True, its all there in black and white. I could definitely attribute a lot of this to other incidents across the globe and throughout history. That was just the first one that came to mind. She wouldn't even need to nuke it. Just alter the atmosphere above anywhere on Earth to allow a devastating amount of solar radiation through and wipe out every living thing in a given area. That's one reason I love Marvel's attempt to go the "science" route with mutants, because when you really think about certain types of powers, it goes a LOT further than just throwing lightning bolts or healing bullet wounds.

Pretty much. We were talking about this on The Blerd Cave last Saturday. Anytime Marvel made a new character or storyline, it was just one more property they couldn't use in movies/TV. They were basically giving Fox excuses to hold the X-Men/FF rights hostage

But don’t Sugar Coat the correlation of what XMEN really is to real life society.. Ernie gives the real. I’ve loved XMEN since I was 8 years old.. it spoke to me then and at 36 it speaks to me louder.. Hickman jumping on board just shot my expectations and hopes through the moon.
I try to never sound like I know more than everyone else. I just love comics. I love lots of other things, too but comics is a passion. I think a lot of times, and I've noticed this on Rob's channel as well as others, they tend to not want to talk about the REAL deeper issue because they'll be perceived as "being too political"... No one in Comic Book RUclips wants to be accused of being an SJW. Me? I don't care about all that because there's nothing political about being decent. And as a black man who's been called the N word a lot, if SJW is the worst anyone can call me, then they better try harder. If things going the way I think it's going to go than their will be only three powerful nations on earth, and they would be Wakanda, Atlantis, and the new X Haven. I say this because in the future comics (the one where it's sometimes a what if) it always have Wakanda still being on top. But in BP annual 1 Storm and T'Challa got remarried and had kids, and if I'm not mistaken it did hinted mutants were growing in numbers. Yeah I could this leaning that direction. And Wakanda seemed to have a sanctuary for mutants there as well. So mutants being the majority seemed even more likely. Humans likely won't go extinct, but mutants will likely won't but persecuted the way they have been
I'm a new subscriber but the moment you said the first part of this series had you think about Black Wall Street, you are so right. As a Black man, I truly feel if the Black people from that time had the power to strike back and defeated the oppressors, who know what the US would have become. I love the way you think sir. I also can't wait to follow this new spin on the X-Men. It is so refreshing to see the mutants have a place on their own where they can live in peace. I haven't read comics books since I was a kid. This new take on the X-Men may get me back to reading comics again.

Yup. Pretty much by the time this event is over, EVERY mutant will be back pretty much. The solicits for the X-titles coming out after this all have multiple characters who dead up until now. As for Krakoa itself, I think House of X #2 is the issue Hickman said would blow everyone's minds. I think that's where we learn more definitively whats going on with all these dead mutants and how they're back.
Earnie, this issue was amazing. Read it yesterday. It was one of those experiences where you just slowly put the book down, slide it back into its sleeve with reverence and spend the next 10 minutes just sitting there reflecting. 10/10 imo

