Thanks for the video. This zoo can be a confusing jumble for new guests without historical/seasonal perspective. I know you had to trim but I hope you saw the upper level of the museum with the Komodo dragons, venomous snakes, and arthropods! Also, we absolutely use the historic amphitheater. Some very big acts come through during summers! Thanks for the review and please visit again if you pass through!

To help explain 7:03 and 16:00, the exhibit where you didn't see the Yaks along Tembo Trail rotates Yaks, Reindeer, and Bactrian Camels, but they were all moved to the back part of the Africa exhibit when construction started on Kodiak Ridge. I assume they will move back eventually.
Great to see you tour one of my favorite zoos, if you ever make it back try to see the upper level of the Museum. There's Komodo Dragons, Venomous Snakes, Coconut Crabs, and other invertebrates and reptiles up there!

The older buildings were built by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930's. The ampitheater is still used for concerts. The smaller exhibits with the tigers are the oldest outdoor enclosures having been there since at least the 1970's by my recollection.
Unfortunately the older part of the zoo is landlocked by the surrounding neighborhood so expansion would be incredibly expensive. The only option was to expand across the highway (Anthony Wayne Trail).

They separate the male and female tiger and let them have date night when the female wants too. She might have been pregnant in your video and now has 2 cubs that will be on display soon. The aquarium is an older building but was recently redone within the past 5-10 years so it’s very modernized same with the museum. The rhino is not always out he has viewing when he’s inside. When it’s warmer out that exhibit is filled with water and the rhino swims up and down the river splaying with floating toys.

I remember starting last year I think something happened to the old alligator snapper, either age or sent off to another zoo and they got that young one

The Toledo is a pretty nice zoo but the acreage size doesn’t help. The exhibits are all pretty good besides the tiger terrace realm
