A teacher saw my cell phone IN MY LOCKER, TEN minutes before school started and took my phone the day before I was leaving for vacation. I don't forgive her.
I was literally pressing the button to turn it off. I wasn't holding it, I was touching the phone while it sat on a shelf in the locker before the school day started.

My school wouldn't give me mine until my mother came. She was forced to walk after a total hip replacement even after explaining the situation. I had it taken while doing a 120fps slow mo of me and my friends running during lunch. I was so proud of my 10mp camera. The tech was crazy back then to me and my friends back then
I wasn't in class
They have no right to take it during lunch, you're on your own time, you didn't have to hand it over. If still in school next time leave the school and find somewhere nearby to hangout during lunch hour. It's much more relaxing to chill with a bunch of friends at a park, I hate grumpy teachers
So you made your mom go get your phone after hip replacement surgery?
@@bobbierobinson6269 It wasn’t the kids fault. Lunch isn’t an educational period, and they may have been told that they can use their phone during lunch. I'm a Millennial so we didn't have smart phones in school. Considering how many people needed to call for a ride home they should never allow phone confiscation. If you're caught screwing around on your phone, it goes in a basket on the teacher's desk that you're allowed to take it back from at the end of the class. If adults are allowed to use their phones on their 15 minute breaks at their jobs, it's not right to forbid a kid from using their phone between classes or lunchtime, which is what confiscation until the end of the day or longer would be.
If I had a child in the school system, regardless if the child or us his/her parents paid for it, I would tell my kid that they do NOT have to hand over their phone to anyone, put that phone in your pocket so they'd have to risk a groping based lawsuit. I would NOT sign any policy BS that allowed my kid to get their phone confiscated. If they wanted me to PAY to get my kid's phone back? HELL NO! That's extortion. Give me that phone or I'm calling the cops for robbery.
Its still crazy to me that we have to sign a policy like this to go to a place we're forced to go
Neither you nor your parents actually have to sign it (in most places, anyway). The school still has to let you attend if it's a public school (usually, depends on jurisdiction).

Fun Fact : there was a lawsuit Regarding this exact issue.
I once had a teacher who got into an argument over a phone in first period. The teacher took the phone and said he’d give it back at the end of the day. During 5th grade, we had a substitute a lot, so they didn't really know what we were learning, it was really boring in there so we took our phones out to were nobody can se us. Storytime 🤪
A few days ago(Tuesday to be exact), a random 6th grader (I'm in 8th) snitched on me and told her teacher that I had my phone with me. (We aren't allowed to have our phones on us, it has to be powered off and in our backpacks)
In English class a teacher pulled me out, and asked if I had my phone with me. Knowing I wouldn't be able to lie, I said yes. She asked where and I pointed to my waist bc my phone was kinda holding on to my skirt, which went to my waist (I go to a private school 😔). She told the 6th grader to go back to class and then the teacher took me to the office to turn in my phone. I was told I could come get it at the end of the day, then we left and the teacher gave me a lecture about why students having phones on them were such a sensitive topic to her. I assured her that I would never do that. (not saying exactly what she said bc it's her own personal life)
So yeah that's basically it. Ik I shouldn't have had my phone. I've learned 😌😌
i never signed nothing but teachers keep on saying i came into school and signed this like it was lockdown
I remember a summer camp counselor took my friend's deck of cards and rubix cube. He said he would give it back tommorrow. 5 years later he still hasn't gotten it back
That’s theft
Sue him!
I’m just gonna make a fake ringer that can’t be turned off so that it goes off the whole time teachers have it
No lie about that charged thing, one of the teachers I worked with kept a friggin external battery in her desk to charge students' phones bc students would make (fake) complaints to admin that she'd drained their battery and must have been looking through their phone to try and get her in trouble. Now she hands the phones over turned off and fully charged... it's a bit absurd
phones are important sources of communication
on school i dont think you will really need them because if an accident happens like for example, a fire or a shooting, there are evacuation plans
as for getting locked in the school for some reason, you can just go get your phone by picking the drawer, its tecnically vandalism but you were on a tricky situatiob
In our school the teachers get to keep the phone for 4 days😢
If my teacher tried to hold my phone for a year we are. And i mean we are throwing hands

My daughter’s school makes them keep their phones off and away per their policy. Anyone who has theirs out has it taken away and a guardian will be called to pick it up.
We recently had a threat one county over, so the school sent out texts explaining the situation to the parents. They had all kids grab their phones and update their parents that they’re ok. In that instance nobody had theirs taken.
They can take my child’s phone, but since it is my property they inform me and have me retrieve it.
I'm south african and in my school they used to take your phone and you must pay R200 😂

My school policy is that if they catch you on your phone then you have to drop it off at the school office for the next 5 days but you can pick it up in the afternoons.
if a teacher takes my phonw until the end of the day i'm turning into the quiet kid
Here in South Africa, phones aren't allowed in school AT ALL. It can be confiscated even if you just bring it into the school premises, even if you're not actually using it in class. And the school's administrative policy (which, as he stated, you sign and agree to at the beginning of the academic year) states that the school can keep it until you pay a fine of R750 (which is around $40)
I remembered I was falsely accused of stealing a laptop eventhough my friend was right next to me when the incident happened by a racist teacher.
I just go and stole it back
And make sure it’s charged when I get back. Classic elder brother experience
Forget my school forget anybody that says teachers can take my phone overnight. If they didn’t pay for it, they ain’t touching it!
I just refused to hand it over and all they can do at that point is give detention, give you ISS, or send you home. Mostly because this was back when phones didn't really have lock patterns, fingerprint ID, or face recognition. So teachers or a principal could just look through your phone if they wanted. You probably don't have anything bad on your phone maybe some texts between friends. Yet do you really want some teacher or the principal to go through your phone invading your privacy?
This is what i dont understand. How do corprate and other policys override the actual laws and bill of rights.
This seems like a gross oversight and should be that corprate policy is this what ever the local and state laws are period.
This will work in Romania, as in our country 3-4 months ago, a new law will be passed and if I take your phone, I will not call you back, that is, never
I remember I had to pay the school $15 to get my phone back.
in my country, it doesn't matter wtf the school policies are, under no circumstances teachers can take your phone
at my school, if your phone is heard or anything, 20 dollar fee
If you make it your parents' property the teacher could technically get sued for stealing, since it was took from an adult without his/her consent and that means stealing
Surprisingly looking back I never had problems at school involving my phone always kept it in my pocket. Silent to. Only had it out when we were allowed to if we had nothing left to do for class
Do one on college professors assigning grades. I’m curious what the laws are for that.
Yep it's true my school says if get caught with your phone in your bag after the time to hand it in to the teachers they will keep it for a week another strike a month and a third strike they will take for the whole school year
the fourth time my school takes your phone away, you get it taken for the rest of the semester
if a teacher takes a students form it will be confiscated for 1 year in my school
In my school, if get caught bring phone to school, usually you only get it back until end of the year or you graduated
