Im glad this interview was done from the waist up.
The last interview I saw with a Dave from Megadeth was from the washed up
lmaooo 🤣🤣😁
Lmao
dave was a HUGE part of the megadeth sound, killer bass riffs, lots of bass intros carried the banner
Isn't this that great cristian guy that messes with underage girls on the internet?
A Monkey could do his job.
@@who0icu812Dave was that monkey and could not do his job. Maybe a crab?
Every bass lick you know from Megadeth was written by Mustaine
@@who0icu812 Then show us how it's done bro.
Dave’s the man! Huge influence on me as a kid in the late 80’s.
I've been inspired to take music seriously because of megadeth.
Seeing how things are between members is a shame but a harsh reality to the business to be apart of for a multitude of reasons.
Many of which I discovered on my own moving out west and finding certain musicians at one point in time which unfortunately fell apart due to selfish perceptions of members within the band and my own weight of having to carry the band while being extremely unstable (I was 22)
Listening to Dave's words is almost like hearing a familiar friend, one of which I wish i had in my life during those times.
I'm so glad he's still alive , it's harsh watching your heros grow old and be drifted apart. Even so , to those who have passed gar , cliff , menza... it would've been nice to hear what they would've had to say or even just any words to the fans. Music is a harsh industry , but I still say without the challenges there isn't a way to overcome or grow.
thank you, Dave E is awesome! I am glad that he still can do the things he loves.
I totally remember seeing these guys live on the Rust in Peace tour at the Enmore Theatre on 7th of February 1991. One of the best concerts ever! Down the front near to the stage but not too close, just far enough to enjoy it immensely
I was there too
Mr Bungle just toured off their first album and the crowd loved it. Lombardo played drums and they threw in a couple of covers, making a great show.
@@brandonkindt1205 The support act was Mortal Sin not Mr Bungle, were you even there that night?
@@ThatmetalmanAu Awesome night that one, got to see two great acts in one. Mortal Sin and Megadeth, fond memories indeed!
Yes it was clash of the titans with Slayer and anthrax . I seen them in Sacramento Ca
This is a huge interview. Congratulations on getting this
yesss.....dave is really good on the webcam......................
not that huge, the guy and his cover band plays pizza huts.

I loved this interview, especially the ending when he talked about Pantera. I too have always loved Cemetary Gates. It is an epic song. But Vulgar was just one of the best, most original heavy metal/hard rock albums of all time.
I love, "In My Darkest Hour," from So Far, So Good, So What. Peace Sells and Countdown are two of the best albums. But my favorite has to be Rust In Peace. I'm guessing if one did a poll, this would come out on top lol. But Dave seems like a very personable, cool dude. Rock on brother!
My favorite from him was on Lucretia. His bass tone was great. Dave said his favorite bass tone was on Cryptic Writtings album.
epic!
Shure does, that Jackson bass, Hartke speakers.. I use the same gear. Sounds awesome.
Lucretia has a savage bassline. Victory is an a mazing all around track too.
And the Peace Sells intro. MTV couldn't pass on it.
First time I saw Megadeth was at the Metro in Chicago in 85. Wild show.
Dave you are a legend . Rust in pesce era is etched in my brain forever. You will always be megadeth same as mustaine. Keep thrashing bro your the best.
Great interview, am a fan of Dave Ellefson and consider him one of the best metal bassists.
Mustaine tries to "lessen" Ellefsons importance in Megadeth... like he sucks or something. Elefson is a solid metal guitarists. Every metal band wishes they had a bass player just like him!
Dave is an absolute legend. A great bassist and a good person. I met him (very briefly) in the early nineties (Melbourne, Australia) for an autograph signing and he was awesome.
Virgin Mega Store?
will this dude ever just go away...
He lived thru showing his weener on webcam and so no, nothing can kill him now
It's obvious Ellefson could have been an incredible businessman, but chose metal instead. He kind of strikes me as someone that made it halfway through law school and said "fk it! I'm moving to LA!"
David should STFU about Megadeth. He did something dumb, and he paid the price.
Everyone loves Kings of Thrash. When's new album dropping? Put Chris Poland and Jeff Young both on the tour.