Ernie does it again!! I'm so proud of you, and here's why: I've been a fan of comics my whole life. When I was young, black kids reading comics was not cool, but I didn't care. They came about to me in a tough time in my adolescence and definitely helped make things easier and put my life into perspective, especially the X-Men, my all time favorite title. The struggle that means go through definitely mirror the Black experience in America without a doubt. That being said, I rejoiced the day five years ago when I found comics explained. I was a huge fan of his channel, and watched every episode when they dropped. And once again, I was going through a tough time. While I will always support Rob, he's changed as a you tuber, and I don't think for the better. He stopped all good long form videos, became dismissive of key elements of certain storylines, and needlessly extolled the decline and eventual fall off the X-Men comic series ( though I will gladly admit as well I was wondering what marvel was doingng with the title, I still had hope). I watched his video on the house of x yesterday, and yours today. Yours was longer, which I personally love, more in depth, more exciting and definitely more insightful. Your theory on black wall street (what you know bout dat?!?) and the X-Men is spot on, and it brings to mind a return to Stan Lee's stance on race relations when he said he modeled professor x and magneto after Martin Luther King, Jr and Malcolm X respectively, though I was likening it more to connections with the current border crisis (what happens when the immigrants get fed up?). Basically bro, I'm happy I stumbled upon your channel six months ago, more so than when I found comics explained so long ago, and even in that short amount of time your evolution is astounding! When I was a kid I realized that I was gay and being gay in the ghetto if the Bronx was a big no for Latino community. I saw my first X-Men comic when I was 10 didn't know how to read or write but I knew what was going on with the X-Men I saw the fear and pain the mutants had to live. It made me happy that I was not alone. When I got older I knew how to read and write so my first X-Men tittle that I read was generation next, inferno, and many more.
Anytime y'all! Hey, I'm right with y'all. Growing up it wasn't cool to be into comics. Folks made fun of me. Picked on me. Bullied me. Told me I was less than them because I was too caught up in "funny books." But you know what.... those same comics taught me a lot. I learned tolerance and acceptance from the X-Men. How to accept and love others despite their differences. I know Rob has been in the game a minute and his mindset has kind of shifted in a different direction than what it used to be. I know him and a lot of other comic book RUclipsrs are too afraid of looking like they're "being political" but to me? I don't care about that. I don't ever wanna seem preachy to y'all but I'll always acknowledge the social and political commentary when I see it. Especially in X-Men comics. I'll always support Rob in one way or another because though he wasn't the first comic book youtuber, he did pave the way for me. And I know he watches and lurks on my channel. Kenneth Martin Man, I am sorry that people gave you grief for liking comics. I feel that comics belong to anyone who wants to enjoy them. Race, gender, or anything should not matter. And it saddens and angers me when I see people who seemingly want to keep people out, who want to turn the fandom into some sort of ultra exclusive club. Side note: in the POX#1 regular cover, and the preview art for it. Theres a bald menacing looking dude with red eyes and strange markings on his Face. In the oreview art.they show him standing and also his head with a helmet on labeled "A". Wild thing but is that an evil Xavier descendant with Cerebro helmet as he clearly.keeps wearing? So intrigued....
They actually used this concept when Thor ruled the world and human governments tried to kill him nuclear attacks. This ended with it becoming an alternate future and was erased.

In one panel it looks like Jean has tears in her eyes. She wanted to start a mutant nation in "X-Men Red" issue 1. Namor (Atlantis) and T'Challah (Wakanda) recognized it at The United Nations. I hope Hickman is somehow calling back to this. Xavier built this nation with a much harder stance than what Jean proposed.

When you came with the notes I knew you was about to go in this book is great so far loved how cyclops got spicy with the fantastic 4 telling them to tell their son he got a family on Krakoa loved how they made saber tooth a beast again like in the 80’s I hope omega sentinel is a double agent but I’m thinking she not but magneto shined IMO and when he said we are your new gods I had to stop and think about life it’s gonna be a wild ride
Magneto pulled one of the biggest flexes in his entire career. He basically pulled a Pop Copy on 'em and was like "Oh, you wanna speak to the manager? I AM YA MANAGER!" I'm here for all of this and more. I like the subtle touches back to the 80's and 90's era of X-Men. Hell, they put real respect on Storm's name and FINALLY made her an official Omega level mutant... Hickman is on message so far
Every time I see the word "Mutant" i replace it with "Black ppl" because it's basically what it is. Even when the X-Men was first created Martin Luther King represented Professor Xavier and Magneto represented Malcolm X. I think Stan Lee knew what he was doing.

