A few chapters in you just stop questioning the weird crap you're fighting. Glad to see you return to this game! It cannot be overstated just how important blocking is in this game, or for that matter how forgiving the block function really is in this game. Sigma kind of waters your invulnerability down (specifically whenever Ryu does the backflip animation), but most times you can press and hold block even while Ryu/Rachel is in the middle of a big attack or combo animation and if the enemy attacks, they will either cut to a block or you can roll with Reverse Wind while being mostly invulnerable to the enemy’s attack. Some attacks break that rule, but just about everything has a workaround or answer when that doesn’t work, such as using a homing jump to lock onto an enemy and then Wind Run over their heads to stagger them and potentially escape crowds. If you’ve got enemies on you, it’s also never a bad idea to hold block as you’re landing out of the air for any reason, as that helps you reorient yourself, you’ll auto lock them if they attack (you can even insta-counter if you’re good enough) and you can directly transition into a roll that gives you mad I-frames thanks to Reverse Wind. Also, the quickest way to get around with Ryu is repeatedly rolling and jumping in succession (pressing roll-jump-roll-jump). Doing so causes each successive action to cut the recovery of the previous one, letting you close or create distance faster, and genuinely get around a bit faster. It’s like backdashing for speedruns in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night,if you’ve played that. Rachel can’t really get around as well like that, but pressing those buttons can still allow her to escape and reset your fights to neutral so you can reorient yourself! Also, remember the episode where you first arrived in the city of Tairon and were exploring? At the part where the rat helped you find that chest, Ayane sent a note saying that you could essentially interact with things in the city that had shades of blue like the bar you crossed to reach that chest or the powerline you crossed in that same room? Well, there will be more! One you’ve already been by is on Pleasure Street just outside of Han’s Bar. If you can figure out what to do with the blue parts you’ll see on the building in front of the bar, you’ll reach a spot you can always return to that has an Easter egg and always 100% heals you and refuels your ninpo! As far as other tips, here’s the rankings from best to worst: Ryu: Master Ninja, Head Ninja, Greater Ninja, Lesser Ninja, Ninja Dog Rachel: Legendary Hunter, Veteran Hunter, Common Hunter, Rookie Hunter, Novice Hunter Tbh, there’s not too much reason in the first game to care about rankings since Master Collection removes the leaderboard, but I’ve found over the years that aiming for the highest rankings has improved my skill at these games. With these games, the intro challenge is surviving what the game throws at you over the various difficulties (higher difficulties change enemy behavior alongside the expected stat boosts, plus the game throws both later-game enemies at you earlier and brand new enemies and bosses not seen in lower difficulties, restricts your items more and more and makes them more expensive, and even some once-helpful things can hurt you), then after you’ve learned the game, obtaining the highest Karma score you can becomes the challenge. Time bonuses are your best friend, and you get those each time you face a group of enemies you haven’t before and bosses, plus you get a time bonus if you clear a chapter fast enough….that last one can sometimes be offset if you miss it by either having all your info when the chapter ends, or by killing enough enemies. If you want to see how long you have to get each time bonus where you can, there’s a button you can click to show your Karma alongside that and your kills as you play. I think for Sigma it may be clicking the left or right stick in, but I don’t remember. Also, it’s interesting watching you play because, since I’m an old-head who’s been playing since the original Xbox version in 2004, I’ve always used all my items and switched all my tools/weapons out through the pause menus in these games, so it keeps throwing me off! Wow thank you I really appreciate you liking the video! Comments like this motivate me I'm glad you enjoy the content, and yeah of course you can make a game suggestion. 3D brawler hmmmm is it a PS2 game? then I could maybe guess.
