- Warriors and mages, gather close and listen well, for today, we venture below the earth, where nature's secrets and sorrows are buried deep. Beneath the arid lands of The Barrens, a complex of caves breathes with the sorrow of a corrupted dream. This is a tale of deception, and the fragile veneer between a vision of splendour and the abyss of madness. Welcome to the depths where nightmares dwell; welcome to the Wailing Caverns.
The story of the Wailing Caverns begins with Naralex, a Night Elf druid, who discovered a network of cave systems, deep beneath the earth of The Barrens. He named them for the mournful sounds that echoed through their chambers, and carrying a grand vision, he dreamed of restoring this vast, sun-scorched savannah to its former glory as a lush forest that existed here before the cataclysmic Sundering tore the world asunder.
Now, trapped in an eternal slumber, Naralex sleeps, while his disciples work tirelessly to restore the caverns to their former glory and awaken their mentor from his darkened state. As we stand at its threshold, the challenge beckons to all daring adventurers: Will you accompany me on a quest to purge the corruption? Your courage and strength are needed more than ever to help rekindle the hope of redemption and bring an end to the nightmare below the earth.

All creatures have their place in the world, and it's often up to us to respect the natural balance of things, whenever there is a reason and possibility to do so!
I wish I was these adventurers - they’re getting whole armor sets in a single run
Being in the present of this 'Loremaster' figure, does seem to have its benefits!
As a horde this is an iconic experience for me. Winding tunnels big open caverns with many routes, optional boss at the end with the escort. Even the annoying hibernates from the spellcasters is a great lesion for low level players. When I played the tcg, I topped a DMF event with Druid of the Fang Mythan I think his name was. The betrayer set had Heroes as bad guys from dungeons of classic and tbc.
Indeed, many options for the young and eager to explore these tunnels and caves! Oh, such memories of old!
The Wailing Caverns is one of those dungeons that took me longer to get to then I care to admit. Since it was in a Horde Territory, I didn't really do it until much later.
To be fair, the same can be said for the Deadmines for many Horde adventurers, not to mention Shadowfang Keep's remote location. Azeroth is vast, and it's tough to give every spot the attention it deserves right away. Hope you get to enjoy it nonetheless!
OP place to fish, farm leather and deviate hides for resale.

This was one of my favorite dungeons in Vanilla. Such a cool place. They really out did themselves with Vanilla Dungeons.

Tes, that's correct! The Wailing Caverns' connection to the Emerald Nightmare through Naralex's failed attempt to cleanse the Barrens using the Emerald Dream marks one of the early instances where this darker aspect of the Dream is explored in the game.

Layering all of the different variations of the voicelines over one another really adds to the horror of the situation the Druids of the Fang are in, wonderfully done!
It was great to experiment with the voice lines of the different Fanglords, and I eventually settles with a mix of the Loremaster's own narration and their iconic voices! Thanks for the compliment!

Wailing caverns is probably the first thing i think of when i think of wow. Kresh is a fuckin stud but I usually play prot warr so i have to murder him in cold blood for his back at least once per warrior

You forgot the fairy dragon rare in the dungeon but your vids are very good
I tried to incorporate the Deviate Faerie Dragon into the story, but I couldn't get it to spawn and thus not record it. Oh well, glad you like the videos!

Great dungeon but having to escort the Tauren's slow self, ruins it for me.
The Disciple of Naralex certainly takes his time to rid the caverns of the corruption and save is master from his slumber...

Since this place is powerd by evil nightmares, deos that mean that the caverns have Old God connections?
A just question! Yes, the Wailing Caverns do indeed have connections to the Old Gods due to the presence of the Emerald Nightmare, which corrupted the area. This influence led to the transformation of the cavern's wildlife and his disciples, creating a dire environment that reflects the chaotic and malevolent nature of the Old Gods' influence.
