4K from 1080p is more of a jump from 480p to 1080p, but resolution increases at some point start to have a diminishing return and it starts to diminish soon after 1080p
Imagine.. your facing off against Vader he severs the keyblade you fall to the ground still clutching the hilt. You look around for any tiny shred of hope. You see Mickey, he nods at you almost imperceptibly. You hear a voice saying "I believe in you". You stand up and face Vader as he stalks towards you. Then a lightsaber blade spring forth from the hilt!
You guys should also remember that there are people on twitch who aren't looking for other people to watch stream. They might already just come to twitch to watch the few people they follow, and this vod cast thing might get these people to stay on twitch for a longer amount of time. In the end it still does help only twitch and the larger streamers.
That song during the first break... I remember it being in some comedy video that may have been REALLY weird. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Can't quite remember...
21:25 Beautiful response Jesse. This was the nicest and most polite way of saying that cannibalizing your content is smart and profitable, but not in terms of keeping a loyal audience. Maybe, I dunno, maybe it's also a good way of expanding your audience, but it would feel dishonest from my perspective. I don't mind being wrong!
+ zagazsanology I wouldn't say creating and growing a genuine community with scientific tactics is dishonest. It's very interesting how there is this distaste for professionalism in streaming and youtube. We (as a collective not necessarily you and I) tend to show distaste for people who are trying too hard or making too much money. We don't want streamers to treat their job as a job. People say "get a real job" to streamers that actually do treat it as a job, because we don't want it to be a job. Maybe it's jealousy or inability to relate to the content creator when they go from a random person to well... a content creator. We should show respect to streamers that are mid to low tier and actually have to treat it as a job in order for it to be profitable. A lot of people seem to want to withhold streamers and RUclipsrs the privilege of having such a wonderful and fulfilling job. And I really don't understand it. As Jesse said one would be stupid for not using the tools one has at their disposal. It's not something we can blame someone for, especially when there is no malicious intent.
Oh totally! I won't condemn them for trying to make a living. Like you perfectly mentioned: it's weird how we feel betrayed when they try to tie business into their streaming/RUclips. I think it may be because we see them from a personal perspective since it's such an intimate form of media, hence we hate feeling like we're being monetized; but that's the reality! Glad you put me in my place!
Funny you mention H3 and VR in the same sentence. Gaben has been quoted before saying that he wouldn't even consider doing H3 until there was some jump in tech that made doing the game worth while. Valve has gone almost all in on their VR development and supported many indie companies in their VR dev. Also, Valve has been working on a quote "Full VR game, not just a VR experience." I think that game they are working on is H3 VR.
Man, I've gotten PC Components for X-mass / birthdays for the last two decades. I might need to accept that my family is (awesomely) weird. I should get a campaign poster for " GRANDMA'S FOR GPU"S!"
Not trying to shit on Jericho, but I'm kind of glad he couldn't make it because Jesse was a fantastic guest. I really hope we get to see him more often on the show.
With the VOD cast thing, how many people have been vodcasting during certain periods for a long time. Dansgaming, Geekandsundry are likely some of the more popular channels that do it quite often. Dan when he is away to conventions and during his Halloween month because he rebroadcasts games he already completed rather then replaying them for the month. Geekandsundry are barely ever live and usually have a rebroadcast streaming as live. They do always say they are rebroadcasting and I suspect that any streamer that likes to keep his audience will put it in their title too. For the chat not knowing things aren't live, that's quite hard to fix. Dan has been restreaming for years now, especially during October, and his stream is overlayed saying things aren't live, his titles say things aren't live, chat says things aren't live, some people still think it's live and backseat game on a video that was recorded 4 years ago ...
Doom VR could work with mouse aiming and the VR headset orientation nudging the reticle from the middle a little, probably with aim assist like with gamepads.
TLDR: Netflix recommend 25 mbps download, and according to wikipedia(2015) the only country with a download average at 25 or above is South Korea. So We are way out before the tech can do 4k properly. To comment on the the "jump to 4k" bit. Streaming services are not streaming(to my knowledge) true 4k but a watered down version like on youtube. Basically due to the lower bitrate it will not look as good as if you had the physical 4k product in your hand. There is a reason why places like Linus tech tips launched their own premium service floatplaneclub to stream videos in 4k at a better quality than youtube. I really feel like people needs to know this, the technical aspect of streaming true 4k, Netflix strongly recommends 25 mbps before you consider 4K you have to have between 20mbps and 30 mbps. Can't find concrete numbers on how effective the current encoding is, so I don't know if what they are streaming is true 4k once you view see it on your TV.
apm TheGreat Nonono, I'm talking about the first one, not Xenoblade X. X is the only one he played. The original is the game that everyone loves and I just found out that it's getting a sequel this year. Now Cohh might have to play both 1 and 2(hopefully).
Man 480p on dvd to 1080p on Blu ray is a world of difference to me. I can't watch DVDs anymore because Blu ray is just superior in every way. Funny that JP misunderstood Zeke and countered what he said without realizing it and still saying he agreed hahaha.
ARMORED CORE! Looking forward to another month of ONLY tweaking weight to optimize speed and turning to my preferences. Weapons and parts always the same. Another Age or 4 remaster-like please.
Pony up and get yourself a green screen Jesse! Kappa ;) and $399 for the Scorpio!?!?!?! Do you realize what the dollar to t-flops ratio that is JP? You crazy. Bold claim about VR Cohh.
Teraflops are a completely pointless and irrelevant measurement. Ever wonder why you never see desktop graphics cards advertising their computational calculations? Because it's irrelevant. It's like buying a car based on how much air the tires hold.
Gotta step back from speculation guys, Sony can't afford to crush Microsoft. Competition is healthy and much more profitable through money, time, innovation, publicity, etc... Step back, exit the sheep pen, observe the wolves. Much more enticing information there.
Jesse Cox really makes every show he is on better, love that guy.
Jesse is my favorite guest you guys have on.
Jesse fits in SO WELL here! Zeke in particular bounces fantastically off him.
He's just such an affable guy which comes out really well in these talk show formats.
yea he is pretty effable ;)
someone had to go there I guess
everyone should go there huehuehue
instant thumbs up for the COX
ouh hell jeah
Jesse and Zeke best combo.
Jesse and Zeke really have good chemistry together
Welcome to dropped beards!