@@AwkwardJump You're most welcome! Just watched through your Def Jam Submissions Only video, nice to see content like that on that game in this day and age as well! Not a PS2 game, but i know that that may bring God Hand to mind. (I'm off to watch your God Hand video once i finished this comment). Warning: Fairly sizeable comment incoming. I can almost guarantee you've never heard of the game. Goes by name of Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, came out early 2023, and it's part of the Zeno Clash series. A prequel to be exact. The first two games, Zeno Clash 1 and 2, were first-person brawlers that started out on the Source Engine (so loads of ragdolls) during the late 2000's/early 2010's. Zeno Clash 1 game can be beaten in about five or so hours, the second game is quite a bit longer. I don't know how much you care about story, worldbuilding and style in a game, but Zenozoik (the land the game takes place in) is a wonderful ramshackle prehistoric mess, with influences ranging from actual prehistoric animals to medieval monster paintings and woodcuts. There's genuinely not really anything like it. Clash: Artifacts of Chaos has a third-person perspective instead, though, and is the longest game in the series so far. You can find different Stances through combat challenges in the overworld, equip any two Stances and three Special Attacks at specific points, and any Stance consists of: - A three- or four-hit combo - An attack from a charge - An attack from a jump - An attack from a run - An attack from a directional dodge (forwards, backwards and sideways). No two Stances have overlapping animations either. You can even swap between stances mid-combo. There's also a minigame involving dice that you can challenge any sapient enemy to, where you can bet a titular Artifact to be used up if you win. It's a central point of the story itself, but the devs still went out of their way to make it so that, bar two or three instances, you don't have to use the dice minigame at *all* if you just want to get to punching. (That said, it's still worth exploring the land). It's a really fascinating game. I hope it picks up more steam throughout the years, and that you may find it interesting if you look further into it.
@@AwkwardJump Yooo, very glad it seems interesting to you :D Wish you a lot of fun with Clash, or perhaps Zeno Clash as a whole, when you may get to try it! I'm currently watching through other videos of your channel (the God Hand one was a lot of fun), so i'll be watching the other Ninja Gaiden ones as well. Some other games with good combat that i could mention are as following: - The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile. Looks like an edgy 2D webcomic in a kind of sketchy cartoon art style, and may be one of the bloodiest hack-and-slash games around. Main campaigns are very short, only like three or four hours for either of the two characters, Dish and Yuki. And there's a focus on evasion (with the right analog stick) that can be performed at any time. However, both Dish and Yuki get some different arsenals throughout the game. Ranges from katanas, a robot arm with a chainsaw and and SMGs, to double meat cleavers, a stick with a concrete brick wrapped in spiky bits, and a colossal set of scissors called The Guillotine. And more. Weapons can affect the dodge, however. It can be a tough but very fun time! - Charlie Murder. Kind of Brawler RPG in the most goofy punk rock horror apocalypse since... Evil Dead or something. Every character is a different "class", you can find and sell different pieces of fashion to change your stats and some effects (like applying a little poison explosion upon piledriving a dude), and there's multiplayer for four people. It's not the mechanically deepest brawler and has some depth issues, but is a fun time. - In a vein more akin to Def Jam: FFNY, though as a brawler instead of one-on-one fighter, i'm curious if you know of Urban Reign - This one's kind of cheating: a personal favourite PS2 exclusive of mine goes by name of Kya: Dark Lineage. It's not an outright fighting game, more of a 3D platformer like Rayman (similar style to Rayman 2 and 3, too) but has a combat system that gets quite in-depth for the genre. Stuff like different kicks based on the position of the left analog stick relative to the enemy while pressing Kick, which can lead to double kickflips, a leg sweep leading into a hand stand kick ending in an axe kick, a normal straight kick, etc. Or different grabs based on your own position relative to the enemy (front, back side) and even jumping on enemies' backs to send them running into walls or their allies. It does take a while to buy all these combat options arnd there's some rougher parts in the game that, even as a big fan, i can't ignore. But to this day, the closest thing i've experienced to that game's combat are bits of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, The Mark of Kri (think Conan the Barbarian but in a Don Bluth art style, and main character has Polynesian inspirations) and Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. - i could go on for a while, but i'll end it with Genokids and Soulstice. Soulstice released during the second half of 2022 and is the first very big title by its dev company. Got some issues like levels dragging on, a few annoying enemy types, and the camera at times. However, it also has a *lot* to offer. Got seven different weapons total for over the course of the game, a skill tree where you can deactivate skills and get a full currency refund, different combo finishers depending on which weapon you end a combo with, and there's just over twenty different enemy types of which the majority is still solid. And there's still more. Bosses are good too (spare for one), though they're a bit backloaded. There's not a lot *of* them, but there's a lot *to* them. As for Genokids, that one's yet to release. Four-man rock band fighting an alien invasion where every member has different specialty (all-rounder, power, stunner and ranged) and you can swap between characters on the fly, even escape stuns and knockbacks through quick swaps. Again a big comment, i don't know how much time you usually spend reading big comments, but if you did read through it all: Thank you for doing so, and wish you a good rest of your day!