Thank you Mr. Ellefson from a fan since 1986! 🤘🤘
23:12 got me emotional
This story tells me that DIme could be as sincere as Phil when it comes to art
Fuckin amazing
Still have my ticket stub for the Rust in Peace tour Festival Hall Brisbane and watched from about 4 people back standing middle of stage.🤘
By the way, he still have a voice that fits with podcasts and TV shows, what a tone
I was glad to see the Sr and Jr Megadeth era on the 2013 Gigantour and that day was Chris Roderick's birthday. It was cool for the entire stadium to sing happy birthday to him
We need a David vs Dave boxing match.
I dig it man. So Far, So Good, So What is my 2nd fav Megadeth album behind Rust In Peace.
Ellefson is such a great story teller., musician, and over all dude. Megadeth made a big mistake firing him.
What would you have done if your bandmate got publicly implicated in a confirmed sickening case with an underage girl ? ? ? You gotta either save your ass, or keep the one guy who might destroy everything you build, with so much hard work, in your life, because of his unjustifiable actions. There's a huge difference between making a mistake, and doing an immoral act. And you know what ? I - also - would have liked him being still in the band, but some tough choices are need to be made, and some things are not negociable. Peace !
She wasn't underage and he was black mailed. You stand by your buds when grifters try and tear them down, not take the opportunity to stab them in the back. @@Madridista_7_
He really likes to be on camera 😂
Love you Dave! You changed the game brother.

Love Ellefson. My favourite Bassist apart from Muse's Chris. Megadeth ain't Megadeth without Ellefson. Tarnished Megadeth's legacy with all the band changes
This Dave is much better than the other Dave.
I did see Rust in Peace in 92 or whenever I was 18 or so, front row, incredible!
You would think Ellefson would have a crazy phobia of webcams considering it cost him his career the last time he used one pfftt! 😅
He's probably jacking it during the interview... 😂😂😂
What do you mean exactly?

I was waiting for him to relive the moment: whip it out and have a pull during the interview.
Seriously though, good interview and good insight. The Sydney gig was killer!
I'm going to see Megadeth at bloodstock next month but it won't be the same without ellefson. I also saw them in London touring the United abomination album. Missed out then too. He inspired me to pick up the bass. Countdown was the first album I ever got addicted to when I was about 12 and I love all of the earlier stuff. I feel cheated!! 🤣
He did save Megadeth with his gigantic amount of intellectual contributions for 13 and Supercollider😅
I'M GLAD I GOT TO SEE THEM IN THEIR PRIME CLICKING ON ALL CYLINDERS ON THE YOUTHANASIA TOUR WITH NICK, MARTY & THE DAVES....IMO IT WENT SOUTH AFTERWARDS ALBUM AFTER ALBUM....
Thank the god's that Dave "the peter beater" Ellefson wasn't trying to beat off to the interviewer...

I just don't understand how you can claim Christianity and have founded a church called Megalife and be married then get outed for doing what he did, plus he says Nergal is a friend, but isn't Behemoth Satanic as fuck? I respect Ellefson as a musician but what the fuck???
Nergal doesn't even believe in the existence of Satan, he's an atheist. Behemoth use satanic imagery to be edgy, that's it.
@@FuckRUclipsAndGoogle Black Sabbath and Slayer did that. Behemoth seems like the real deal.
@ryanhudson1252 That's because you don't know what you're talking about. Newsflash, Black Sabbath and Slayer aren't the only bands to do that, Venom did it even before Slayer. The VAST majority of "Satanic" bands are atheistic.
@@FuckRUclipsAndGoogle even if that's the case, what difference does it make? Stop try to act like you got something to say.
Dave E. Was the only other member of Megadeth that was consistent for years. At this point Dave M. Should rename the band to Dave and the hired Guns.
Kiko has been in the band longer than any guitarist other than Marty, and will probably pass him soon. Dirk is like 1.5 years away from being the longest tenured drummer in Megadeth... how is this not a consistent lineup?
Their is no Megadeth without Ellefson on Bass. I won’t go to a show til your on the stage. Swear🤘!
nobody misses you.
Then I guess you're never going to a show....