The change of shirts lol
Best one for ages , nice work lads
Y'all had me cry laughing at so many points throughout this discussion.
Also if you elect to receive notifications from a streamer. You get the notification when a vodcast goes live just like an actual live.
You guys should also remember that there are people on twitch who aren't looking for other people to watch stream. They might already just come to twitch to watch the few people they follow, and this vod cast thing might get these people to stay on twitch for a longer amount of time. I was watching the beginning on Twitch and had no idea it was a vod

Nebulae jazz I NEED IT JP
There isn't going to be much Nebula Jazz this month due to Dodger and Strippin's various commitments (family, wedding, etc)

I'm with Coh. The world needs more Armored Core! I might be bad at playing it but damn it, we need more mech games!
I couldn't agree more with your comment.

I had a feeling Jesse would bring up Dead Space during this discussion lol. His idea for a horror Star Wars is awesome.
Hoop Gawd was indeed the Community Manager for NBA lmaoooo
Monster hunter games on the switch is what I am waiting for in 2017/2018

mikkelmv3991 Worked just fine live though..
Not trying to shit on Jericho, but I'm kind of glad he couldn't make it because Jesse was a fantastic guest. I really hope we get to see him more often on the show.

Cohh seriously needs to play Xenoblade Chronicles. I know he would love it.
Sabin `ul didn't he play it when it came out? They talked about it on the show before.
apm TheGreat

Dodger last year, Jesse Cox this year? Wow, awesome!
Pony up and get yourself a green screen Jesse! Kappa ;) and $399 for the Scorpio!?!?!?! Do you realize what the dollar to t-flops ratio that is JP? You crazy. Bold claim about VR Cohh.

Skylar Garrett Hence the sarcasm. :)
Don't really agree on the Far Cry part. Maybe I'm in the minority but I didn't care about the story at all in those games.