DUDE!!!! BRUH!!!! This shit is INSANE!!! Read it last night and I'm just MIND BLOWN!!! Although We have familiar elements, this is SOME NEW SHIT. And I.AM.HERE.FOR.IT. The use of Krakoa is GENIUS! There have been plenty base of operations (I HATED the Limbo base---buuuut it WAS different), but this just makes sense...and adds an extra amount of mystery. I'm curious about "Xavier" (I think he was referred to as that when Jean brought the little mutant through the gateway and said, "look there's Xavier with the hairy guy!" LOVE that scene). There is something...strange about this Xavier...he has a more cynical tone....could this still be "X" (Fatomex-Xavier) from "Astonishing X-Men?" Hmmmmm... I Love how Balanced Xavier and Magneto are right now. It seems like Xavier is still about that non-violence Life but it also seems like if Magneto was driven to act as the "hand of God" he'd let Erik make folk "put some respect on it" (as You say. lol). I haven't been this excited about X-Men since the whole Messiah Complex/War/Second Coming and Bendis' X-Men. I Love how they are letting Jonathan Hickman basically tell his dynamic story. Plenty X-books have always been promoted with "all new all different" BUT this book is CLEARLY All-New and All-Different! I mean, shit, the damn logo, the interior info pages...I mean this CLEARLY feels like a "Children of the Atom" book in terms of science fiction. As a matter of fact, I can see the Marvel Cinematic Universe taking a more Sci-Fi approach in however the Mutants get integrated into the Cinematic world be it through Disney + and/or any film they appear in. Yet people still hate you, no matter how much good, culture, or innovation you bring to society. And no different. If minorities tried to go and build a place of their own and thrive.. the Majority would try to burn it to the ground. Hickman make this brand explode. A thought just came to me. GS X-Men one, the relaunch of X-Men. It started on Krakoa. Supposedly, Krakoa was launched into space. Here we have the island, and all the wonders that it is doing. Did the events of GSX#1 ever really end or did some subtle alterations to the X-Men, or even Xavier happen. When Scott returned to the mansion, did he bring spores, which changed Xavier?
I also think it's NUTS (in a good Way) that mutants HAVE THEIR OWN LANGUAGE!!! A language that I'm hearing of people actually trying to decipher it in real life. If that doesn't add to some next-level shit in the history of X-Men comics I don't know what does. The mystery in this entire book...man...
I've heard a theory that this isn't the rise of the X-Men, but the rise of the Brotherhood, that Magneto is really in charge and that Prof. X is either being controlled by the Maker or that he actually is the Maker (the two dress very similarly, too similar to be a coincidence in Hickman book when Hickman made the Maker the character he is known to be). Maybe the reason all of these villains will be on these teams in the upcoming mutant team books is because maybe the heroes are either being manipulated/controlled, or maybe they just stopped giving a crap. They've tried coexisting with the humans, but after this one offer to reap the benefits of friendship with the mutant nation, they've basically had enough. They'll make it a comfortable inevitable decline for homo sapiens, but they're taking charge now.
Good vid. I love world-building & as my fav comic book franchise I'm glad that X-men is finally starting to pan out concepts & ideas that were vague, at best (that Disney acquisition seems to have really helped the comics). While I've never really liked "goody two shoes" Charles, I developed more interest & respect for him after the whole Xavier Protocols storyline (which I believe was copied by DC to create "Batman's JL Protocols" in Tower of Babel). I like how they juxtapose his good intentions w/ a sneaky side that's not as ruthless as Emma or intolerant as Erik. This storyline is promising & I hope they continue it for a long time. They shouldn't go w/ the whole cliche "Evil Xavier" or "treacherous Magneto/Emma" route, but instead just stick to the whole mutant vs human aspect that makes the X-men so captivating. Now they can actually make new mutant characters & seemingly bring old ones back, because they've got the movie rights. So I think a school-setting would be perfect to introduce new characters (who don't all have to be young or students), because the X-men have always been about not only protecting mutants, but also training them in the use of their powers.

Given that Charles is based off of Martin and Magneto is based off of Malcolm it’s possible that this could develop into a black wall-street scenario where certain groups attack the mutant nation.
Great Black Wall Street reference. As a side note, the X-men were created in the sixties. It's a metaphor for racism. Xavier was modeled after MLK, while Magneto was inspired by Malcolm X. The separatist vs. the integrationist.
1) I probably missed a video but WHEN DID XAVIER COME BACK?! 2) the flowers of krokoa seem to be too good of a deal for humanity. My bet is that they're placebo effect at best or Xavier is also some how mind-f***ing everyone. It is a good story, but what makes me cautious (not angry or worried) is what I didn't see, the human... or rather mutant...level effect on the X-Men. The X-Men at its best has always gotten into that very personal look at its members. I know it is only one issue (which eases me a bit), but the nitty-gritty of humanity is not something Hickman does often. I actually wonder some times if he is a Vulcan. Still, I am along for the ride, and was intrigued by the first stop enough to give the benefit of the doubt.