Getting to experience KIMB and SFSGSW albums live and in full warmed my metal heart. Those early Megadeth albums shaped my love of metal and I still love playing a lot of those riffs to this day. Harrisburg show was great!
Bro you upload video in sites what did you excep
So Far So Good... So What is their best album ever!
Kinda weird when you put his name as DAVE Ellefson. Being referred to as DAVID all this time. Am I missing anything?
Count how many times he says "You know" haha, it's a lot you know😅😅😅😅
I've been a fan since 1992 when Countdown To Extinction dropped and I have been a fan ever since
Dang Dave, if i had to😮 take a shot everytime you said "ya know", I would of emptied the shelf at the liquor store. Lol
I support David Ellefson! He stood by Mustaine through ALL his shit. Only to get cast aside. People make mistakes, but David is a stand up guy! And thats rare!
Ow man. I love Pantera's Power Metal. It is my favorite Pantera album and it has been since I've first heard it in 1993. And yeah - "Peace sells" changed my life too. It was on of my favorite Megadeth Albums and is just a historic album.
Me too, Power metal forever
Really Power Metal? Death Trap was killer.
Power Metal is one of my favourite Pantera albums I hate how little those old Phil albums don't seem to be apprecaited. Some of Phil's most insane singing and Dime's playing is incredible of course.
Heard he switched from Jackson to Jacksoff
lol
I legit almost spit my drink when I read this. Fantastic comment sir.
How could he put up with mustiane as Dave is a lifetime asshole

Ha ha got some trem
Bust in Peace
Dave Ellefson hit the nail on the head by the hammer about wannabes like the one in me.
The simple factor of how I have gotten where I am.
If you stay where you are you will go far; I don't know where I got that one, but it sticks.
When I run from my problems, then the twists come back ten-fold just like a boomerang! [1] more thing: social-media sucks. If you listen to the truth you get no lies. Especially when a rock star shoots from the hip! 🤟|Bones
As somebody that got to sit down and talk with Dave Ellefson it is difficult to grasp how he put up with Mustaine all of those years. Dave E. is a good, solid friend to have in your corner. Great interview.
Money, naive child. Plus everyone on Megadeth had big drug problems. Don't be a drama queen, Megadeth is Mustaine at the end of the day, the successes and failures... you don't see Ellefson's behind being mauled by the media or in the mouths of spoiled fans 24/7. Ellefson is fantasizing his career like they were a structured band all this time... they weren't.
Or vise versa. He's no angel
how did you get david ellefson on a zoom call for an interview?
Cos he's Tom... everyone loves Tom.. he's world famous at gigs in Brisbane 😁😁
Love you too Tracy!
My favorite bass player he made sure he made the music better.
i would love to talk to ellefson about gar samuelson and chris poland all day, the kimb and psbwb days.. has anyone here ever seen deth live with gar and chris?
Can’t wait for that Nick Menza Doc!!
RIP Nick Menza
Playing those same 10 songs over and over again year after year was a great paycheck you know.
Can't wait to see you guys lash out with SFSGSW in Melbourne in a couple of weeks! My favourite album which is underrated as fuck!
SFSGSW>Peace Sells
There I said it .
@@brandonjackson5865it's not, you're wrong....but it is an overlooked amazing album.
@@hoofhearted6900 it’s definitely better than anyone gives it credit and some days I do like SFSGSW better than Peace Sells but Peace Sells has better production quality. I just really like the songs better on SFSGSW Liar, Hook in Mouth, In My Darkest Hour, Set the World Afire and Into the Lungs of Hell but what do I know I actually like Countdown to Extinction better than RIP . RIP is more important in the history of thrash and the band but just from my personal history, countdown was the first Megadeth album I got and it never gets old and it never gets too busy, I guess I prefer the more traditional song structures and tend to enjoy mid tempo thrash I like the slower Slayer albums even especially Devine Intervention
@@brandonjackson5865 What's your opinion on Kiko where does he rank in terms of best Megadeth guitarists.
