Absolutely superb performance. I think Monsieur Charlier would no doubt give you two thumbs up! Beautiful sound, and so fluid, like liquid gold. I worked on this piece long time ago. Never achieved such Beautiful Fluidity. Merveilleux! Bravo!
je savais jouer toutes les études de charlier .mon âge ne le permet plus malheureusement.Felicitations vous êtes actuellement le meilleur trompettiste de france avec peut être guerrier
Why do a lot of trumpet players play this on C Trumpet? it sounds great but when i try to listen to it my ear gets all confused becaise ive been playing it on Bb for so long
If I saw video of you playing minus the audio, I'd consider you a joke. If I heard audio of you minus the video, I consider you a master - AND YOU ARE.
This is beautifully done. I like the phrasing very much for most of the etude. I would prefer, however, that the first note of the opening phrase and its reiterations not be played so aggressively, but rather start softer and open up as it flows into the second measure. Starting softer would make the starting top-line F a bit more challenging, but I have no doubt that Mr. Leleu could bring it off. I think tapering the endings of more phrases and more dynamic contrast would be good, also. This is my opinion and is not meant as a criticism of Mr. Leleu, who is a very fine trumpet player and musician and has his own interpretation. I am merely offering an alternative approach for discussion. The beautiful lines in this etude and the call and response dialogue aspects offer many different possibilities for interpretation, and none is the "correct" one. The important thing is to not play it as only an etude to be played with note accuracy, but rather, seek to give the listener something hauntingly expressive. Mr. Leleu certainly does that.
people people...he is not transposing it...he is just playing it on a C trumpet instead of a Bb trumpet. He is playing it "as written" but on a C horn, as Thomas McClafferty stated...a lot of classical players are more accustomed to C trumpets than Bb.

Sir Romain Leleu, lo q + me llama la atención cuando toca la trompeta es la musicalidad con q toca, excelente👏

Magnifique interprétation de cette célèbre étude. Bravo !
Well played! However - the red fire extinguisher is located a little too far up the wall, isn't it?

cette étude est d'autant plus difficile que vous la jouez en ut c'est parfait
OK!!!
That's cool and very good, but you're playing it on C as written, it's written for Bb. So this is technically wrong.
Thomas McClafferty most likely he transposed it to C so he can have an easier time in higher register
Why bother transposing a part if you're playing on your own. His version still sounds good in my opinion.

He played something written for Bb trumpet on a C trumpet. That is what technically is incorrect. He should have transposed down a half step.
@@svdtrumpet looks like you are the one with the extraordinarily inane comment.