Damian Lewd of course.. I welcome it.. Rob avoids the real theme of the X-men books when he talks about them. His experience may be different. But don’t Sugar Coat the correlation of what XMEN really is to real life society.. Ernie gives the real. I’ve loved XMEN since I was 8 years old.. it spoke to me then and at 36 it speaks to me louder.. Hickman jumping on board just shot my expectations and hopes through the moon.
I try to never sound like I know more than everyone else. I just love comics. I love lots of other things, too but comics is a passion. I think a lot of times, and I've noticed this on Rob's channel as well as others, they tend to not want to talk about the REAL deeper issue because they'll be perceived as "being too political"... No one in Comic Book RUclips wants to be accused of being an SJW. Me? I don't care about all that because there's nothing political about being decent. And as a black man who's been called the N word a lot, if SJW is the worst anyone can call me, then they better try harder. That said, I'm just glad (almost) everyone enjoys my videos and how I present things 😁
If things going the way I think it's going to go than their will be only three powerful nations on earth, and they would be Wakanda, Atlantis, and the new X Haven. I say this because in the future comics (the one where it's sometimes a what if) it always have Wakanda still being on top. But in BP annual 1 Storm and T'Challa got remarried and had kids, and if I'm not mistaken it did hinted mutants were growing in numbers.

Yeah I could this leaning that direction. And Wakanda seemed to have a sanctuary for mutants there as well. So mutants being the majority seemed even more likely. Humans likely won't go extinct, but mutants will likely won't but persecuted the way they have been

I'm a new subscriber but the moment you said the first part of this series had you think about Black Wall Street, you are so right. As a Black man, I truly feel if the Black people from that time had the power to strike back and defeated the oppressors, who know what the US would have become. I love the way you think sir. I also can't wait to follow this new spin on the X-Men. It is so refreshing to see the mutants have a place on their own where they can live in peace. I haven't read comics books since I was a kid. This new take on the X-Men may get me back to reading comics again.
Utopia was better. It aligned more to Professor X's dream. Not only did it have mutants, but humans, aliens, Atlanteans and sentient AI.

Yup. Pretty much by the time this event is over, EVERY mutant will be back pretty much. The solicits for the X-titles coming out after this all have multiple characters who dead up until now. As for Krakoa itself, I think House of X #2 is the issue Hickman said would blow everyone's minds. I think that's where we learn more definitively whats going on with all these dead mutants and how they're back.

