and peaceful. Did something occur that changed your personality?
It was a car accident that changed Connie's life - she created a video on it.
That's called being human.
You left out tech bag!
Underwear?
