You don’t need fast ram with a 7800x3d. The extra cache makes sure you don’t need that. A 13900k pulls 200 watts more under load, that’s serious money with energy prices these days. If you don’t care at all about those 2 facts, then yeah get a 13900k. If you play CPU heavy games like Rust, or Anno 1800, and you play a lot of hours in one session, and don’t care about hardcore overclocking, then the 7800x3d is the best performance choice. Especially because DDR5 is now cheaper and you don’t need the fastest memory for this cpu.

This is true, 13900k will outperform it if it’s tuned to the max, BUT, at a cost of a dead platform, and chugging 2-3x more power than AMD. I’m a former overclocker, but even I’m willing to admit, it ain’t worth it this generation.
In retrospect as of 5/2024, still a bad advice. Even 14700k or 14900k would not apply to this advice. 14900k(s) are killing themselves with the default power settings of motherboards just to get that slight edge to 7800x3d. AND there are reports on reddit for 14700k instability too but not widely reported nor even looked at by intel. As a 14700k owner, I hate what this industry has become many thanks to many youtubers that drive the benchmarking/performance metrics and intel not even admitting that their CPU by default is clocked to suicide.
Definitely an Intel fanboy lol. The 7800x3D is one of the best CPUs in the market currently for a reason. Nothing can match it & especially if you pair it with the 7900 XTX, that is a killer combo
Overclocking anything after 2020 is a giant scam. Do not listen to this person at all. Undervolting is what enthusiasts are doing nowadays. Have fun with using Intel's 300 watt CPUs with worse gaming performance than the 7800X3D's 100 watts when being used in games.
You can do anything with the right BIOS, i seen it done, depending the games you play and what else you do with your computer and how long you plan to keep the build and if you want to be able to upgrade CPUs using the same Motherboard and system and if heat and power bill is a big deal, Intel especially large core high speed CPUs are hot snd use a TON of power, if you have a over clocked 13900K and a 3090 or highest end AMD GPU your power bill will be extra hundreds of dollars, my 3080FTW3 Ultra with 450w bios and a 5800X3D under volted .30 all cores so its great on power the GPU alone when used half the day or less 5 days a week cost me 100 dollars a month, if i had a even higher watt card some of the highest end AMD ans Nvidia GPUs go up to 800-1000+ watts when over clocked then add in a Intel high end super inefficient power usage CPU you could be looking at 300+ dolllars a month especially if you run all day and night for music while you sleep and anorher computer for streaming, we looking at 500+ dollars a month, ask the guys crypto mining especially in hot weather high power costing areas. My house gets hot running my 3080 at +120hz core ans 1200hz vram. My next build will be a AMD CPU the X3D variant and a fast and efficient GPU, if you dont like to mess with bios and over locking get a amd X3D chip, most you have to do if you want ia undervolt making it more efficient cooler and last longer and its easier and safer thsn over clocking, but you don't have to do anything in software or bios to get the posted speeds that you purchased it for, all other amd and Intel CPUs require you to go into bios or download software to overclock your CPU to get the speeds that are posted on the box ans commercials to sell them. My friends wont touch bios or software and could just use there last computer with the bios settings correct for ram ans CPU and would be as fast or faster than the new gen rig they built with out it being optimized correctly, if you dont turn on the Ram bios file for 3200mhz ram you will get 2133mhz ram or slower until you turn on the file for getting those speeds same with CPU speeds and if you want fast GPU buy the OC version of the GPU if you don't want to mess with files. But with a little tuning most people could get as much performance from the rig they have now as a generation newer rig thats stock like yours, best investment for fast computer is cooling for ypur CPU to keep the boost speeds higher longer, if you OC it without good cooling and correct fan curves you will get thernak throttling and crazy frame drop snd 1% .1% lows making it choppy and nastier than if you left it alone, besy way to compensate this is turn the fan curve to sit at 40% at all times and go up tp 100% if it goes above like 72 or where ever yours drops boost speeds lower due to temps. I run mine at 100% at all times when gaming, best performance and keeps your rig running smoother longer like your car's cooling. Best way ia to put your computer away from where you sit so you dont hear it and give it freah air mine sits by the window sucking in cool air and window across room open so it suck its more air vehins the computer abd expels across room gicing good air flow and make sure your computer has a positive case flow so it only sucks in air where th fans ask for it snd exit air everwhere else sp it doesnt suck air in where filters are not.
im talking about GAMING, bc the 7800x3D is a gaming CPU (even tho its absolutely capable of production workloads as well ofc). on average 7800x3d is faster by a couple % up to well over 10%. sometimes they are about equally as fast and sometimes the 13900k/14900k (effectively same thing) is faster but if its faster, its usually by a small margin. @@travisgoodfella and Intel doesthis while consuming substantially more power which will mean more heat. also its not an apples to apples comparison to begin with bc they arent even close to the same price. and still - the 7800x3d often destroys the 13 or 14900k. thats insane for CPU that costs below 400€; the efficiency of the Ryzen CPUs is fucking awesome. The RDNA GPUs from AMD sadly arent as efficient as Nvidia but when talking about CPUs, AMD is currently shitting on Intel big time. the Hardware Unboxed benchmarks are very good, they test a ton of games. i would recommend various youtube channels BUT stay aways from those fake benchmark channel youtubers who always only show benchmarks but never their face. there are often irregularities, ppl suspect them just claiming to do benchmarks for clicks, but they write down the results of different stuff or simply pull it out of thin air and stuff like that.
I've had many issues with my 7800x3d, constantly having to remove the cmos, reseat the cpu and reapply thermal paste. Id say its a good cpu for the price and if you want to run it stock or with a PBO curve but if you want to overclock cores and ram speed then definitely intel would be the better option but for people saving money and running mostly stock the 7800x3d is a better choice.
So bro is advising us to get a sun in our pc with 350w or power consumption that is gonna make our electricity bill more expensive than the actual pc, spending 400 more dollars on overclocking when the 7800x3d is already better than the 14900ks without overclocking and pretty much if you think about it not even water cooling or the top of the line AIO’s could cool this ‘13900k’ witch means we need to spend more money on an cpu cooler. When you can save all that money and maybe buy more ram, storage, a better gpu, better psu, better fans. When even a used air cooler can get temps like 20-30 degrees with cyberpunk. What’s your point here man ? Let people buy what they want and don’t “sponsor” overhyped products to paralyze our pc.
Good luck on watercooling a 13900k? Oh you mean like everyone else is doing? It's not hard to achieve 57/45/50 or 58/44/49, I know, I've done so myself and whilst gaming it never even comes close to thermal throttling. Back to your hole.

And if you're going to OC the Intel CPU, you also need to OC the 7800X3D for an apples to apples comparison. And then there's the RAM to consider. DDR5 6000 CL30 with tight timings similar to those Buildzoid recommends give even more performance. So...basically...a properly tuned 7800X3D is just going to get that much faster. Others have tried this and learned the TL:DR version: 3D VCache > raw clock speed.
I will compare them by both being maxed out. That means 7800x3d at the highest ram speed possible and 13900k at the highest ram speed possible. All cpus overclocked

Why everyone had to do overclocking everyday?😅

im talking about GAMING, bc the 7800x3D is a gaming CPU (even tho its absolutely capable of production workloads as well ofc). on average 7800x3d is faster by a couple % up to well over 10%. sometimes they are about equally as fast and sometimes the 13900k/14900k (effectively same thing) is faster but if its faster, its usually by a small margin.