@@Bacon4Rashers Man I really like him, he might be the best technical and theory wise player that’s ever been in the band. Marty is my favorite and the best to me , a lot of people say Poland was the best, and he’s phenomenal no doubt but if I had to list my favorites in order it’d probably be
1 Friedman
2 Kiko (he is great, can play the whole catalog and brings some exotic stuff like Marty)
3 Chris Poland (although honestly I probably couldn’t hum any of the solos from the albums he was on but those little fills and licks he threw in everywhere I could)
4 Jeff Young (small sample size but the little we got is incredible)
Wait , was this a trick question lol , Dave Mustaine is my favorite Megadeth guitarist.
The rest of the hired gun guys are all great players and Broderick might actually be more technically and mechanically the best players out of the bunch, but I didn’t care for him in Megadeth.
Kiko in my opinion is the best man for the job since Marty don’t want to do it anymore and also Kiko is a great ambassador with his vlogs.
Drummers I’d say Menza/Dirk and Gar, but Dirk plays Gar’s stuff better than Nick .
Kiko, Poland and Friedman I think are the best and it’s really personal preference out of those three, but I Friedman is my favorite then Kiko.
He wrote the best Bassline !! 👌🏼
Mustaine wrote Peace Sells
@shecklesmack9563 he dint write the iconic bassline ya plank 🎶
Was this before or after the CP
Gosh, what is indeed a lil disturbing is the endless repeating of...'you know'. At what point did he mention bout him leaving the band?
Take a shot every time he says "you know".
@@thrashpuppy2010 shot of whisky? 🤔🤪
@@Harry-lmao Yes
Honestly this feels like he's turning into Mustaine, always talking about bitter feelings towards his ex band and how much he contributed.
Not really.
He stayed like 38 years in all, and the breaking up is fresh
He just spoke his mind.
While beign much more measured than Dave Mustaine.
Dave is bitter for things that ended 40 years ago, while Lars was super supportive of Megadeth and big fan and hanging out with Dave by 1986-till all through the 90's'.
Except he isn't bitter and is just spitting facts while Dave lies through his rotten teeth and contempts metallica and gets away with it by playing sad and innocent with his 3/10 manipulating skills. You cannot compare the 2 at all mustaine is literally insane and a afflicted being.
How would you feel if u got kicked out of a company that u were heavily involved with suddenly.
U need to find ur way again right. Now ur older and more set in ur ways. U still have a lot of rock n roll left in u but u need to restart.
Except he isn’t a whining and conceited bitch about it like Mustaine is with Metallica. Ellefson is much more classy and as amicable and positive a person can be coming out of such a situation. Not to mention he doesn’t go out of his way to discredit people just because.
Did he actually say nobody else could have played the rust in peace album?
I like how some of the lesser known guys from Megadeth keep their mouths shut and just move on in life. The Drover brothers did and so did Check Behler and Gar Samuelson. They knew the fucked up,weren’t going to be invited back, and quietly moved on with their lives. I know there are way more members who did the same but these guys just come to mind
Definitely David Ellefson is a original member of Megadeth & his bass riffs are real no back tracking LoL
I liked OHM the best as players after Megadeth. Poland and Menza really added to Rock/Fusion.
Shame his no longer in megadeth he was such a big part of the band.
imo, ellefson was just as important member as anyone else in the band.
😂😂😂
No there were 4 pantera albums before cowboys from hell
Great interview brother U no let the person you're interviewing talk not a huge metel head by any means but I think 3 bands had a sound that was so unique they spornd heaps of outhers and that's Megadeth matallica and pantara and all had a heavy slap of motorhead peace and love lloydy
I got to see Dave in 1995 at a small club in Baltimore MD called Michaels 8th Ave dude was a stand up man he is solid. Megadeth played an amazing show!
Ellefson makes megadeth work. Mustaine is obviously the guy, but without Dave, it doesn’t have that magic to it
Glen Fricker or Dave Ellefson? You decide.
The correct answer was : " Yea I know I f'd up but I'm happy some people stood by me." You are cheating on your wife. Own up. Any bassist could have played Rust in Peace. Muscicianship around the world is up. The correct answer is anyone could have played RIP tour, not I'm the only person in the world.

Seems Like he Is Very Hands on with His Younger Followers……
Everybody just glazing over the fact he's a pervert and nearly a pedophile, let alone a cheater?
