Solo overnight adventure in the Aussie bush!

- I head out for an epic camping and hiking adventure, only to be thwarted by a closed park after a 3.5 hour drive. A quick change of plans and a bit more driving and I'm soon walking through the bush. I hike up a couple of ridges, get hit by a storm and find the most amazing spur I have ever walked. I find an amazing place to camp, crank up the campfire and cook up some good food straight on the coals. An awesome trip, in fantastic county! Good times!

Great production!
Thanks Eric!
Just found your channel. Great to see videos and adventures. Still haven’t worked up the courage for an overnighter but I guess I have to watch some more of your videos. 💪
Just checked my subs list and saw your post.... exactly what I need tonight 😁...now to sit back, relax and soak it all in!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy!
Love your videos, they are so well done and real gems! Thank you for uploading and can't wait for more.
Thanks very much for watching and the feedback!
Awww yes, time to live vicariously through Eric ! My turn to get out for a solo in the next few weeks
Good stuff mate - hope you enjoy the video and your trip in the next few weeks! Cheers
Nice video bud.
Sometimes the best adventures are the unplanned ones. It's also a good aspect of bushcraft to be adaptable, prepared to change plans and move forward. Great Job!
Very true! As it turned out, this was an awesome trip even though it wasn't what I planned. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Well done on shifting course when things didn’t go to plan. Aboriginal history is fascinating and I’m looking forward to you being able to complete your original plans.
Thanks very much for watching and the feedback! I'll do my best to complete and share the original trip. Cheers
Great work (as always) Erik. Even a little humour thrown in too mate "rain is not very acceptable" lol. Your camera work looks even more incredible when I cast to a 68" screen...had a few mates sitting around last night with some cold beers to watch your latest adventures... Doesn't get much better pal!!
Cheers Jeff 👍
That's really awesome to hear. Thanks so much for watching (and sharing with your mates). Cheers Erik
Great video Erik - love all the handy tips you share! Great choice of beers too 🍻
Awesome video mate! Only just discovered you, subscribed. You found a beautiful camp site there! Look forward to watching your other videos. I’m in Melbourne by the way.
Thanks, another great vid
Good one Erik
Great video Erik, I really enjoy the walks and the beautiful scenery and the river gorges are awesome. I reckon that wild would have been a surprise for you. Thanks for sharing your adventures, they are always a good watch.
Cheers
Thanks Wayne, really appreciate that. Cheers Erik
Awesome trip mate, I was lucky enough to see a wild dog 2 years ago,it was almost kelpie like and it bolted as soon as it seen me. I kinda like walking in the rain sometimes it is really refreshing. cheers and thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate, the trip definitely worked out well! Have heard packs of them howling before, but never seen one, so glad he bolted straight away and didn't have any friends. Cheers!
Very positive person. Nice video.
Another excellent vid Erik.Keep em coming mate.Watched whilst downing a Bent Spoke😎
Cheers mate! Great choice in beer 😉
great spot to camp, enjoying your videos
Great job again mate. I'd be very interested in that book. Thanks for sharing. Onto your next video
Thanks mate, appreciate that! I can highly recommend that book! I had a moment coming down that spur when the landscape kind of fell into place, it was a cool feeling that made sense after reading John Blay's book. Cheers mate.
Nice one Erik. Love the journey. Enjoyed watching. 😀
Thanks mate!
Just purchased Asolo TPS 520. Hope these go better than what you experienced. Great video Erik
Mate I'm sure they will be great. They have a Vibram sole and look solid as. I used my Asolo Revert's on the weekend and they stuck to the rocks like glue! Thanks for watching!
The mark in the rock you came across may be a grinding groove or grinding hollow.
It must be hard carrying all that stuff. Well done.
Thanks Bruce!
Subscribed mate awesome stuff 🇦🇺😎
Perfect camping spot and perfect choice on the DIPA’s mate, awesome. Any plans to do a coastal trip?
Thanks mate - no current plans for a coastal trip, but I'm sure I'll do one sometime. Thanks for watching.
I love rain camping. Preferably it starts after I setup tho lol. Really enjoyable video mate. Lucky far enough south not in lockdown so I’m outa here this weekend. Ps how does the meat go sitting in a warm bag all day?
Thanks, yeah the sound of the rain on the tent or tarp is always tops. Enjoy your trip! We just went into lockdown today, but at least I still have a couple of videos to edit. On the meat side, I normally freeze , so goes well. I usually cook a little extra just to be sure. Always taste good on the fire!
@@ERIKOFFTRACK thank you so much…spending the arvo with a few beers and your trips till tomorrow
I have just started watching your videos and they are great! So happy to see another Aussie doing this sort of RUclips channel. The tent that you have looks like a ripper, can I ask what sort it is?
Keep up the great work, your videos are very relaxing to watch
Thanks very much and thanks for watching! The tent is a Nemo Dagger 2P (with the additional ground sheet). It's a great tent that has served me well. I've pitched it in some pretty wild places and never had a drama. Cheers
ERIK OFF-TRACK thanks Erik! I look forward to your future videos!!
Very nice . Am not experienced like you but do you usually take any precautions when canping beside a river since there is crocodiles ?
No fishing attempt this time Mate?
Another killa video Bud.
Thanks mate! Yeah thought it better to give the fish a break this trip 😉
Just wondering what state forests your in im pretty sure your in vic but i really wanna do this but i dont know what forests are good for solo wild camping
Awesome place but I wondered if the creek kept you awake? It seemed pretty loud on camera.
It was quite peaceful actually, the microphone made it sound much louder than it actually was.
What idiotic troll has given this video a thumbs down? It was a great one. Sorry for all the rain there Erik
Thanks mate! It's all good, I'm really lucky to get the positive feedback that I do! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
At night do you keep your food with you in the tent or do you hang your food bag from a tree
I have always kept it in the tent. Haven't had any issues so far.
With the wild dog in the area do you carry a firearm with you when you hike? Here in the states I carry on every hike.
Hey mate, no I don't own or carry a firearm on my adventures. We have a very different set of laws and culture around firearms. In terms of the wild dog, luckily it was as freaked out as I was. Have definitely thought about how I would react if it wasn't though. Thanks for watching
@@ERIKOFFTRACK I really enjoy your adventures. Keep up the great work. Maybe you and Scotty on Walkabout could get together for a combined trip.
what camera do you use.
GoPro Hero 7 and CanonG7xii (have just started using a Panasonic G95 - but not on this video)