Great suggestions I'll take a look at all those games and see which ones i like. I have played Charlie Murder before I never finished it so it might be time to do so, I think i remember seeing something about Kya: Dark Lineage before but i never played it might have to play that my self. Anyway thanks for your suggestions always looking for games to try especially games I've never heard before @@jurtheorc8117
It's always hilarious watching a newcomer trying to learn the game. I'm confident you'll learn with time. Sadly I don't think I can help much with the advanced tech, as I'm relatively new to Sigma as well, and it has some different techs than the Black version, which I've been playing since 2005. However, I can tell you this: upgrade your Dual Swords and keep doing rotate Y at Hydracubus (the tentacle boss) once the tentacles are off. Rotate Y with the Dual Swords is an absolute nuke of an attack, it will destroy Hydracubus. Use the Fire Wheels too while you're at it, if you can, for more damage. That doesn't work in Black, simply because there's no Dual Swords there, so consider yourself lucky to have them lol
Just watching you play this game triggers my memory of how much I was getting angry at this game man 😮💨 also this was a great video I love the intro too 🤣
I think you forgot that you chose Hard Mode when you started this run? Normal is already pretty impossible for most people, Hard Mode on this game is for when you can breeze through Normal and want a greater challenge. It's why you're taking so much damage, fighting Cat Girls where there shouldn't be any, getting Izuna Drop so late, etc. no offense at all but i think you should just play Normal so you actually know how the game works, you'll still have a challenging time with it!
Ninja gaiden is probably the only game that truly broke me imao. I remember dying so much near the end that I wanted to throw out my ps4. Granted I was button mashing more than actually doing combos, but I stand by the opinion that the difficulty in ninja gaiden sigma is completely sadistic. Banger game tho
You haven't used a single one of your beads to increase health, have you? XD Also, never use the ultimate technique to draw in orbs. It won't count towards total or health recovery. It only fuels the attack
HAHAHAHAHA. Been a while since I've watched your videos and saw that you've quit the first game. It's fineeee man. As a modern gamer like me, I've noticed that the first game aged like milk and it lacks many many many quality of life mechanics we miss take for granted today. HOWEVER GOOD SIR. You're gonna realize that the game feel, mechanics, and combat tempo of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 or Ninja Gaiden 2 is MILESSSS BETTER THAN THE FIRST GAME 😂
Okay, here's the best way (at least in my experience) to beat the Hydracubus (the tentacle boss): First, the obvious, deal with the minions. Second, equip the Dragon Sword. Third, use the Flying Swallow attack ONLY when the tentacle you are attacking is not moving (although, you can TRY to attack it when its doing its big, slow sweeping attack, but this is risky) to cut off the tentacles. Important note at this point, once the tentacles are severed, they will ALWAYS drop a tiny blue orb that replenishes a PRETTY small amount of health, but this can be boosted with the Dragon Gauntlet Enhancement. Third, be quick to sever the next tentacle, or it will regrow. Fourth, once both tentacles are severed, the boss stops moving and opens the eyes all over its body, leaving it free to hit. At this point, you can do whatever you want, but my personal suggestion would be the square X 2, Triangle X 3 combo with the Dragon Sword. Hope this helps.
Once the tentacles are off, in Sigma you're better off using rotate Y with the Dual Swords + the Fire Wheels while you're at it. That absolutely destroys Hydracubus.
@@serenablade6616 yeah I was actually surprised when I found out too. Especially considering how early you get the Swords. To be fair there's another way you can nuke things in both Black and Sigma... but it requires you to be at very low health. Not going to spoil it for now, but if you know, you know ahah.
Ninja gaiden would be a 9/10 game were it not for the Rachel missions, like who thought it would be a good a idea to give her a rope spear and not make it a grapple hook for combat movement? Love everything about the game except for her combat

Here's hoping you figure out the parrying eventually! It works sorta like Sekiro, oddly enough. Guard resets, worth learning to block..Everything. You can parry everything with guard resets. If you wanna play Ninja Gaiden 2, I highly recommend waiting for the mod NGS2 Black to release. That essentially remakes the original Ninja Gaiden 2 in Sigma 2, along with some new gameplay additions.