Its weird, he was a pastor as well. Sexting a girl about the same age as his daughter...
Oh We know, but those aren’t nearly enough to condemn him, or rather, not anymore because:
A: Who hasn’t had some sort of perversion they indulged in in their private life, his being made public out of spite.
B: He isn’t close to being a pedophile, much less a far gone sexual deviant because he’s not going after pre-pubescent children, or teens below legal age. The girl was a consenting adult, who started the sexual interaction after developing a friendship with him; so it wasn’t as if He was going around trying to pick out younger girls among his fans.
C: Cheating is certainly something to criticize, but in his case, not one criminalize him on. After all, they only exchanged nudes. And in spite of all this, the wife, who is more deserving to judge, is still with him and presumably has forgiven him.
In the end, Ellefson is someone who’s private life is not so uncommon nor something that could be condemned for (he’s not actively ruining lives, that’s for sure). He is every bit as human with mistakes as any of us that can be learned from (and he certainly has). Most of all, we have much respect for him as a musician and his massive contributions to a great band that brought joy to many; as a plus, also seems to be a decent human being and likeable person all things considered.
I understand the sentiments and feelings about his actions, but yeah.
My band needs a bass player boy we would love to have you dave .
Uh. Do you really want to touch anything he's touched?
Dave: Hey Dave, you wanna check out these demo tapes I've recorded?
Dave: Why not?
Dave: *noo not that tape!*
Dave: *Possibly, I've seen too much...*
There would be no Megadeth without Ellefson, and Dave Mustaine should know that if he doesn't know already. A band is not a one man show, it means that all are involved.
Dave sure can be long winded. Him and Jason Newsted can answer a question and by the end of the answer you’ve heard 20 names, 20 countries, and 20 years of information.
So glad this interview popped up on my feed today,I had no idea they were playing but as soon as I knew I stopped the vid and just scored some tickets, what a fuking god send !
The lineup with the Daves, Kiko and Dirk is probably the only line up since Friedman/Menza that could’ve probably gotten through Killing is My Business without tons of work and actually I think Dirk does a better job playing Gars stuff than Menza but Menza is my favorite Megadeth drummer the footage of Nick playing on the RIP tour smiling standing up waving his hands trying to pump up the crowd, that was a man who did what it took to land his dream job and he was loving it! Dave, Dave, Friedman, and Nick were a lean mean ass kicking machine ! I really think it’s unfortunate Junior isn’t in Megadeth right now but it sounds like it might have been time I sorta feel like Dave was looking for a reason maybe?
I get the same sentiment, probably tensions behind the scenes that had been building up for awhile. I think Mustaine seen the out he needed and ran with it, but then again Im just speculating.
@@juggernautnation369 who knows? I was really excited about the Dave, Dave, Kiko and Dirk lineup. No shade on James, but when you’ve been into a band for 30 years you want as many original members as there can be in it.
I prefer Gar and Chris era, I think its amazing and noone has really been able to do it like they did it but like u say this lineup can get close. Menza did not do jsutice to gars drumming but Menza was offcourse a incredible drummer and wrote his own great stuff. but like u say Dirk is probly the guy whos playd Gars drums the best
The lineup with Kiko was the first time in years that I saw Mustaine satisfied with the band, *Ellefson screwed up.* Decades of members dealing with drugs and mental stability and when the Daves are finally in peace with themselves he did that.
Mustaine was mad as heII, you're the one looking for excuses to cover for an idiot that doesn't understand how Internet security works in the 21st century.
I like the modern line up but nothing will ever touch Megadeth from 86 to 92.
That is peak Megadeth regardless of members but of course like most Nick and Marty are my favourite.
the quality and audibility of ellefson's bass parts separate megadeth from the other big thrash bands for me.
i can hardly hear what robert trujillo or araya are playing half the time
So far so good is my favorite album from megadeth and I also think dystopia has a lot of the same vibes
Its crazy that out of EVERYONE in Metal that Dave Mustaine will ostracize anyone for anything its absolutely insane. Dave E was having a relationship with an adult, WTF is the issue w/ that?