I've been a fan of comics my whole life. When I was young, black kids reading comics was not cool, but I didn't care. They came about to me in a tough time in my adolescence and definitely helped make things easier and put my life into perspective, especially the X-Men, my all time favorite title. The struggle that means go through definitely mirror the Black experience in America without a doubt. That being said, I rejoiced the day five years ago when I found comics explained. I was a huge fan of his channel, and watched every episode when they dropped. And once again, I was going through a tough time. While I will always support Rob, he's changed as a you tuber, and I don't think for the better. He stopped all good long form videos, became dismissive of key elements of certain storylines, and needlessly extolled the decline and eventual fall off the X-Men comic series ( though I will gladly admit as well I was wondering what marvel was doingng with the title, I still had hope).
I watched his video on the house of x yesterday, and yours today. Yours was longer, which I personally love, more in depth, more exciting and definitely more insightful. Your theory on black wall street (what you know bout dat?!?) and the X-Men is spot on, and it brings to mind a return to Stan Lee's stance on race relations when he said he modeled professor x and magneto after Martin Luther King, Jr and Malcolm X respectively, though I was likening it more to connections with the current border crisis (what happens when the immigrants get fed up?).
Basically bro, I'm happy I stumbled upon your channel six months ago, more so than when I found comics explained so long ago, and even in that short amount of time your evolution is astounding! I love your work on war of the realms! You are perhaps the most comprehensive analyst of comics out right now and the best at finding threads from the comic universe to our own. A hell of an accomplishment. If you cover the rest of this X-Men story like you did this video, I believe you will surpass all expectations and ascended to a unheard of level of success as a comic book you tuber. When I was a kid I realized that I was gay and being gay in the ghetto if the Bronx was a big no for Latino community. I saw my first X-Men comic when I was 10 didn't know how to read or write but I knew what was going on with the X-Men I saw the fear and pain the mutants had to live. It made me happy that I was not alone. When I got older I knew how to read and write so my first X-Men tittle that I read was generation next, inferno, and many more.
Anytime y'all! Hey, I'm right with y'all. Growing up it wasn't cool to be into comics. Folks made fun of me. Picked on me. Bullied me. Told me I was less than them because I was too caught up in "funny books." But you know what.... those same comics taught me a lot. I learned tolerance and acceptance from the X-Men. How to accept and love others despite their differences.
I know Rob has been in the game a minute and his mindset has kind of shifted in a different direction than what it used to be. I know him and a lot of other comic book RUclipsrs are too afraid of looking like they're "being political" but to me? I don't care about that. I don't ever wanna seem preachy to y'all but I'll always acknowledge the social and political commentary when I see it. Especially in X-Men comics. Kenneth Martin Man, I am sorry that people gave you grief for liking comics. I feel that comics belong to anyone who wants to enjoy them. Race, gender, or anything should not matter. And it saddens and angers me when I see people who seemingly want to keep people out, who want to turn the fandom into some sort of ultra exclusive club. To me, a true fan should want to share what they love, not hoard it.

In the oreview art.they show him standing and also his head with a helmet on labeled "A". Wild thing but is that an evil Xavier descendant with Cerebro helmet as he clearly.keeps wearing? So intrigued....

In one panel it looks like Jean has tears in her eyes. She wanted to start a mutant nation in "X-Men Red" issue 1. Namor (Atlantis) and T'Challah (Wakanda) recognized it at The United Nations. I hope Hickman is somehow calling back to this. Xavier built this nation with a much harder stance than what Jean proposed.

Magneto pulled one of the biggest flexes in his entire career. He basically pulled a Pop Copy on 'em and was like "Oh, you wanna speak to the manager? I AM YA MANAGER!" I'm here for all of this and more. I like the subtle touches back to the 80's and 90's era of X-Men. Hell, they put real respect on Storm's name and FINALLY made her an official Omega level mutant... Hickman is on message so far
Every time I see the word "Mutant" i replace it with "Black ppl" because it's basically what it is. Even when the X-Men was first created Martin Luther King represented Professor Xavier and Magneto represented Malcolm X. I think Stan Lee knew what he was doing.

There have been plenty base of operations (I HATED the Limbo base---buuuut it WAS different), but this just makes sense...and adds an extra amount of mystery.
I'm curious about "Xavier" (I think he was referred to as that when Jean brought the little mutant through the gateway and said, "look there's Xavier with the hairy guy!" LOVE that scene). There is something...strange about this Xavier...he has a more cynical tone....could this still be "X" (Fatomex-Xavier) from "Astonishing X-Men?" Hmmmmm...
I Love how Balanced Xavier and Magneto are right now. It seems like Xavier is still about that non-violence Life but it also seems like if Magneto was driven to act as the "hand of God" he'd let Erik make folk "put some respect on it" (as You say. lol).

Plenty X-books have always been promoted with "all new all different" BUT this book is CLEARLY All-New and All-Different! I mean, shit, the damn logo, the interior info pages...I mean this CLEARLY feels like a "Children of the Atom" book in terms of science fiction. As a matter of fact, I can see the Marvel Cinematic Universe taking a more Sci-Fi approach in however the Mutants get integrated into the Cinematic world be it through Disney + and/or any film they appear in.
I am SUPER HYPED and I CAN'T WAIT for next week's Powers of X!!!

It’s crazy that people read the Xmen and never realize mutants = minorities. We’ve tried to integration, assimilation, and asking to be seen the same. Yet people still hate you, no matter how much good, culture, or innovation you bring to society. And no different. If minorities tried to go and build a place of their own and thrive.. the Majority would try to burn it to the ground. Hickman make this brand explode. Write about the tru struggle.. and MCU.. this is a billion dollar theme to make this Franchise even greater than Avengers!!