I have been working my way through Ninja Gaiden Black on Very Hard and I am going to say this with 100% sincerity: you may want to start over and put the game on Ninja Dog mode. The game is still a challenge but it will actually teach you more on how to play. I HATED Ninja Gaiden 04 because it didn't teach you anything at all until you beat "Uncle Hippie Nunchuck Man" as I call him, THEN the game teaches you about Ultimate Techniques which you could not hold down Y and raw charge them, you had to kill an enemy first. NGB's Ninja Dog mode is what made me come back and give the game another try, and when I learned what the game was asking I had a blast and it's my favorite games to this very day (streaming it again this weekend). Also I played Sigma about maybe three weeks ago, your life seems very low, have you been using any upgrades? I can't remember, it's been a while since I saw your last video and I am not talking about your month break in this series. Also, you don't have to do every single fight in this game, even I run away from a lot of the fights in this Ryu level to get to what I call "Itagaki's not even trying to hide it anymore fetish" boss. Keep on keeping on, don't let this game frustrate you because it does cheat (I can speedrun this, it's confirmed), but overall I hope you have fun!
you made a BIG mistake starting the first time in hard mode. This is nothing compared to what lies ahead.. until you fully understand how to play you should stick to normal. You will still die tons of time in normal
There is no wholesome Ninja Gaiden, either you beat it or it beats you.

You can find different Stances through combat challenges in the overworld, equip any two Stances and three Special Attacks at specific points, and any Stance consists of:
- A three- or four-hit combo
- An attack from a charge
- An attack from a jump
- An attack from a run
- An attack from a directional dodge (forwards, backwards and sideways).
Wow I've never heard of this game before it looks interesting and the combat actually looks really fun I'll have to take a look at it@@jurtheorc8117
Some other games with good combat that i could mention are as following:
- The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile.
- In a vein more akin to Def Jam: FFNY, though as a brawler instead of one-on-one fighter, i'm curious if you know of Urban Reign
- This one's kind of cheating: a personal favourite PS2 exclusive of mine goes by name of Kya: Dark Lineage.
Ninja "jump scares" Gaiden
You're doing great! This game is such a pain, but it's so good as long as you can struffer through it!
Thanks 😁
Man i miss ninja gaiden black. 2 was fun too but black was something else
Just watching you play this game triggers my memory of how much I was getting angry at this game man 😮💨 also this was a great video I love the intro too 🤣
I beat black the other day wit the nunchucks only on master ninja duke controller and all 😂
Goat 🫡
I think you forgot that you chose Hard Mode when you started this run? Normal is already pretty impossible for most people, Hard Mode on this game is for when you can breeze through Normal and want a greater challenge. It's why you're taking so much damage, fighting Cat Girls where there shouldn't be any, getting Izuna Drop so late, etc. no offense at all but i think you should just play Normal so you actually know how the game works, you'll still have a challenging time with it!
I can see how this is a horror game.
Have an amazing day ❤
Thank you 😁
You haven't used a single one of your beads to increase health, have you? XD
Also, never use the ultimate technique to draw in orbs. It won't count towards total or health recovery. It only fuels the attack
Im currently in chapter 3 of ngs2 on master ninja mode. I want to die
You get revenge by getting the sword back which saves the world
I don't dislike the first game I'll be back on it I was just curious about the 2nd game
@@AwkwardJump ahh okay. Good luck man!
@@sayaneechan5799 Huh, didn't know the part about the Dual Swords. But the Fire Wheels are a great option, good point. I can't believe I forgot that.
@@serenablade6616 yeah I was actually surprised when I found out too. Especially considering how early you get the Swords.
To be fair there's another way you can nuke things in both Black and Sigma... but it requires you to be at very low health. Not going to spoil it for now, but if you know, you know ahah.
15:38 is where you fucked up 18:31 is where you knew you up
W videos as always mane
who the fuck thought the motorcycles were a good a idea was it just a fuck you to fans lol
Ninja gaiden would be a 9/10 game were it not for the Rachel missions, like who thought it would be a good a idea to give her a rope spear and not make it a grapple hook for combat movement? Love everything about the game except for her combat
If you have the Xbox version you dont have to do them
@@MILDMONSTER1234 What you mean by that? Like chapter select? I played the master collection with game pass(got to hard mode and stopped at her mission lol) and her missions start right after the ones with ryu
@@sirlenemodesto2665 The master collections are actually re released versions of the PlayStation 3 ports. The og xbox 360 and Xbox versions of the games are different
Our boy is back!!!!
hahaha please do more....I beg you❤
Here's hoping you figure out the parrying eventually!
Next episode please
LETS GOOOOOOOOO
😂
