This is a tutorial for directly connecting a Wii Guitar Hero controller to a MacBook. This does require some extra hardware compared to my older video that used just Bluetooth and a WiiMote.

Things I use:
Wii Guitar Hero Controller - no Wii Mote is needed!
Raphnet Classic controller to USB adapter - V3 - (this was $48 after shipping for me, link above)
USB to USB-C adaptor
You can just plug the Guitar directly into the MacBook using the two adaptors. You will also need to download a free software called Enjoyable, (link above). Once you’ve got the software, open it up.
For example, the fret buttons are Buttons 1-5, Strum bar up is Button 9, Strum bar down is Button 6, + is Button 7, - is Button 8. The Axis inputs are for this joystick and the whammy bar. I don’t use these when I am gaming so far.
You can assign these buttons to ‘Press a Key’ on the right side of the Enjoyable window. What I do is I match Enjoyable output key presses, to the inputs on my NES emulator. I use Nestopia, where Z and X are mapped to the NES B and B buttons respectively. I set + and - on the Drum Kit, which are buttons 7 and 8, to C and V which are select and start.
I’ve found that I have to use standalone emulators like Nestopia, Genesis Plus, and BSNES since RetroArch and OpenEmu will override the Enjoyable mapping. If someone watching knows how to fix this, please let us know in the comments!
That’s it! Using a Wii Guitar Hero Controller with you MacBook is very easy with the Raphnet Adaptor and the Enjoyable software.