A thought just came to me. GS X-Men one, the relaunch of X-Men. It started on Krakoa. Supposedly, Krakoa was launched into space. Here we have the island, and all the wonders that it is doing. Did the events of GSX#1 ever really end or did some subtle alterations to the X-Men, or even Xavier happen. When Scott returned to the mansion, did he bring spores, which changed Xavier?
I also think it's NUTS (in a good Way) that mutants HAVE THEIR OWN LANGUAGE!!!
A language that I'm hearing of people actually trying to decipher it in real life. If that doesn't add to some next-level shit in the history of X-Men comics I don't know what does. The mystery in this entire book...man...
I've heard a theory that this isn't the rise of the X-Men, but the rise of the Brotherhood, that Magneto is really in charge and that Prof. X is either being controlled by the Maker or that he actually is the Maker (the two dress very similarly, too similar to be a coincidence in Hickman book when Hickman made the Maker the character he is known to be). Maybe the reason all of these villains will be on these teams in the upcoming mutant team books is because maybe the heroes are either being manipulated/controlled, or maybe they just stopped giving a crap. They've tried coexisting with the humans, but after this one offer to reap the benefits of friendship with the mutant nation, they've basically had enough. They'll make it a comfortable inevitable decline for homo sapiens, but they're taking charge now.
Good vid. I love world-building & as my fav comic book franchise I'm glad that X-men is finally starting to pan out concepts & ideas that were vague, at best (that Disney acquisition seems to have really helped the comics). While I've never really liked "goody two shoes" Charles, I developed more interest & respect for him after the whole Xavier Protocols storyline (which I believe was copied by DC to create "Batman's JL Protocols" in Tower of Babel). I like how they juxtapose his good intentions w/ a sneaky side that's not as ruthless as Emma or intolerant as Erik. This storyline is promising & I hope they continue it for a long time. They shouldn't go w/ the whole cliche "Evil Xavier" or "treacherous Magneto/Emma" route, but instead just stick to the whole mutant vs human aspect that makes the X-men so captivating. Now they can actually make new mutant characters & seemingly bring old ones back, because they've got the movie rights. So I think a school-setting would be perfect to introduce new characters (who don't all have to be young or students), because the X-men have always been about not only protecting mutants, but also training them in the use of their powers.

Black Wall Street is an interesting take. I took that commentary as the browing of America. How they say by 2045 more people in America will be minorities than are identified as White. X-men was always a story of minority presecution.
And superheroing in general.

Hickman is not a fan of making the comics like the movies. He's been pretty vocal that he goes out of his way not to mirror the movies.
And don't forget that Franklin Richards is the possible future husband of Rachel Grey. They have children together. Cyclops is aware of that fact.

Great Black Wall Street reference. As a side note, the X-men were created in the sixties. It's a metaphor for racism. Xavier was modeled after MLK, while Magneto was inspired by Malcolm X. The separatist vs. the integrationist.

2) the flowers of krokoa seem to be too good of a deal for humanity. My bet is that they're placebo effect at best or Xavier is also some how mind-f***ing everyone. He definitely has the power to overcome most mental health issues and also has the ability to make people believe that that they are physically healthy. The only one I believe is that they can create land/entity that Krakoa does not know about (the outlier)

It is a good story, but what makes me cautious (not angry or worried) is what I didn't see, the human... or rather mutant...level effect on the X-Men. The X-Men at its best has always gotten into that very personal look at its members. I know it is only one issue (which eases me a bit), but the nitty-gritty of humanity is not something Hickman does often. I actually wonder some times if he is a Vulcan. Still, I am along for the ride, and was intrigued by the first stop enough to give the benefit of the doubt.

Absolutely beautiful read man. I always love the x-men for many reasons. But this was just awsome. All they every wanted to do was co exist. And that's just real on so many levels. And they are just trying to do justice. Give a artist a paint brush. And watch them make a masterpiece.
